not to mention the fact that the zr1 usually only gets to 205 mph but It's been higher before and it can do much better ford will not be able to completely make the new gt500 with these exact stats it will only reach 200 mph tops it'll still be way heavier not as agile or good when it comes to handling, the corvette is unparallel to the mustang in every way so dont be too dissapointed when you discover its not what it was chalked up to be :/

you guys arent making to much of a big deal over this shelby gt500 beating the zr1 thats not what its for, it cant even beat a z06 corvette right now and it has 45 more hp than the z06 this shelby only has 12 more hp which isnt much and on top of that the c7 vette is coming out the same time as the shelby, and they wont just redesign it, they're obviously gonna give it some serious upgrading, the shelby will never compare to the corvettes, its the camaros rival and the camaro will fight back too

@1101SEAN Actually, the Camaro already fought back to the 2012 GT500... And then the GT500 fought back to the Camaro fighting back and shut it down before it even came into production. I'm a Mustang enthusiast, but I'm interested to see a 1/4 mile race of the two cars. Each car will fight back, and the HP will just increase. So technically, these two cars will never stop fighting back. I'm not a GM guy but.. Go American car companies! :D

I'm just gonna say this, knowing what ford did with the 2010 GT and 2011 GT (Bigger engine, more HP) I don't think the price of the 2013 GT500 will change that much from last years model.

@Ecoteric Man if the GT500 didnt have launch control, new suspension, and revised gear ratios, you'd be right. But guess what. It has all the things i mentioned so you are better off putting money on the Shelby rather than the camaro.

@MayorMcCheese78 Ford is not trying to compete with the ZR1, this car was made in response to the Camaro ZL1, but ford is a bosss and overachieved so this car can actually give the ZR1 a run for its money.And as for price, the car is going to be $65-$70K which is alot less than the ZR1. plus its sexier =P

@zacheryds The Corvette ZR1 is a supercar in its own right...the 2013 Shelby GT500 is the best muscle car right now in terms of performance. I gurantee the 2013 GT500 would beat the previous year's supersnake just bc this car is lighter, more aerodynamic, and guess what, IT HAS LAUNCH CONTROL! That means it can get that power to the ground. You are partially correct, the Shelby GT500 was not intended to compete with the ZR1, but it absolutely can give it a run for its money.

Question is....did they fix the achilles heel of not having traction right off the line. There wise, it'll be just another bold high HP car with just a lot of bark and no bite. Motor Trend, Car and Driver as well as others have already proven this in real life. Corvette, Camaro and GT-R have shown this car's weakness. For Ford's sake I hope it does....tired of seeing too many Camaros.
