I know why this show didn't last - it had a Native American superhero LOL... Seriously, I loved this show as a kid along with Cops and Thunder Cats. Like most, I really loved 30 30 and Sarah Jane. This really made my day to find this... thanks!
i had thirty thirty the action figure and if my memory serves correct i had this epic battle with thirty thirty, mummra, and some m.a.s.k. cars and messed them all up.....stupid kid i was....
Strenght of the bear... Strenght of the bear.... STRENGTH OF THE GAWD-DAMNED BEAR! Aw fuck, Thirty-Thirty...I reckon ya oughta break out the horse-gun.
loved this as a kid. Now I'm 34 and if life has taught me one thing it is this: the folks who made this cartoon were the most tripped out acid-taking weed-smoking wackjobs known to man. A talking horse, a ball of fur and a planet based on the wild west marshalled by a native american who keeps everyone safe from the living skeleton that is Tex Hex? Acid. definitly.
Wow!...This used to be my shyt!...I remember picking this up on a canadian channel my parents tv picked up. I believe it was channel 11, but I miss the cartoons of the 80's. This brings back so many memories!
Charlie Adler was absent for the recording on this episode and "No Drums, No Trumpets"...who is the uncredited actress doing Dept. Fuzz's voice, Erika Scheimer or Susan Blu? Her voice is markedly more high and screechy, which is likely why Fuzz only had two or three lines, all told.
And Vipera had some set of tits on her for a reptile girl, I tell you what....
STRENGTH OF A BEAR! ...em STRENGTH OF A BEAR! ... my bear strength its ... GONE! take heed children this is what happens when you wank in the morning.
Anyone thinks Filmation went out with a bang on this one including Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night? remember that one? the dark and scary 80's Pinocchio movie.
Everyone I mentioned this cartoon to does not remember it..... But I could never forget it! With the current state our families are in and, the childrens love of worthless cartoons created today to dumb them down, I wish the sold this series now like the currently sell the thundercats on dvd! We all need Marshall Bravestar in our lives right about now.... Peace and Love...
Im sorry if upset any fans but this is unbelievably bad as were most Filmation products like He-Man. The Patronizing storyline, terrible characters, RUBBISH voice overs and poor animation style always pissed me off. The preachy undertones didn't help either. I am a massive 80s animation fan. Shows like TRANSFORMERS, GI JOE, VISIONARIES, THUNDERCATS and THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS were vastly superior. Japanese animation coupled with excellent writing and talented voice overs made them quality series.
Granted, He-man wasn't great, but other shows like this weren't so bad. Preachy undertones? They were aimed at children, of course they'd have moral lessons - frankly I prefer that to the senseless, storyless jumping and wooshing noises in modern animation.
I dislike the sense of duality implied by these toons, but then there's no story without an antagonist. Thundercats I loved, but it was no better than this, and be honest, it did have the same cloned archetypal characters as all the others.
Yes, I agree with some of your points. All of the shows I mentioned did in fact have moral agendas attached to them, but were incorporated into the script brilliantly, without going into third person (as He-Man did) and saying directly into the camera "hey kids, dont do this, because....".
Thundercats is so much better than this mediocre cheap crap! Go and watch an episode and do an honest comparison on the writing, animation, voiceovers, story concepts, etc. ....[CONTINUED BELOW]
[CONTINUED]....Filmation pumped a lot of crap out during the 80's..I attribute to their preference for using in house animation
techniques (notorious for their poor production quality) studios rather than their better Japanease and Korean counterparts.
Filmation didnt get the writing or voice talent right either. REAL BAD. LOL. .I watched all of these shows when I was a kid and look back on them now and can honestly say all the shows I mentioned in the 1st comment have stood the test of time.
Firstly, GI Joe DID do the preachy talking to the camera thing, in fact he was infamous for it. I personally hated ghostbusters, never watched transformers (although I hear it was cheap) and never even heard of visionaries
If I am brutally honest then yes I do prefer Thundercats, but not because I think it was better quality, it's just more my kinda show and I have fond memories. I honestly can't see much difference between that and this, I guess the stories were a little better, albeit cliche.
Ive watched every episode of G..I.JOE probably a couple hundred times during my life and can safely say that not one episode in all the 2 seasons has this PEP TALK, apart from the public P.A.s. Same with Transformers Generation 1.
The Real Ghostbusters was more of paranormal/comedy genre and had excellent writing, but as you pointed out its not to everyones taste, but still a quality show.
All of these shows had some forgetable episodes within the seasons but were generally of good quality.
Now Pinocchio and the Emperor of the Night from 1987 was better then any of Filmation's other stuff. Now that was an animated movie and had suprisingly good theatrical quality animation that took 5 years to make and proves Filmation doesn't do schlocky animation. Remember that one?
agreed, it is a great cartoon, deeply deeply missed, no caroon of today can meet bravestars standard, music is very enchanting as well, this was a brilliant cartoon by filmation where they treated kids with an intelligence
In South Korea back then I saw a kick-ass version of Sarah Jane on sale. Did you have that toy gun too? It was so realistic and made all kinds of sounds with lights and even rumbling of the gun. I always wanted one of those.
I like that the way that dinosaur lookin one suddenly appears and then just carries on talking ..totally ignoring the fact that it is a six foot walking lizard amongst humans.
Oh man this was such a badass show. The intro music was awesome.

3.Thirty-thirty hates EVERYTHING.
4.Bravestarr has a crush on J.B. There you have it!
