  • thank you u realli made a difference n alot of these children life and ur bout da onlii person i have seen on here dat seems 2 realli care bout the ppl affected by the lost of da greens

  • i stayed at 1160 sedwick. I went to Lincoln Park high school. My first child was born when i lived in the greens. i have seen lots of things there. not all good, but not all bad either. I stayed there in the early 90's. when i visit Chicago, i always go to the near north side to just look and remember life as i knew it there. Its so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.!

  • love the way they moved aggressive on the black ant hills.

  • im from chicogo and i know the terror of cabrini and these kids dont know better because they have not experienced anything better and thats sad because cabrini is there home sweet home just as if they lived in beverly hills or wherever you may feel is your home. despite the critics of this video i think it was a smart and powerful.and for the racists on here you must have forgot that these are children say what you want white people are not perfect and no race is.

  • This is a perfect example of what life is all about -Community-

    Unity!

  • I feel sorry for the kid at 2:47, but at the same time, i feel happy for him.

    strange.

  • Woah, the boy at :37 looks like he's 25 years old..I hear the kids mentioning all the "good memories" they have of Cabrini, yet I didn't hear one example of what was happy about it...I feel for them, though, & I truly hope good things will come.

  • Us churdrens could make a difference up in this world. What a liberal hippy teacher... why doesn't teach some grammar to those poor kids so people understand what they're saying.

  • these children talk like they are old they only been on this earth a few years and they talk like they been here 40 or 50 years. i like it though. this was great . lol

  • These 7th Graders sure are large for their age.

  • and I will cast the first stone... even better, how about a brick?!? stupid bible quotes.

  • ''school kids'' and they still talk ebonics.

  • Before you criticize with your racist remarks, example your own grammar... A person speaks a language, they do not "talk" a language.

  • *examine.

  • the little future thugs still talk jibberish... examine : you can send them to school for the rest of their lives and they'll still speak incorrectly. is that better bitch? why don't you go and try to teach those hoods your vast gramatical knowledge. Because these teachers failed.

  • Yes, calling me a bitch certainly makes your point. In fact, anytime someone disagrees with you it is best to insult them, especially if you have no real argument.

You cannot blame these people for speaking they way their parents speak any more than you can blame a German from speaking German. As proven by your earlier comment, even you the complainant, do not have perfect grammar. Let he who is without sin throw the first stone.

  • typo corrections: they=the, from=for

  • That is good. Keep insulting me. Yes, call me a twat. That makes you... uh, awesome. It really proves your point how ignorant OTHERS are.

Still no argument? Neat. I made typos... excellent point. I am caucasian so I do not see the connection.

    You are wasting my time.

  • I am awesome! thank you! My point is, you're just as ignorant as the kids in this video. you did my typo's after correcting me. DUH!!

  • I "did my typo's"? I can only assume you mean "did more typos". Now writing "my" instead of "more" is a typo. Writing "typo's" instead of "typos" is poor grammar.

I certainly hope 1972 was not the year of your birth, because you have the maturity and IQ of a 12 year old. You can comment 100 more times, I am finished engaging with you. You see, that is what you do with children that act out. You refuse them the attention they are attempting to gain.

  • hahaha how many times did you have to read what you wrote just to make sure you didn't spell anything incorrect??? 10 or 12?? Back to my point...CB is nothing but negativity created by the trash that live there....don't blame the media! ''doz churldrens iz doom'd ''.

  • Damn..... I think that was a little harsh, I am one of those kids in this video and for you to be calling someone ignorant that makes you......... well, ignorant. I hate it when people like you, get on websites and leave the most stupid comments immaginable. You're nothing but a coward, because I know for a fact that you would never say that to a black persons face, especially not one from the video.

  • you want to make a bet??? I'm just speaking the truth. I don't care if you call me a coward or racist. It's the truth!

  • just cause ur black dont mean ur tough , i seen some small "crackers" twist up gangs up black "gangsters" and make em run ,just cause yall run that place dont mean u run the show kid

  • Hmmm... so what is exactly happening to all the residents? so some of them aren't gonna have a home to stay in? so will it really make things better to have more people living in the streets?

  • I agree with you blueliner74.This boy is dead because of some stupid bullshit. And girl X was raped and had roachspray sprayed down her throat. She is blind to this day because of that asshole.I understand regardless where you live good or bad.Home is home.and I understand they will miss it,that is where their friends are.and thats the only place they know. But Im sure they would get pass it.

  • why say goodbye to such a blight ? finally, they're gone !

  • Good timesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

    Good timesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

scatchin and survivin. Where's the Evans family?

  • A friend of mine lived in C-G until he was 14, and his family moved here to Houston in '94 (he now owns his own insurance firm). He told Nme all kinds of stories about crackheads sleeping in stairwells and people pissing in the hallways, not to mention a friend of his being hit by a stray bullet. He's happy to see it go.

Nonetheless, it's difficult to see something you've known your entire life destroyed before your eyes, no matter what it is, so I feel for these kids.

  • this ghetto is not my home...but maybe we can have a video tribute to the children's lives this place ruined ......DANTRELL DAVIS, GIRL X......anyone else have a few to name im sure what about the countless others KILLED BY REISDENT GD's in their WAR ON DRUGS.........this place CANNOT COME DOWN FAST ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!

  • Just looking out of the window and watching the asphalt grow. Thinking how it all looks hand me down GOOD TIMES! GOOD TIMES! Ain't we lucky we got them (boo ba boo boo booooooo) Good TIIIIIMIMIMIMIMMIMIMIMMIMIESS (yea)

  • good riddance

  • bye bye ghetto!!!!

  • It's so weird to have heard a lot about how the 60s housing projects were so bad for communities, and now hear people waxing nostalgic for these buildings. I guess anywhere does become home after a while, doesn't it? I know any place can be a mix of good and bad, but I find myself thinking that these kids may not know how much better their lives could be. At the end of the day, poverty is the real problem here. It limits one's options in life, to put it mildly, often making the not-good look ok.

  • your my hero....could you use your video camera and goto IRAQ.....go change those people too.....maybe id shed a tear for them before any of these shitheads!

  • realy why? you care more about some fool who lives half a world away then for people who live in your owb country, your own city your own comunity people that you might interact with every day and might not even know it

  • DANTRELL DAVIS was killed inthis hell hole for no reason.....SOME RESIDENt brutually raped and attempted to KILL GIRL X in another building......great place for gangs and crap to build their dynasty! Im sure u'd raise ur kids there too given the chance.....YOU are the idiot...get an education and realize these places need to be demolished....too bad they couldnt lock the GD's in the buildings before they get demolished.....id sleep better

  • thug life!

  • they tore down the projects so where we gone move next?-Rich Boy

  • i feel like it's a good thing to get rid of these horrible neighborhoods and build a place that people could prosper. I only worry about the people who are/used to live in Cabrini Green, you can take the people out of the projects but the projects is still in the people. Cabrini Green isn't known as gang territory and a bad place for no reason. Change is going to come and there needs to be help given to all sides. I don't understand how people are still living and wanting to live in the greens

  • i miss the green...i moved in 96...what does

Division & scott look like now?

  • no child was born into this world with a say about where they will live their life. we come into this world blessed, no more no less than all the rest. there is no shame in where you live. there is shame in judging others based on nothing but ignorance. love, peace, respect everybody. spider

  • you aint lie fareal

  • Mixed feelings after seein this. I grew up on Division and Wells's

  • Sorry to hear you have all lost your homes. Do you think you are better off with or without Cabrini Green?

  • people are actually proud to live there with bullets flying by their front doors...how sad

  • I know. Why would anyone with an IQ above a toaster be proud of living in housing paid for by taxpayers? GHETTO! Take care of yourselves, and stop making taxpayers support yo' parasitic behinds!!

  • Actualy these people do pay rent stupid ass, and these people did have there own private aforidible housing at one time but the city took the land and sold it to private devlopers and moved them to the p.j.s

  • I lived in Cabrini Green I agree it needs change but a lot people that I knew had hard working parents and grandparents, I really don't want say goodbye because we had good times, that out weighed the bad I don't expect anyone who did live there to understand how I feel I we miss all of the Good times and the People there I hate what the gangs and the drugs has made it become and what has happened to our young people along the way We had no where else to go

  • its sad for the ppl who actually worked for a living and went to school but the drug dealers did what they did to survive, an that was i big problem for the rest of the complex! so the man" did what he had to do for change! the definition of insanity is when one does the same thing over and over and expects a different result! my point being a lot of ppl wanted change or a different way of living! and a lot of ppl thought they were making a change by the way they were living!

  • yes...finally got rid of that shithole. gentrification!

  • yo dis iz wazup...i lived dere 4 bnout a yr...& da rest ov mi lyf in da southside but all in all it dont matter where u 4rom itz jus how well u can rep ya place...& i miss dis place....it waz wrong wit dey did....but itz amazing how dese kidz can stand up strong lyk dis i ogtta give em props...ya digg...Chi-Town stand up

    *ChiTownBoi*

  • Throw yo C's up FOLK NATION

  • why do you have to bring gang bullshit into it? you're the people that tore this community apart.

  • Cause I'm such a fuckn hard ass! strait up I sell crack to pregnant women and shit cause I got no honor it's real life shit I got no love and no pride I'm so hard I once took a shit in the stairs while all these bitches are pissin in the elevator, thats right I'm gagnsta wit it I even once threw a baby into a garbage shoot over a $3 crack rock and then I later found that I had the money in my other pocket what u thought? that i'm playin here? that this shit is a joke to me? REAL LIFE! REAL LIFE!

  • lame

  • your lame! for thinking i'm serouse! its a joke you lame ass bitch

  • What?!?

  • good video, I grew up there my whole life, you should watch some of my videos and tell me what you think

  • psshhhh i used to live right outside cabrini green,

    i say good riddance.

these people will be way better off out of there then in, that place kept people down without them ever knowing it.

    good riddance cabrini green

  • That's my old hood. We moved cause they was tearing it down. I hope that you get through to the goverment.I think your doing something really good for that community.

  • My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by the demise of Cabrini-Green Projects. Keep yall heads up!

  • wow, you are an amazing person...I think you really made a difference in some of these young lives. All it takes is a few people who actually care. My hats off to you.

  • thanks a lot! i really hope i did make a difference. it was a really amazing experience and i really and i'll never forget it.

  • You should do something for the harold ickes homes where i'm from. There are still a few buildings with people living in them and my cousins being some of them. I haven't lived there since 88 but my family still lives there and I still go. I lived at 2330 S. State Street Apt 706 and I had some of the best times of my life there and the view from the projects was incredible you could see the beautiful Chicago skyline and everything.

  • very nice =)
