  • 300 pounds is good for your age, but I never see much merit in a stance that wide, knee wraps or a belt at that weight (I don't use them period, but at heavy weights it makes sense), and taking 5 seconds to hit the bottom of your squat.

  • @Chickenweng I go all the way deep too. You can cheat a bit and 'bounce' back up from dropping down so far...but I like to drop, pause for a second or two and then rise...now that's a real squat as far as I'm concerened.

  • @Chickenweng I almost think the bounce is cheating but I go all the way to the ground and much lower than everyone else at the gym...I've only been going for 2months now so definitely a newbie still and only pushing 110KG at the most.

    Going down to parallel is a valid squatting technique, but yeah, if you only get that far down it doesn't matter how much is on your shoulders it's still just half a squat.

  • @soseg he isnt a powerlifter(despite winning a meet at 16 then quitting cuz he only won a belt buckle lol) or bodybuilder. he's been in a few magazines just to show how to do a few excersises and hawaiins aren't so dominant cuz their so rare to find nowadays and i've personally been to hawaii and know for a fact i have seen people that havent lifted but still manage to weight i guess around 240 and not look fat at all.

  • @Chickenweng you are obviously misinformed he is not doing it "half way" that is actually a full squat that would pass in any powerlifting competition and by the knee wraps and what looks to be a suit i would certainly say thats what he's training for, what your talking about however is an olympic squat which yes is much harder and you cant control as much weight but in my personal opinion i think they are much less intense than powerlifting squats and not as fun, however both have merit

  • @Lhenson165 I just go by what I see and do. Theoretically there would be more weight at the bottom of the hole with the downward momentum, BUT if the decent is slow and controlled that momentum won't add to much. Bouncing out of the hole is way to easy (like bouncing the bar off your chest in a bench press)...I go to the gym to improve myself, not make it look like I lift heavy by little cheats here and there.
