  • when was it filmed ?

  • Josh Homme is way better than Bruno Fevery.

  • Fuck yeah!

Nick is a champ, met him at Gold Coast Kyuss Lives show!

Rippin it up with his style!

  • Stop crying! Nick is one fuckin badass! Garcia wasn´t there by that time, and i don´t miss him.. QOTSA rules.

  • nick olivieri is not a great vocalist, but i think this is one he has a really good vocal, not like john garcia, but its really something there

  • fuckin' crowd didn't even burn the place down when he said he was going to play a Kyuss song. yeah they didn't know what was going on, 99% of the crowd was diehard iron maiden fans shouting "mai-den! clap clap clap; mai-den!" like cheerleaders. if only I was there...

  • this drummer sucks balls big time see the mistake at the end of the fast part he sould know hes shit before he goes on stage and i really miss scott nick is ok but scott is just awesome he made this song so trippy

  • Scott>>>Nick

Sorry, Nick is a decent bassist, but compared to Reeder he is a total bum.

  • @ConiferTreez couldnt agree more

  • @ConiferTreez

Thas becuz Nick originally is a guitar player not a bassplayer. Scott is.

  • @markfoot Scott is originally a drummer as well, Nick Oliveri rocks but Scott Reeder is untouchable

  • Actually, nick also has a nice contrast of rough scream and gentle whispers en sounds in his voice

  • im sure nick can sing a hellova lot better than most of the people complaining about his singing. When the whingy bastards can sing at his standard while playing bass and being under the pressure of performing in front of a huge audience then they would have legitimate reason to complain..... KYUSS FTFW!! QOTSA FTFW!!!

  • Did they cover every one song of Great Kyuss??

    KYUSS>QOTSA

  • well you can tell he hadnt played that in a while

  • Too much bashing for Nicks singing. Sure its not technical and he misses the note quite often, but its got emotion and thats what matters.

  • @Shakrai Amen.

  • Nice improvised solo.

  • garcia is better as both: homme/oliveri

  • @lostandwounded Josh Homme plays the guitar in the original version of this song too...

  • I kinda like Nicks vocals and it's a great alternate version of the best Song ever.

  • @mats0r you shouldnt like it cause its not worth it theres no passion no unger just a good effort nothing more

  • Comment removed

  • oh lord...Nick`s vocals ruined this song. bad cover

  • @Shakrai hell yeah... i bet with you... there were few guys who thought...

'what about that.... metal (?) song?.......... -.-...

PS: john garcia beats the living shit out of nick! :P :)

  • dammit they were about to go into "You Can't Quit Me Babe" !!

  • Who cares, this song is more instrumental anyway.

  • Who cares, this song is more intrumental anyway.

  • Nick Oliveri is playing ultimate bad ass bassline by Scott Reeder and doing John Garcia killer vocals, all this at the SAME time. Some people here is really fucking gay and unrespectful, kiss my ass

  • Ah, poor old Nick. He's not too bad actually, but he's comparing to one of the best rock singers ever, so he pales in comparison, sadly. I think Josh should have sung it. Or better yet, just get John! Although they did that before, so that might not be as original.

This is a pretty bad cover though, all said. QOTSA are usually great, but there's something about the tone, it just sounds off. Garage rocky when it should have tons of bass.

  • @Shakrai As long as they're enjoying it who cares?

  • @Shakrai The fact that they're popular doesn't make them mainstream.

  • little prick does not compare to garcia at all.

  • I think some of you guys are being too harsh. Sure, Nick's singing is not as good as the original, but it's still pretty fucking cool. Garcia was just a freak, that's all!

  • Comment removed

  • I agree hes no match for Garcia/Reeder, but I still like some of Nicks other shit.

  • Nick oliveri sucks ass.

  • Oliveri's singing wasn't too bad, but honestly Homme probably could've even pulled it off better. Best choice would've been Lanegan though

  • @Shakrai 100% true.

  • The song would have been awesome without nick's pathetic try to imitate(!) garcia. just the pure music and its hypnotic groove. but nick ruined it. someone should have told him the truth about his singing "talent" before the show -.-

  • lmao the crowd starts clapping at the wrong time about 3 or 4 times

  • Not Nicks singing is the worst part of this cover but his bass playing.

Reeder is prolly one of the best bass players of all time.

Nicks Punky style is no match for reeders pure epicness.

  • wow i did not expect that from old nicholas, good shit

  • Nick's attempt to sing this almost ruined my love for this song. but Garcia does it so good that it shall remain my favorite kyuss song ever.

  • Blasphemy. That vocals hurt my ears!

  • Is this Sid Vicious on drums?

  • @panayiotis131 NO TROUTMAN IS HIS NAME!

  • @stopthrm Well he does look like ole' Sid to me... ;-) -cheers!

  • @Shakrai Queens of the stone age, mainstream?!

  • @hosenhochable yes, mainstream

  • fans in Brazil are the better =D

  • LOVE Kyuss... but QOTSA doesn't interest me, for some odd reason... I WANTED to like it, but just couldn't.

    ???

  • @tony93666 I'm with you

  • Makes my heart pound like it was yesterday!

  • So some Qotsa fans might not listen to Kyuss - big deal. Nevertheless, must've been an awesome treat to those who avidly listen to both bands. Can't wait to see Garcia live this summer!

  • @SpaceCadet1 This is from the gig where they supported iron maiden, that's why the crowd is retarded

  • when he said kyuss the fans had fuck all idea... not how it should be

  • Back when Josh used to play his Ovation...

  • This crowd blows.

  • anyone know what the guitar josh is playing is?

  • Ovation Ultra GP. Very rare guitar. You can find 'em sometimes on eBay, usually not less than 2 grand though. Eastwood's knockoff is around 700.

  • "it's a treat for you brazil,

and it's definetely a treat for us."

    fuck those unappreciative mulinyaan's

  • John Garcia is most definately a better singer than Nick Oliveri

  • Yeah, but at least he's trying.

  • @strumming4Jesus

    On the album, maybe.

    Live, that's another thing entirely.

  • @strumming4Jesus Hah, just a lil

  • @strumming4Jesus not like they had a choice?

  • @strumming4Jesus John Garcia is most definately better than anybody at rock singing

  • Stoner Rocks!

  • QOTS is playing good music covering Kyuss !

    I like Kyuss more !

  • HOW THE FUCK COULD I HAVE MISSED THIS SHOW!!!! fucking awesome!

  • the crowd sux arse dang it

  • Gene! Great on drums

  • nice cover but not garcia. im guna go listen to the real version now and get my ass kicked by garcias vocals :)

  • It's not a cover ,since josh homme wrote it :P

  • the guy singing this looks like a copy of shavo odadjian from system of a down

    anyway kyuss > qotsa

  • you have no idea what you are talking about ha?? XD

  • Isn't the guy who is singing "Nick Oliveri", the former Kyuss bassist (before Scott Reeder).

Hence, Shavo is Nicks copy :p :D

  • Man, the one who´s singing here is Nick Oliveri who also played Bass at Kyuss for a long time. Not a copy. He´s the fuckin´original. Years before anyone thought of shitty SOAD he made music history in Stonerrock. Btw. he also played in Masters Of Reality and the Desert Sessions

  • The guy is Nick Oliveri - former bass player of QOTSA.

  • kyuss= kyuss

    qotsa= qotsa

  • obviously not!!! fuckhole!!!

    kyuss is stoner!

  • qotsa= +/- Kyuss members

  • Nick sings the verse awesome. He can't really reach the note on the chorus.

  • Kyuss > qotsa

  • The should play this song always!

    Kyuss>qotsa

  • the bass is crazy scott bass writing , oliveri put more groove in it josh sick as always. gene drum break with josh guitar re entering was nice

  • oliveri put more groove into this than Scott? are you fuckin crazy?

he sounds stiff & flat compared to Scott.

  • bitch please, is scott playing bass and singing this song at the same time? no, nick oliveri is doing it, read it and cry motherfucker.

  • yeah he's barely doing it. just barely. He's a decent bass player.

but Scott Reeder's skills are legendary

  • i love Josh Homme

  • Scott Reeder is the only dude that can jam this out on bass properly

  • Sure because he wrote the bass part. This isn't bad.

  • no, because his style is more loose/groovy & less punky than Oliveri's.

Nick Oliveri WISHES he could play bass like Scott Reeder

  • Well, you're right and so am I. They are two totally different bass players with different styles. I appreciate both styles. Even though Josh is on stage for this song this is a cover for Nick and it's not bad for a cover seeing as how he doesn't play the same style as Scott. As a matter of fact his vocals on this are not bad either. Is he Garcia? NO, but Nick is on key and in tune. No vocal struggling coming through the monitors. The musician who writes a song first plays it best live. Fact.

  • Not to mention the fact that the bass is supposed to lock up with the drums and that ain' Brant playing now is it? lol

  • Okay, but the drummer fucked up on this one a couple of times.

  • @NuclearGuru350 thats why they chose Alfredo instead of gene to drum for kyuss

  • Nick is out of tune a few times, but I ain't complaining because, like you said, he isn't Garcia :)

  • haha who doesn't wish they could play bass like Scott Reeder! haha

  • so true, I've tried for years. I don't know how that guy does it

  • neither do I son, neither do I

  • Fuck, that solo is genius... It's not even that technically difficult...but I don't know how Josh gets to playing like that...he's got so much groove.

  • just about to go into you cant quit me baby

  • not anywhere near like garcia.....fack that...

  • fucking HELL trio!

  • needs garcia

  • Gene FTW!

  • how does josh play the intro? Does he just mute all top three string with his left hand and then tab the fret he wants to ring without mute? Or does he simply mute with his right hand and play top three strings and then just play the tone he wants to ring without right hand mute?

  • Comment removed

  • It's in c-tuning (C/F/Bb/Eb/G/C). The intro is basically an open 5th string (F), then the 4th string/7th fret (F), the 4th string/10th fret (Ab), the 4th string/12th fret (Bb), then the 4th string/9th fret (G), all with some palm muting interwoven in there. It's based on the Fm pentatonic scale. I believe Josh played it on a Maton through an Ampeg amp on Sky Valley.

On that note, that riff and John's voice have never failed to send a chill up my spine every time I hear it. Fucking legendary.

  • Thanks for the elaborate answer :)

  • Kyuss tuned to C-Standard.

  • You're...so wrong...

  • This man speaks the truth and nothing but the truth, I think everybody here can agree on it that Kyuss is world's best band.. It is beyond epic, it ledgendepicairy...

  • he mutes using his right hand the notes that sound muted. with each part he's playing the same note, so it's 0 0(m)0(m)0(m)0(m) 7 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) 7(m) and so on. find the tab for it if you want to see how the whole thing is done.

  • nice fucking song

    trautmann is good

  • he's as strong as ever despite his fight with AIDS and a cold.

  • what? i don't think i've understood

  • yeah !!!!!!!

  • yeah man you should hear his stuff in the knifes

  • wow....

he fucked up with the last bassline. and this is what i love about that song . the last bassline...

  • Nice try Nick but John's voice is hard to match!

Prolly my favourite Kyuss song btw \o/

  • exactly

  • no, this is queens of the fuckin stone age!

  • no garcia no supa scoopa...just that simple:-)

  • I agree, you can't compare this to Garcia's singing, not by any standards.

People who disagree, just listen to the original one. You'll understand.

  • Have you heard the version with Lanegan singing? His gutteral singing voice is much better suited than Oliveris'.

I agree tho', Garcia's the original and best at singing this almighty beast of a song.

  • Yeah, please, that probably sounds incredible.

  • where can I find the version with lanegan singing, please?

  • oh shit. are you sure that really happened? if it did we definitely need to find it.

  • it doesn't exist so no.

  • Lanegan never sang this, youre thinking of John Garcia.

  • truth

  • Comment removed

  • bad without Garcia

  • no way!! this is kyuss song and other can't play it

  • Wow, this is pretty good!

  • Comment removed

  • I saw John Garcia's New Band Hermano live and they covered thumb and green machine...Fuckin unbelievable action going on there...I mean qotsa is good....But kyuss is immortal

  • + 1000

  • gene is a beast, you will bow down.

  • it makes me sad that the audience dont know what Kyuss is :(

  • Hey, just be glad that you do. Was lucky enough to see them play the Rivoli in Toronto, with an audience of maybe 200. What a show!

  • NICK, DON'T BEAT ME!

  • I think nick sings really awesome here. he has a really raw voice, just like garcia

  • Garcia is waaaay better than oliveri.

I think they shouldnt play too much Kyuss songs because it just doesnt feel right without garcia on vocals.

  • And even with garcia on vocals, it doesn't sound as good as with kyuss. I saw some video's of qotsa playing kyuss songs with garcia on vocals, but it doesn't have that real kyuss feel in it. but that really doesn't matter because homme is now in qotsa doing awesome things and garcia is doing awesome things too. but you're right, garcia is better than oliveri.

  • KYUSS isn't KYUSS without Brant

  • Alfredo Hernandez was a decent drummer. I agree Brant was better but Kyuss was still respectable without him.

  • I think he went too soft on it though. If he had kept the rawness for the whole time, I would be impressed and satisfied

  • 2:50 ;)

  • I love Nick's voice whether he's singin or screaming but he can't match John's with Kyuss stuff

  • Nice to see Josh with unbuttoned shirt ^^

  • kyuss wer better than this

  • amazing song i love it but nick just can't pull off the "AND YA KNOOOOW" bit.. which is one of my favourite ever vocal lines from john garcia and any singer for that matter.. not so likely that they'll be playing this at any other show so its still a good video!

  • nick could never sing for shit. we beat up my mom together for a laugh the other week, how we laughed.

  • again and again... That IS NOT Castillo!

    Gene Troutmann - drums 1999-2002

  • kyuss should have never quit. only to let stuff like this never happen.
