  • Hmmm that's a terribly trimmed main sail, flapping on the downwind? They would be going much faster if helm pulled in the main sail and crew toggled down on the wire... He's practically standing up on the gunnels!

  • Any small craft craft in those conditions feels like your flying but that's not 35kts, I sail F18 and Tornado catamarans and you would be lucky even to get that out of one of those with the right conditions. Check out my vid called Tornado Blasting, at the 5 minute mark we are going the fastest we went all day and the gps only hit 31kts for a brief period. Most of the vid averages high 20's but feels like warp speed, it always does on the water.

  • @AusGrunt They mean wind speed...

  • ahh sucks to loose your spin sheets in wind like that.

  • cazzo dici 35 nodi

  • 1:43 .... very resistant spinnaker!

  • bad music, not 35+ knots not even white horses have words with yourself please and sort your sails out!!!

  • That's chilean sailing power

  • Why are you trapping so far forward?

  • This has nothing to do with marijuana. :/

  • Looks like good fun. If you man up and pull the kite in, the boat will go faster, be more easy to control and you won't Teabag so often. Whats the worst that could happen? ..You might get wet.

  • slow

  • as my coach always tells me... you break... you swim.

  • nice vid! didn't need the shoot though - just letting it flog to death. That baby would plane without it in those winds.

  • SHEET IN!!!!!

  • windsurf....

  • more kicker would help

  • Maybe there were 22-23 knots. Probably you weren't so good. And they seem more.... 35* is impossible. At 35 knots you broke your mast, seriously, you broke your spi first of all I did that :D

  • id say sheet in abit

  • stretch when you are in trapeze, don't just stand there like you have shit in your wetsuit!

  • battling

  • tighten up on the reach a little... running so square is near on impossible in 30knts.. if it was me in a 420 in that breeze...,, no kite

  • hang on lower in the trapeze,

    where is that?

  • spinaker... man i shitted my pants..

  • name of song??

  • Thumbs up if you muted the music.. :L

  • @dunno1ful

    Badluck... music's gooooooood

  • was that 420 making those wakes?

  • 18-22 knots maybe 25 in gusts, not that bad at all.....

  • pull main in more and learn how to fly a chute and you go a hell of a lot faster

  • id say this is 18-25 knots of wind TOPS

  • im jealous

  • My hobie wave barely reaches 25 kts!

  • my shoes have 2 knots

  • ive sailed in 50 gusting 60 in an old wooden scout cutter.... we managed to stay up for like 5 minutes! didnt end well tho..

  • @kylecuthbertson we arent talkinabout a schooner....big difference bro.

  • @Armyairborn1234 yea i know, i sail both types of boats, but 50-60 knots is a LOT more wind..

  • Georgia is gay

  • i dont think that is 35 knots,, i sailed in 35 gusting to forty in a laser and it was litterally impossible to sail. we had to take our masts down and tow

  • They could easyly go faster in not quite as strong wind there so overpowered, however the fact still remains they went out in 25+.

  • a few things to say

    1 sick video and everthing.

2 yoours sails were luffing for like 90% of the video

3 props to the crew for doing trap and spin perty hard shit

4 skip should try to control the boats beter suprised the crew dident do a forstay walk.

    that is all lol

  • Nice sailing, bad music.

  • @lepivert Metal rules

  • @lepivert Hey, be thankful its not bodies!

  • Thanks for posting. Nice video

  • yeah thats 35 knots ...

  • trim the main!

  • @jlfernandes08 a bout like a 420, and in wind that intense, you need to keep the main undertrimmed, there is no way to reef a 420 so the boat would get overpowered without the main being undertrimmed.

  • Looks fun - big waves and sunshine - but no way 35 knots. More like 23 - 25

  • The Helm is very slow. Mainsail.... ÁÁÁÁ The boat is unstable. More vang and use the mainsheet yeah!

  • Look at the mountains not much fetch i was out in a blow of 20 gust 25 and not 100 yards off shore and it was similar luck to have 5 mile fetch here water is a BAD indicator of wind

  • easily could be 35knts+ all depending on location, could be a small bay explaing sea state..

  • gone this fast in 420 without a spin.

    :)

  • that's not 35+ for sure. Waves and foam are for 20-25 knots

  • where you at hull speed

  • try it in a laser 2... lol even funner!

  • thumbs up if you think this looks fun :)

  • get your main in! lmfao jk

  • great way to ruin you sails very fast :) hahahah

  • Awesome! but why bother with the spinaker when the main is mostly flogging? still awesome.

  • this look so fucking fucking fucking awesome!"

  • 0:38 is like the story of my life...

  • Comment removed

  • poor spinnaker :(

  • whats reaching mean?

  • @pegasus619Q its the point of sail where the wind hits your boat at a 90 degree angle

  • @pegasus619Q "Reaching" is a larger range - it's whenever a boat is not sailing directly downwind (running) and not as close to the wind as possible (close hauled). When the wind is 90 degrees to the side, it's called a beam reach. The other reaches are "close" (slightly toward the wind) and "broad" (mostly away from the wind).

  • i dont c a no wake sign

  • 35 Knots was wind speed? certainly not boat speed.

  • indeed thats isnt 35+knots....maybe 25+?....cuz i sailed 28 knots with laser and it was far worst than that...

  • @biosSQStacular it was not worse it was, BETTER!

  • @biosSQStacular

I think this is around 30...

because they will rip the main sheet at 35+ if they would let it leased like this...

  • @biosSQStacular I once sailed europe in 35+ and when i tried to bear up (as slowly as i could) the next thing i remember is lying over the sail near the mast top.

  • @biosSQStacular 420s are much slower

  • @biosSQStacular I've sailed 35+ on Europe dinghy and the wind was so heavy that i couldn't get my boat flat in sidewind even when the sail was flapping. When i was going downwind and needed to bear up i tried to do it as slowly as could but the next thing i remember after i used the rudder is laying on the sail near the mast top...

  • do you know the land?

  • you could be going way faster if u pointed the sailsbetter, if the baton wasnt pointing away from the boom, and if the spnnaker was bigger

  • Look at the wake

  • trim ur main

  • Ya def. Not 35 knots......Sorry bro

  • Why would you use a spinnaker on a 420 with the jib still up? The jib is stealing most of the spinnakers wind anyway.

  • @mayersmusic when you put the jib down, where would you put the jib ? and it takes to long to put it down

  • @mayersmusic are you stupid. You don't take down the jib. If you take down the jib that is bad for the boat.

  • @daboodeef179 Actually if you take down the jib it will mess with your Centre of Effort.

  • @mayersmusic are you stupid? on a 420 the jib is what tensions the rig, the forestay is extremely loose so you crank down on the jib halyard to tension the rig. When you're sailing a 420 the jib never comes down. and if the rig isn't tensioned enough, in that wind you would bend the mast and unlike laser masts, they aren't meant to bend. THATS why the jib is still up.

  • what winddirection is this ?

  • very little spinnaker, try with a bigger one or buy a gennaker :)

  • @DogOffTheTube thats the 420 class legal size

  • @13lackhole yes, but you can use a gennaker or a 470's one

  • The motion of the spinnaker when flapping reminds me of Steven in "THE GREATEST FREAKOUT EVER" when he is spazzing on the bed.

  • bad idae with the spinnaker (Fun but bad for the sails)

    great sailing

  • the fuck is the skipper doing hold the tiller straight you scumbag lol the crew was getting hit every 2 seconds

  • i would be afriad to gybe in that:O

  • @MrTwofoot2 it is easyier to gybe the faster you go so if they would go at a fast speed they would have no problem, however if your going slow your fucked

  • This is extreme :)

  • if the wind shifted alot and u gybed you literally would have gotten aids

  • shit surfing that wave with a lazer would be crazy\

  • Greeeaat! Probably like 18kt sustained puffs to 30+ Still nothing to shake a stick at though...

  • lol these guys need alotta training yet in heavy wind conditions.. let the boat run and do the job, good try boys :)

  • its like 20 knots...

  • Pole down also..

  • Comment removed

  • fucking awesome

  • gusts up to 35knots maybe

  • die chinesen kommen

  • Boom vang much?

  • @hotdogger420 Yeah and they could do with a foot of cunningham lol.

  • Der sollte mal das Groß dicht nehmen, das flattert da ja nur so rum ...

  • Thats how you win races.

  • Lol, thats like the smallest spinnaker in the world...

But to be fair, it looks like 20Kts! Thats pretty impressiv for the boat and the waves!

But please don't exaggerate with the speed.

I know it's Youtube: who will watch it if you've written 20Kts....

  • if u let the jib out not the main u will go faster and have better control just saying

  • 15kn!! ok... 35+ norway

  • is the skipper even wearing a lifejacket?

  • I want to be his sailmaker

  • This boat is not exactly under control...

  • YouTube Nokia "18 ft Skiff in heavy wind". That's real sailing. This is a kiddie boat.

  • i see dead ppl... poor crew guy....:DD

  • guys are def chump sailors. they are forcing it.

  • Skipper's is totally freaked out and not working the boat or the main to keep the thing balanced

  • @Parkdaleperrys I would too! with those weaves!

  • don't pitchpole lol

  • on music videos, lil wayne gets dissed.

on sailing videos, the skipper gets ATTACKED lol

  • C'mon skipper pull in that main and get ur ass out there crew toggle out and glue to ur skip ur just sailing with the spin lol im turning into my coach, nice work guys

  • You wouldn't be heeling to windward if you got the main in, look at the top of the sail.

Move the weight back the skipper should be hiking as far back as possible. And the crew should be pretty much strattling the skippers back.

Ive done 29er racing in 30 gusting 40, the faster you go the more stable you will be.

Props for sailing in those conditions.

  • B-A-D

  • Nice ride! Well, little out of control at some point, but that's my favorite sailing!

  • @surfskatesail between 0:10 and 0:24 you can clearly see they use a spin pole

  • Pitty its not a laser two

  • come on dude! my crew and i total weight just about 104 kg~! how come???

  • come dude! my crew and i total weight just about 104 kg~! how come???

  • are you just floating the kite, or spin pole?

    i cant see int?

  • Thats how u win races

  • this makes me want to get an I420

  • Nothing wrong with the helmsman. You've got to move like that the surf the waves.

Spinnaker and jib trimming could be better, but could I do that in 35 knots? I don't think so!

  • quite bad helmsman

    sorry

  • @AxDCjr what kind of comment is that?

  • Great video XD

Sailed with my partner in 25 knots in the sea(salt water) and another time in about 30-34 knots in a lake haha...but we only weight 105 kilograms..

after all we couldn't raise the spinnaker since we barely managed without it :-)

    good job guys

  • GRE 52123 :) Remember :D

  • I think my 420's mast would have snapped. I wouldn't have been out in that without a safety boat

  • @thimblethorpe .....and who exactly do you think is doing the filming?

  • That's pretty hardcore. They did well to keep it up. I remember a 145 (trapeze and spinnaker) in 25+ but without the waves and it was just fucking mad.

18 footers are the duck's guts though!

Great clip. Hate the music but...

  • you guys are crazy, I sailed in like 25+ in a CJ, that smaller and faster, and we didn't have a tripese, but you guy should righted you sails and you spin, you'll go faster

  • Youtube: Nokia 18 ft Skiff in heavy wind

  • Kiddie boat. Have you ever seen 18 foot skiffs? YouTube it.

  • fyi its an I420 because of the circular splashguard and national insignia, and its windier than it looks, ive noticed that that cameras remove 10 knots always haha

  • Comment removed

  • @tiv2fan umm no its a 420, hence the stubby bow, shorter mast, an 420 written on the top of the sail.....these dudes blow at sailing too, i used to race for a while on the east coast, i could have been rockin that shit

  • @tiv2fan 420 :) look at top of the sail XD 420 r the shit

  • 35+...da bau ich eher nen opti aus carbon mit nem code zero, als das ein 420 sowas schaft...das die leute auch immer übertreiben müssen...

  • fire out your "proel" :s junk

  • n bischen viel wind oder

wenn ihr das auch findet dann Daumen hoch

  • @Claasinator001 ganz sicher

  • @djinphinity100 wie cooool

ich segel seit ca. 3 jahren 420ger

  • Why did you stop, Go on

  • nice ride, but this is not 35+ knots. probably with this boat you did actually felt like 35+

35+ knots means, that you will hit the wave in front of you

  • @labakinnas your right it looks more about 20 with about 25-30knt puffs

  • @labakinnas think they mean the wind is blowing at 35+ knots

  • @labakinnas 35+ wind most likely, it'd be difficult to get a 420 to 35 knots haha

  • @labakinnas 35+ knots wind. totally believable. Not boat speed.

  • @kjelsvik I got 8 and gusts to 9 beaufort on the nord sea once, the (I don't know the term in english cuz I'm dutch) iron thread at starboard snapped and the mast bended, luckely the boat was not mine but from a sports organization :D It was fun though, I went over board 6 times in 3 houres

  • @labakinnas

I'd bet that is 35 knots.

The wind never looks as fierce in pictures and video as it does out on the water.

It doesn't look like they ever got the boat really driving - I doubt anyone could.

It'd almost be fun to put another trap on for the helmsman just for the 30 seconds before wipeout.

  • @KanzlerM

I take that back - at about 1:10 they got it working.

You need a flat cut chute (like an asym) for that much speed.

  • it are chinese mans;P
