of all the behind the scenes videos here on youtube about this film, this is probably the one that sums it all up best. there's some terrific insight here. the movie as well as the original book continue to astound me. watching, reading, absorbing all these new bits of information, getting so entangled in the world of this story and these characters... it's not to be taking lightly. it is an exercise in patience, but ultimately so worthwhile. i've learned so much about myself. i love it.

Carey's acting was amazing, and the film was extremely touching. It's refreshing to see a movie with no twists and turns and manipulations. Even though I knew what was going to happen, and the plot wasn't complex, just watching everything unravel was a beauty. Seriously, I wish there were more films like this.

The actors were brilliant but in my opinion the narrative was muddled. I think this film was 2 or 3 scenes short of greatness. Carey is so gorgeous when she smiles or when in profile, and her voice is beautiful. I look forward to more Carey Mulligan films.
