And in High octane could be awesome for Drag racing with good drag racing tyres on the rear it certainly smokes any american muscle drag racer. But in gt1class they probably will use the V10 running at some 600 HP or less and will probably be the fastest cars.

The 1.5L V6 Renault engine of 1986(Formula1) had 1500HP when setup for qualifying and 1000isch for race. The difference was the 1500HP only lastest that one lap, then it was history.
If you see a guy on the road with 600HP in a Golf or so, there is a good chance, itll last 300miles and then need a serious rebuild.
It's a fair point (and one I was thinking of, myself). But displacement alone isn't the determining factor. Think back to the 1983 Brabham BMW Turbo F1 car - only a 1.5L and reputedly 1500bhp!...
If you're prepared to push the boost pressure up and rev the nuts off the engine, you can achieve the kinds of horsepower mentioned. (It's just your engine won't live very long - but racing engines aren't supposed to! ;O)

The Carrera was the only one I ever really liked lol. Eh but we all have our own opinions. I think it does better with a longer, less stubby looking body and more generous tail and head lights. The 911 looks fast because it's a Porsche but the Carrera looked fast just because of it's looks. I know what really matters is on the inside (look at the Veyron), but still for a million dollars you expect the best.

The road car could have 950bhp but the race car is strictly limited to 650bhp becouse of the class regulation (ex: CCX-GT has only 630bhp ,it's road counterpart has over 800ghp) and Porsche will more likely use the 5.7 V10 from the Carrera GT for this project ,the 3.6 litre flat six will be out of production till 2011 and replaced with the 3.8l version.
This is very early speculation. PLEASE READ THIS. It will probably receive 650hp from a 4.0 litre engine. This car is already highly unlikely to be made anyway.

They would probably use the Carrera GT and add twin turbo to make the power. A race version would make 600-650 hp max, due to the rule restrctions.

Actually there ARE designs already out there at that are done by many of Porsche's designers already. They have been planning a new GT1 since the green light for the CGT. Well, they are not making it anymore, all of the plans were cancelled. It would be specifically built for racing but there would be about 25 road-going versions of it.
Where did you get your info? First, the GT1 Class is no longer used for Le Mans prototype class cars...Second, The Carrera GT uses an F1 inspired 5.7 liter V-10...and lastly, 950bhp is never allowed in Le Mans prototype racing (intake restrictors are used to limit max hp to around 600hp. Oh, and 254 mph...possible, but not likely at Le Mans with the two chicanes recently built on the Mulsanne Straight. That being said, I really hope Porsche officially returns to Le Mans!
Okay, maybe you should research before you post. Porsche has no been in F1 for a long time. First, the Carrera GT DOES NOT use an F1 inspired engine. Porsche was developing a LMP-01 engine that was 5.5 litres, but regulations changed so they ditched it and upped it to 612 (DIN) BHP and 5.7 litres. Second, GT1 is NOT LMP racing, but a factory road legal division that requires production of over 1,100 units per year. And lastly, this video was added a few months ago before... (read next comment)
the Le Mans GT1 class was cancelled, Porsche was in the development, they even confirmed it with me, but due to the changes it was cancelled. Now further regulations in the future demand a closed top petrol engine, styling similar to LMP-02, but just as Porsche did with there LMP-01 car, they ditched it and put it in a road car. But, there is no homolagation necessary with the future GT1 class, so possibly Porsche will make a GT1 spec race car that will compete in the future (to next comment)

The 5.5 L V10 was from a prototype concept car Porsche unveiled at the 2000 Geneva
Motor Show. This engine was also derived from the original "secret" F1 engine. When I mentioned GT1 prototype, I did not specify anything like an LMP1 or LMP2. The original GT1 class was also known as Sports-Prototype. The Porsche 911 GT1 was a perfect example of a prototype "masquerading" as a GT. All the original GT1 class cars were known as both GT and Prototype. Anyways, that's what I meant. The current GT1 class at Le Mans is related to the previous GT2 Le Mans class...the main
differences is engine size, weight, and horsepower. Ex: the Corvette C6-Rs race in the current GT1 class, and cars like the 911 GT3 RSRs race in the GT2 class. That is not entirely correct. The LMP2000 on which the engine is based has different timing and cam profiles then the Mezger deisgned Footworks. Car concept was unveiled at Paris in 2000 and the prototype in 2003 at Geneva you genius...

The 1.5L V6 Renault engine of 1986(Formula1) had 1500HP when setup for qualifying and 1000isch for race. The difference was the 1500HP only lastest that one lap, then it was history.
If you see a guy on the road with 600HP in a Golf or so, there is a good chance, itll last 300miles and then need a serious rebuild.

It's a fair point (and one I was thinking of, myself). But displacement alone isn't the determining factor. Think back to the 1983 Brabham BMW Turbo F1 car - only a 1.5L and reputedly 1500bhp!...
If you're prepared to push the boost pressure up and rev the nuts off the engine, you can achieve the kinds of horsepower mentioned. (It's just your engine won't live very long - but racing engines aren't supposed to! ;O)

The Carrera was the only one I ever really liked lol. Eh but we all have our own opinions. I think it does better with a longer, less stubby looking body and more generous tail and head lights. The 911 looks fast because it's a Porsche but the Carrera looked fast just because of it's looks. I know what really matters is on the inside (look at the Veyron), but still for a million dollars you expect the best.

The road car could have 950bhp but the race car is strictly limited to 650bhp becouse of the class regulation (ex: CCX-GT has only 630bhp ,it's road counterpart has over 800ghp) and Porsche will more likely use the 5.7 V10 from the Carrera GT for this project ,the 3.6 litre flat six will be out of production till 2011 and replaced with the 3.8l version.

You hould contact MAWSHAW. They are big producers of bodypanels nd might make the panels. I would be an easy install for a body shop that wants a cool porsche and is not afraid to ruin a nice stock 911.

Im not saying it cannot be done. My buddies Mitsu drag car makes 900 from 2 litres. But as i am in the auto racing business i know porsche would not make a road going car that makes 950 from a 3.4L. They would probably use the Carrera GT and add twin turbo to make the power. A race version would make 600-650 hp max, due to the rule restrctions.

Actually there ARE designs already out there at that are done by many of Porsche's designers already. They have been planning a new GT1 since the green light for the CGT. I wasn't trying to give him a hard time you clown so don't be a smart ass. This was badly done, HORRIBLE. The guy that posted this didn't design it so you are going ball crazy for nothing. So is Posche gonna make a ZR1 killer anytime soon that will be stret legal, and around the same price as the GT2? I just don't see them laying down and taking a beating in it's own field of performance! I'm pretty sure Nissan is about to strike back in 2010 with a Car that was a milisecond slower than the ZR1 at the Ring, and it wasn't a Spec-V. So i'm hoping Porsche gets back in the dog fight!

Well, they are not making it anymore, all of the plans were cancelled. It would be specifically built for racing but there would be about 25 road-going versions of it.

It wasn't competitive enough, only th Corvette raced in it. Also, in ALMS, LMP1 and LMP2 were cancelled and will be combined into one class.

Where did you get your info? First, the GT1 Class is no longer used for Le Mans prototype class cars...Second, The Carrera GT uses an F1 inspired 5.7 liter V-10...and lastly, 950bhp is never allowed in Le Mans prototype racing (intake restrictors are used to limit max hp to around 600hp. Oh, and 254 mph...possible, but not likely at Le Mans with the two chicanes recently built on the Mulsanne Straight. That being said, I really hope Porsche officially returns to Le Mans!

Okay, maybe you should research before you post. Porsche has no been in F1 for a long time. First, the Carrera GT DOES NOT use an F1 inspired engine. Porsche was developing a LMP-01 engine that was 5.5 litres, but regulations changed so they ditched it and upped it to 612 (DIN) BHP and 5.7 litres. Second, GT1 is NOT LMP racing, but a factory road legal division that requires production of over 1,100 units per year. And lastly, this video was added a few months ago before... (read next comment)

the Le Mans GT1 class was cancelled, Porsche was in the development, they even confirmed it with me, but due to the changes it was cancelled. Now further regulations in the future demand a closed top petrol engine, styling similar to LMP-02, but just as Porsche did with there LMP-01 car, they ditched it and put it in a road car. But, there is no homolagation necessary with the future GT1 class, so possibly Porsche will make a GT1 spec race car that will compete in the future (to next comment)

I have been since as far back as I can remember. That is not entirely correct. The LMP2000 on which the engine is based has different timing and cam profiles then the Mezger deisgned Footworks. Car concept was unveiled at Paris in 2000 and the prototype in 2003 at Geneva you genius...

950bhp from a sub 4 litre six cylinder, outstanding. forget the veryon the GT1 will most likely go down in history as one of the greats. porsche are incredible engineers, the 911's engine varies from 3.6-3.8litres (flat 6) and yet it leaves big V8's,V10's even V12's in tatters. Well done porsche!
