  • I think Shantae and Wario are similar in some ways, they both battled pirates, both have unique methods of attack, both can assume different forms, both need to star in more games, and both need their original adventures available for Virtual Console.

  • Ok. This was hilarious.

  • I quite like the evil take on Shantae

  • 2:23 "That's a lot of knees...

I'm going to need more arrows."

  • @go4moo End yourself.

  • Australia here. Still not feelin any wayforward love in the DSi department other than Mighty Flip Champs.

  • Shantae must be in the next Super Smash Bros!!!!!

  • Shantae acting like the mafia was hilarious.

  • Nice to know Shantae has a blogger

  • LOL thats amazingly funny :)

  • Never change, WayForward, Never change.

  • Shantae is sooo underrated!

Too bad Risky's Revenge is so short. The Zelda-esque gameplay was VERY fun and interesting! Squid Baron's Tower actually really demonstrated some great gameplay!

In all honesty, had they replaced the Battle Tower with an original dungeon involving the Elephant form, then it would have really been cool for that part of the game! I was disappointed by the desert chapter...

Yeah, needed more dungeons. Hopefully we can see sequels? (Which are NOT on iOS?)

  • Oh, the heartbreak of good games not selling well...

  • Shantae deserves more attention. I wish she could be playable in the next Smash Bros. games when they get started.

  • @nswayne I certainly hope they do that! I´m picturing Shantae and Quote to appear, that could give 'em the push they need. Maybe Xoda Rap...

  • @nswayne I certainly hope they do that! I´m picturing Shantae and Quote to appear, that could give 'em the push they need.

    And maybe Xoda Rap

  • PLEASE bring this game to us WiiWARE players!! Maybe even a `special edition' of the game for the Wii!!...PLEASE!!

  • Oh wow, that was hilarious. I'd actually buy Shantae if it was rereleased on the 3DS as a downloadable Game Boy game. Risky's Revenge did a good job of making me interested.

  • I like how they switch subjects. XP

  • I hacked my 3DS just to get Risky's Revenge from the eShop. And by "hacked" I mean "changed the region from Australia to UK." Because, people in England get this game but people in Australia don't for some reason. Why, WayForward, why!?

  • Purchased on a DSi XL, and the game is STILL gorgeous. May get it again for 3DS so I can stop bumming my fiance's system. Would LOVE to see the original on the eShop, because $10 to you guys is SO much better than $200 to some asshat on ebay.

  • @sailorneorune

I actually own a copy. bought it for 8 bucks at a store that specializes in rare games. after buying it I told them to check ebay and came in the next day. they tried to force m to return it. I laughed at them. I love irony so much.

  • 0:51 XBOX fanboys in a nutshell

  • @toonlink49 : Sounds more like you're just stereotyping fans like an idiotic fanboy, yourself...

  • @WaddleDee105 Well it's just that everytime I see an Xbox fanboy there always like: "OH YEAH I GOT CoD BLACK OPS! I'M NEVER PLAYING THAT CRAPPY MW2 EVER AGAIN!"

  • @toonlink49 : Well that's just the loud minority. There are tons of respectful Xbox/Ps3/Wii/whatever gamers. It's just that the bad side is often the easiest to find and you are probably ignoring the good side.

  • @toonlink49 sounds more like some PC-gamers to me. All this "oh, crappy console graphics" and DX11 stuff.

  • RubberFruit is in the related column, lol.

  • Wow, that was really inane.

  • Okay as soon as I get the scratch I'm most definitely getting this game, my 3DS wants it, I also can't wait for Might Switch Force, it looks great...

  • My very first 3DS purchase... this game.

  • @frostare Mine too.

  • Man, when will Nintendo finally sell eShop cards? I finally want to download this game. A few days ago I accidently bought a Nintendo Points Card since I thought it was compatible with the eShop, but of course it wasn't.

  • @RPGHacker86 You could download the Game with your Nintendo DSi and the Nintendo Points and transfer it to your 3DS.

  • @DaTorni My DSi is kaputt... I mean "broken".

  • @RPGHacker86 I think they already were. I've seen them at GameStop for about a month or so.

  • @Falcovsleon21 According to Nintendo fo Europe they have no idea whether or not the cards are already available, since they "are no Nintendo products". They suggest customers to just look out at whatever places sell prepaid cards. Anyways, I gave up on it. I really don't feel like searching all over Germany to find a place that sells the cards. They should be available online, anyways. Nintendo did a bad job there.

  • "That guy is so dead," =P

  • I wish I could buy this, but I'm in New Zealand and as far as I know it hasn't been released here and probably never will be. Hopefully if I import a US 3DS I'll be able to play this along with Mighty Flip Champs and Mighty Milky Way.

  • @sergiocornaga

If you do end up with a PAL 3DS, you could probably just set your country to the UK when you buy it (they get Wayforward's stuff, albeit usually over 6 months late). I know that worked with the Wii.

  • @Sposchy That apparently doesn't work any more as they've reduced the options available in the settings! I think I'd have to import a European 3DS to get access to DSiWare released there. I'd be able to play 3DS games bought locally then, but that's not much of a bonus when importing US versions often costs half as much....

Oh Nintendo, why you gotta make it so hard for me?

  • @sergiocornaga

Actually, I've found that PAL stuff typically costs roughly the same as NTSC stuff. There's this site called Ozgameshop (Nzgameshop in NZ) that sell new release PS3/360 titles for ~$60. Wii/DS/3DS stuff is cheaper still.

Not that I'm suggesting you get a PAL 3DS, as I'm sure there'll be something released in the US only that'll make you regret it, but if you are forced to buy PAL, those two sites are great (I recommend Axel Music for US stuff if you don't mind a short wait).

  • @Sposchy Thanks for the recommendations! I don't use much besides Play-Asia, which seems to have similar prices to Axel Music (which is now Planet Axel?). I'll definitely keep an eye on those sites, though.

  • @sergiocornaga

I noticed that Axel music is usually cheaper than Play-Asia, but shipping takes a little while longer (they run a virtual inventory).

  • @Sposchy Apparently it's almost impossible to buy from the eShop on a US 3DS without a valid US credit card / address (points cards may be possible) so this method of acquiring Shantae is out of the question.

Fortunately, it seems like I was wrong about the 3DS region restrictions and that they are roughly the same as on the Wii, meaning Shantae should be available on any NZ/AUS 3DS with the location set to UK.

Hopefully this information is useful to Shantae fans down under...

  • @sergiocornaga

Actually, I think that's backwards. I was looking at a friend's Aussie DSi the other day, and you can only set it to Australia or New Zealand. I'd assume it's the same for 3DS.

Also, some people on PALGN have confirmed the US store accepting their Aussie credit cards, so that's not an issue.

So it seems that any credit card works, but the only way to get the game is by importing your DSi/3DS.

  • @Sposchy Bizarre! I was going by information here (remove spaces): gbatemp. net /t296166-uk-3ds-in-aus

Now I'm not too sure what to think!

  • @sergiocornaga

I guess the 3DS must be different to the DSi then. But I'm almost 100% certain that Aussie CCs work on the US store, if you decided to go that route, assuming you input a US address.

  • @sergiocornaga

Yeah, you can definitely add points to a US account with an international credit card. I did it with my Visa card just then. (If NZ doesn't have 5 digit postcodes, put a 0 at the front. For example, I had to type "03180" to register my postcode of 3180.)

  • @Sposchy It's good to know that! Maybe the person in that forum thread didn't try putting a zero at the front for some reason. I believe I will be importing a US 3DS, then.

  • @sergiocornaga

Or maybe they used a pre-paid Visa gift card? People have had trouble with them because, as they don't have an address attached, it's impossible to verify the postcode.

  • If you want more people like Mr. Squiddy buying your game, why not port it to 3DS? Also, is there any chance of an Aussie release (not that it bothers me, I imported a US 3DS solely for this game), or does the expense of getting it rated over here make it not worth your while?

  • @Sposchy DSiWare is compatible with the 3DS. Or it will be once the eShop comes out.

  • @D00D64

I know. But it won't support full screen, 16:9 3D.

  • I love you guys so much

  • My DSi broke so i couldnt get this, but im todes gettin it on my 3ds

  • Hahaha, hilarious. I can't wait to pick this up on Monday! It's the first game I am buying! I would have bought it sooner, but I never owned a DSi.

Hey, you guys should get the original Shantae on the 3DS virtual console as soon as possible so that people can buy it without having to pay $200 for a used copy, haha.

  • Believe me, since I never got a DSi, I've been happily awaiting the store launch. Can't wait!

  • Hilarious.

  • I would love to see more Shantae, too! I loved the GBC one, and I'm pretty sure Shantae Risky's Revenge will be one of my favorite games ever. I can't wait, and I also can't wait to see some 3D action for the series!

  • I was one of those day one squids who actually bought it day one. And waited for the European release to boot. That was one hell of a long wait.

So yeah. Is it too early to demand a sequel? Preferably with more Risky? Or Risky as a genie? I like Risky, its not too obvious, is it?

  • He has a point though! It's like the last Shantae. I didn't grab that either because it was time for the GBA

  • Hahaha, the Squid has my mindset exactly. Game is old and on a platform I don't care for. BUT I HAVE A NEW 3DS. I might just pick this up afterall. Heard nothing but good things of Wayforward.

  • Bring this to 3DS Ware!

  • @illiteratedino You'll be able to buy it on the DSiware shop when the 3DS eShop launches already.

  • And, uh, just saying. I know this isn't in the final build of the game, lol. But this uses the game engine, music and SFX, right? So I'm totally excited in seeing this rolling, its pretty much like watching a gameplay video!

  • Holy mother, I think I am about to cry! This is pretty much the first time we are seeing some awesome direct-feed with sound!

I sold my DSi like a few weeks before Shantae launched, and I've been waiting since then. As I have my 3DS right now, Shantae is definitvely going to be my very very first buy on monday!

THIS IS GOING TO BE AAAAWESOME!

  • OWNED, SQUID THING!

  • WAYFOWARD BRING THIS GAME TO JAPANS DSIWARE, AND I'LL BUY IT....AGAIN!

  • I don't have a DSi but I have a 3DS. You guys know what will happen on the 7th right?

  • "if its months old its not fun anymore"

i think i get what it means

meaning if a game comes out and its months later some people think its not fun anymore,

  • I am watching! always! and I demand that the first Shantae is day 1 on the 3DS shop! and that its in 3D! also that will make the prise for a boxed copy on e.bay go down to a prise that is not you know 200! I still tink you shod do a limited collection where you get the first Shantae, the demo/prototype of the Shantae GBA , the DSi Shantae Riskysrevenge and a Bishoujo Statue of Shantea;) just saying my money/pre-order is down for that;)
