Dude, you don't need the UMD drive, You can just download games on to your memory stick and play them in the games place. Use uTorrent to download and w w w. thepiratebay (DOT) org to search for the games you wanna download. Connect your PSP to your Computer and select USB mode in your settings (On the PSP) then drag the downloaded game to the folder on your psp saying "ISO" or "GAMES" then your done!! @CALILIVIN1559 well its actually not a button its a socket where a ribbon cable goes and you have to unlatch the socket, take the ribbon wire out, clean it and put it back in

@RJxMicheal and the umd thingy, there is a ribbon cable that connects the umd to the main board behind the screen try connecting it properly to the board.

@moungahok Idk if this will work for a bricked PSP cause when a PSP bricks its due with the CFW that is on it and can be fixed easily, without dismantling the PSP, with a MMS and a Pandora Battery

Snap out The DISC from the casing of the UMD. Clean it with CLEAN CLOTH maybe with alcohol.

Then Put it back and Try. If it does not work maybe its the PSP's UMD Reader.

THUMBS UP SO HE CAN SEE. this umd thing happened to me. i did research. i checked the umd for any cracks or anything. i found a tiny crack on the edge of the plastic thing that has the actual disc inside it. im inpatient so i just got someone who is a technical genius (my dad lol) and we just keeped trying then it eventually worked. if that doesn't work try using a different umd on the psp. if that umd works there will prbably be a prob wif da umd. try it on a diferent psp if it works its yours.

@TheBertyboy no charging only happens when there is a battery in the psp. you can use the psp only if its plugged into a power source(wall or car)

@soliderate ok the first thing you have to do is follow the ribbon wire on the screen and re-attach it to where it should go. Thats why your screen isnt working

well you need a bracket in the UMD drive to work, it seems you don't have one so the UMD disk isn't held tightly in.

It's your switch inside your UMD drive . It let's your PSP know there's a UMD game inside . There's sencors too . Check those , they might be burnt out .
