  • That's bull shit! Take the monkey, offer the chief prison or help catch those involved!

  • this is terrible :'(

  • @defenderization The answer to this question is simple: bring back colonialism. It's painfully apparent that the Africans are not even close to being ready for independence in the modern world. They need adult supervision!

And for the critics of this comment: the Africans are colonizing our countries and bringing their ways with them.

  • Sorry, but education is NOT going to stop this. The only way you can educate these people is hitting them in the pocketbook. I get so tired of people with their hands out saying "Donate to me, I'll educate them and stop this". It has been going on for ages, and as long as poachers, companies, etc. can make a buck it will be there. As soon as there is no money to be made off the suffering of animals it will stop, and only then.

  • tired of commercials on this shit.

  • @sophisticsolice Actually no, they don't. That one case, about the woman who had a chimp as a pet, he was on some drug, and the drug wasn't tested on chimps, it was not even meant for chimps. Chimps are our closest relative. Would you say your nasty comment about puppies, kittens, or humans? Why are chimps any different? All you're showing by your comment is naivety, ignorance, and an evil heart. Have you EVER hurt somebody? Should somebody say, "I bet sophisticsolice is tasty, fuck him/her" ?

  • @iSAW7 in fact, looking at the example of people killing and eating "bush meat," that allows diseases like AIDS to cross from animals to humans. That's a whole new meaning for "pay it forward". LOL.

  • @iSAW7 survival of the fittest doesn't mean that the stronger species destroys the other. it means WITHIN species the most adaptive individuals pass on their genes. if you mean that human beings have eliminated whole species of animals, laid barren the land in the quest for coal, destroyed oceans, and generally made a muck of things, that doesn't actually contribute to survival.

  • @iSAW7 yes we are so evolved that we massacre whole ape and other primate families and EAT THEM.

  • Poor little animal!

Why do they get so many children in this country if they are so poor?

  • ya gotta to eat

  • Muji - if you were to watch, they are NOT starving. Had they been starving, I would try to understand. But they are killing the females to sell the babies, as you see on this movie. I know you probably said the above as a joke, but I'm responding for others.

  • thank you for replying politely... so many rude ones on youtube...

well while i dont think it is right, who are we to dictate in another mans land.. are we not creating more pollution than them did we not rob them of their natural resources, just becasue the western world doesnt think it is right does not make it wrong!!!!!

  • I am a polite guy. I get it, I understand what you are saying. But what kind of human beings would we be when the time comes when there are no more chimpanzees or orangutans? The time will come - it is not if, it is when. Chimpanzees have been around for FIVE million years - that's over 20,000 generations. And lived in harmony with man up until the 1600's when Europeans began sending them to Europe. It was not until a chimp died of a tooth infection we realized they were like humans.

  • Since then, humans are to blame for them being endangered - there are only about 140,000 left!

  • Then surely a law should be passed that it is illegal to keep any wild animal, lion, tiger, chimp, ape, croc - and they should be left where they belong. I dont even think people should be allowed to keep snakes, no responsible person would worry about such a law, only the selfish and irresponsible ones would make a ruddy fuss... happy new year to you!

  • I just can't seem to wrap my brain around this. This isn't even my country! They just go into their forests like it's a larder or a cash station and yank out these incredibly social creatures.

  • what was done to them>>>>>>

  • UMMM COOL thanxs i new i was right but what deose the twilight person have to do with chimps and apes. and why shoulld we kill her.

  • why , why , stupid fucked up mayor i say he should be given a taste of his own medicine have his children sold and see how he feels about that . That poor animal shouldn't suffer like that i am ashmed to be a human she is soo young and the people treat her like shit gosh the rich people instead of buying them selfs expensive jewlery and stuff they should adopt a whole family of chimpanzies and stop this madness.

  • poor chimp cryin after that guy!!! :(

  • Apes have feelings too

  • shame on the african government. not making this a real crime, maybe the rebels will help clean up that human garbage, if the government of africa does nothing to protect their endangered species, jungles, and precious resources, that are for humanity to survive on planet earth. chimps were created to balance the ecological system. and all the rest.... like our trees and oceans etc. are also going to hell. no planet has being abused like this one. .

  • cruelty and ignorance. that is the whole thing. look this asshole trying to get money from the crew. he believes that eating chimp meat will make him stronger. i say, if i eat his flesh i wlll certainly become an asshole.

  • Poor baby...humans are dumb fucks hope we all go extinct

  • we actually will go extinct one day, illy8858

    Just like the dinosaurs lol

But hopefully that won't be in our lifetime

  • the bush meat trade is what started HIV and AIDS also.

To me it is like cannibalism.

If they would stop cutting down the trees in the Rainforest then they can live off the vegetation.

Western culture messed these people up and they NOW greedy. Which is sad before West culture came in and destroyed these peoples basic beliefs. They had great respect for the Great Apes, the rainforest, and all nature. At one time they hunted for food not profit.

  • The Bushmeat Trade STarted HIV, AIDS, Really? Really? Did the poachers create the virus in their sophisticated labs? Or is it that just soo many people eat bushmeat and they're all sexually promiscuous. Your Western Culture comments show an ignorance more profound than your AIDS knowledge

  • I never said that those people are sexually promiscuous. What is your problem? How dare call me ignorant? I was simply saying that I don't think the Natives of Africa would have the eat bushmeat if the West didn't come in kill their forests and kill the vegetation. Most people in Africa at one time didn't touch the great apes mostly gorillas. Gorillas are regarded as a treasure.

I was saying about the AIDS was properly started with the Bushmeat trade. AIDS is not only a sexual transmitted.

  • It transmitted by bodily fluids...Fluids can be exchange from the killing of the animal and the poachers. I am sure they don't have a bottle hand sterilizer on them and they don't have health regulations in those areas.

AIDS came from that part of of Africa.

  • Getthing the blood or fluids on you won't cause an infection unless it reaches the blood stream and CLUESTICK - HIV stands for HUMAN immunodeficiency syndrome. HIV1 is 'believed' to have come from CHimps and 'likely' bushmeat but that doesn't explain HIV2 and saying it happened with certainty is somehting no scientist on Earth has been able to do, yet some woman on youtube with silly views on Western Culture can. See why I think your statement is ignorant and laughable?

  • WilliamGRyan...I have NOT called you out. Why are you so friggin' rude to me. I guess I have more to do in my life then be on the computer and insulting people.

My statement was not nasty to you or anyone else. Maybe to the BBC leaving that baby there. You call me a Westerner and your profile states you're in the U.S. Please get off your high horse or someone will knock you down from it.

  • You have made several ignorant statements. I responded to them. You tried to defend them and made even more ridiculous statements. It's impossible to respond to such absurdity without pointing out how ignorant and stupid it is. Instead of refuting something I said or attempt to prove your point, you start banging your spoon on your high chair table. Regarding 'Western' - We have planes in Africa genius, which fly to the US and have for several years.

  • I don't come to Youtube and make idiotic statements I'm not prepared to back up (in your case b/c you can't) so I'm unconcerned about getting knocked off my high hourse. You think you defended Africa but you're too ill informed to realize your statements were condescending and insulting and you sound like everyone who's had one college course by some West hating socialist professor. Ask your prof when people started eating bushmeat (well before any westerners) for one thing, then we can talk

  • you're ignorant and hollow headed williamgryan, because aids/hiv vaccine was made by a jewish scientist to spread in africa.

  • The Aids/HIV VACCINE was made by a Jewish Scientist to spread to Africa. That's very kind of him. Is he going to spread the vaccine to the rest of the world hopefully?

  • cont. fighting this crisis for over 15 years, on the ground in Africa. The lumber, mining, oil corporations from China, Japan, Europe, America and others allow this to happen as they rape Africa of it's resources. So if you buy hardwood, you support this. That means furniture, flooring, etc.

  • The reporter stated that had they bought the baby another family would have been killed. They would simply have replaced her - poor little soul. There must be something practical we can do. I suspect international pressure on the politicians. Come on animal rights activists, we do it for seals, whales and tigers. Political pressure can erode these kinds of practices. I'll be back with some petitions.

  • Sadly, look at the International Community's intervention in anywhere in Africa(and the world for that matter).Genocide happens under the UN's nose and UN peacekeepers constantly get implicated in rapes of the people they protect. The UN would end up getting more animals killed. We need to buy up the property and sell property rights on the apes to people who Promise, under threat of law the leave them in their habitat and watch out for them. If they were property, something could be done for them

  • That upset me. The poor baby was crying for him. Oh broke my heart.

  • Yah, it was awful. I get the whole "We don't want to contribute to the bushment trade' ange. You save one but perpetuate many more. But we'd never take that approach with human trafficking or even instances where Private Property was stolen. Since these animals are endangered and so close to us, I think they should have taken the baby ape and arrested everyone there. That would address both problems and teach the poachers a lesson.

  • I agree with ahonestwoman ... why on earth when he was holding the chimp didn't he just make a run & take it.

  • The BBC merely is reporting on what is going on all over the Congo basin. Within 10 years all the great apes i.e. bonobos, chimps, gorillas, billi apes will be extinct because of greed and an appetite for their meat.

  • actually in this case i disagree-i hate those damn reporters at times-they could of done something!!!-like buy her and put her to a sanctuary for example....i agree with ahonestwoman....but thanx 4v posting

  • adembasou: Personally, I would have taken the baby, I couldn't have walked away either. I've been following the bushmeat crisis and the orphans for over a year. The orphanages are overflowing and no money is coming in. If you want to help, adopt orphans like I have thru IDA or another organization. I have adopted 3 chimp infants and 2 gorilla infants. WE CAN CHANGE THIS BUT ONLY THRU EDUCATING PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD ABOUT IT. Search for Karl Ammann's website to learn more, he has been

  • Instead of waiting for Education to happen (my whole life we've been waiting), people should start buying up the land and putting land use covenants on it. That would stop logging faster than any Education program or UN intervention. That leaves poaching and kidnapping as the remaining threats which can also be dealt with a lot easier if the land is owned. It wouldn't cost much to pay some starving locals to guard the property.

  • You make a VERY good point. Where do we get the money tho? These people are so poor they do not realize that the leases they are handing out for logging and minerals are worthless and they will be left with no resources and no animals. Dismal prospects.

  • @adembasou Typical know it all Englishmen. They with their "superior wisdom" decide what's best in the situation (in spite of the protests of the local) and leave the local chimpanzee rescue guy in a bad situation. SOME THANKS HE GETS FOR HIS TROUBLE. Not to mention a baby chimpanzee to a sad fate. So if you don't buy the baby the hunters stop hunting because they cannot sell babies? Get a hint they are still going to hunt for meet and leave the babies to die if no one buys the babies. Morons!

  • @rrmfg : next time learn how to READ and UNDERSTAND Something first BEFORE ANSWERING

  • Silly monkey!

  • fucking ah!!!

What the fuck!!!?? IT IS A LIVING CREATURE!!

    IT's a baby...OMG!!

So you let that baby die..I am so angry right now.

Why didn't you just take a gun and KILL HER that is what you did!!! She would have been better off dead then living in those conditions. BBC FOR THE FAIL!!!

  • thats jacked up!
