  • I'm Irish and I still believe in trees! :D

  • I was raised cath and spent years listening to priests and nuns, i never said anything about any individual priests and nuns. This is about the corporate structure of the cath ch.

What an individual prists or nun believes about the church is irrelevent in the same way that what a cleaner of bill gates office believes about microsoft is also irrelevent. !00s of years of precedent is also irrelevent, they were just as interested in profit back then, as now.

The so called "theology" is nonsense

  • @sidvidkid

"The so called "theology" is nonsense"

Then you were not taught the teachings of the Church, your functionally illiterate to this subject, and your commentary is superficial at best.

    "evil inst "

Evil institution? It seems reasonable commentary from you was impossible from the start.

If you're going to be that black & white, talking to you will benefit neither of us. You're stuck in your ways, and the boxes you put people into.

  • @Alaskaslim

As i already said i was taught this nonsense for many years. But i look for corroborating evidence rather then simply accept the self serving insinuations of weird dress wearing creepy men.

So you are saying that when people commit crimes then this does not put them automatically into a category or "box" called "criminal" or "evil"?

I dont create the "boxes" i simply observe the facts and accept them regardless of what those people say to justify their crimes.

For every crime you list, I will list two good deeds the Church has done.

Not every priest is like Father Damien, or the Missionaries who trained & defended the Guarani Indians from 1,000s of Portuguese and Spanish troops, but nor are they all like the the criminally negligent who ran the Indian schools,or the Conquistadors that subjected the Natives.

I make no excuses for the Church, I merely see more than just the black & white.

  • @Alaskaslim

Dude, i never said there wasnt good people in the church, This is about the ruling elite at the top.

If a member of the mafia gives money to charity that doesnt make the mafia a good organisation.

My original point still stands, priests are made to be unmarried as a means to maximise profits for the church.

father damo can wash the feet of a thousand river dancers after a long nite on the tiles, that wont change the power structures goals and methods.

  • @sidvidkid

"This is about the ruling elite at the top."

Then this debate is over, John Paul II personally sprung open abuse cases, turned over evidence to the police, and met with victims, many of whom gave their forgiveness.

It's his policies the Church now follows, Benedict XVI has not changed anything.

  • @Alaskaslim

    zenit . org/article-33510?l=english

Archbishops were the one bringing the claims forward, and still are the ones pushing further reforms.

The "ruling elite", apparently have a conscience after all.

  • @Alaskaslim

Ur clearly a card carrying believer, and questioning your beliefs is too uncomfortable for you. There is no doubt that your church has been abusing children and covering it up for generations now. Soon, with luck, the courts will settle it. I wont even go into the wars they start, their backing of hitler, the Ustaše, the spanish inquisition....etc.

The world is turning against this evil fake ch, i will let time be the arbiter of this debate. Ur apologies are saddening

  • @sidvidkid

By the way, thank you for the video link, I already knew the Canadians had an ugly history dealing with the natives there, and I knew of Indian boarding schools here in the U.S., but I wasn't aware of how large the problem was in Canada, that natives are not allowed citizenship or even to vote unless they give up their lands.

Knowing this, I don't believe the Canadian Government is evil either, it's just a hatred they need to learn to get past, as the U.S. Gov't did.

  • @sidvidkid

    Sensationalism, that's all you've got.

  • Hey look! Yet another video entirely comprised of bullshit

  • Yeah, lets go back to believing in fairy tales once again, that would be progressive.

  • Good video, fair play gerry a logical reasonable response. I like that you keep some of your faith. Some athiest have so much hate for religion and against people with a different idoligy. tolerance is what they are missing but defiently seem to have it. u got my vote!

  • Ah, a man who sees Christianity for what it is, a peaceful spiritual religion. Modern day "Christians" are nothing like what Christ had in mind, in my own humble opinion.

  • @Arborem

Fair enough, as Ghandi, a man who frequently quoted the New testament put it, he would have been a Christian, if he had ever met one.

  • You believe in fetishism, then?

Me too, all hail the sun god Ra!

  • let's all pick and choose what we like from each religion and form a one-world religion with a single person or governing body at the head claiming they finally know the truth. then we can all worship ourselves or the elements or whatever and be finally united in the truth we/they made up. Gee...I wonder where we've seen this happening before...Oh! I remember! that book us Christians call "Revelations". Chapter 13 to be exact. I pray you all find Jesus before the end. God Bless you all.

  • He is not a true Catholic. Kill him.

  • EVERY religion is the blind leading the blind. religion is a tool of conquerers to assimilate the victims of colonization. sure, it's done great things, but it's been so perverted by greed and power hungry fanatics that it isn't about peace or acceptance anymore. catholicism is VERY wrong in some ways. denying its priests sex is a terrible thing. it isn't purity or holiness of any kind. it's commanding human beings to live without emotion, without the most basic human desires, or be damned.

  • @NKDP1 Priestly celibacy is not a Dogma, it is a discipline. Catholic Priests in the Eastern Rites are not required to remain celibate. That is something that is really only had to be enforced in the West/Latin Rite, because of the formation of Bishoprics, etc.

The Catholic Church and its nearly 2000 year history is more complex than perhaps you have dared to imagine.

  • @bcharville That's interesting, and good to know. I never really got into the complexities of it, I didn't realize that there were different, disciplines(?), of Catholicism. I still hold firm on my belief that celibacy is wrong though. No good comes out of it. But, thank you for telling me, I'll make sure to be fully informed before I voice my opinions from now on!

  • @NKDP1 No problem. :) There are rites(such as Byzantine) that use different rules than the Latin(Roman) rite. byzcath0org :)

I think it has done good things though, like preventing clergy from forming, theocracies, bishoprics etc; in effect they were establishing their own monarchies and families like the Borgias and the de Medicis were using their clerical positions to gain power so I think their intentions for requiring celebacy were good... In any case, have a great weekend! :D :D :D

  • @bcharville Thanks! looks like I'll be doing some reading. You have a good one too!

  • @bcharville

Celibacy has nothing to do with the bible, it is simply about finance. When a priest bishop monk dies without a legal partner or children then all his possessions fall back into the hands of the church whereas if he had children or a spouse they would be entitled to some part or arguably all of his possessions.

  • @sidvidkid

"Celibacy has nothing to do with the bible, "

Not the bible per se, but it does have to do with the mind set the pisthood is meant to embody.

When you're a priest, you're supposed to be "one with the church", Married to God in a sense. You need to have as much of yourself focused on that a possible. Having a wife and child, can detract from that.

  • @Alaskaslim

    That is public relations nonsense.

Everything is always about economics. Priests are not allowed marry so as to maximise profit and wealth for the roman "church",

Its not possible to be one with anything, dont fall for their lies.

  • @sidvidkid

    "That is public relations nonsense."

That's what the priests themselves are taught, and considering priests run the church...

    "maximise profit and wealth "

The Church's bank accounts have been redlining for decades, they do not operate at a profit.

If you think that, I'd welcome you to prove it.

Quite honestly, I think your one of those whose yet again confused the difference between Asset Wealth, and liquid wealth. I get a lot of those.

  • @Alaskaslim

Of course priests are taught that, they are hardly gonna say otherwise are they?

From a simple google search: "The Vatican has billions of shares in the most powerful international corporations such as Gulf Oil, Shell, General Motors, Bethlehem Steel, General Electric, International Business Machines, T.W.A., etc. At a conservative estimate, these amount to more than 500 million dollars in the U.S.A. alone."

Asset wealth was what i was talking about in the first place

  • @sidvidkid

"Asset wealth was what i was talking about in the first place"

Lol, then you admit you're wrong. Liquid wealth means money.

You can own a mansion, and be poor, that's the difference between asset and liquid.

And dear God, owning stock in corporations? So what? I OWN STOCK IN CORPORATIONS!

"500 Million Dollars", while the charities give out several Billion each year, want to see the figures?

  • @Alaskaslim

    Cont'd...

Also, liquid wealth can and is quickly turned into asset wealth as everyone with liquid wealth soon learns. Time magazine has an article estimating vatican wealth at 10-15 billion $US.

If your argument is that the catholic ch is not one of the richest organisations in the world then you are sadly mistaken.

The burden of proof would be upon you to prove the poverty of this corrupt and evil institution, if that is indeed what you are trying to assert.

  • @Alaskaslim

    Cont'd

In any case, whether the cath ch is rich beyond imagination or not was not my point. The point is that like any other corporation, this one does what it can to maximise its wealth while spinning PR in its favour, and not allowing priests to marry is just a profit seeking strategy. Why else would they do it? there is nothing about it in the bible, the book which the vatican pretend to follow while really making up their own rules as they go along.

  • @sidvidkid

"while spinning PR in its favour"

That the Priests are married to the Church is apart of the theology. You can't call it crap when there's precedent for this going back 100s of years, you just sound like someone whose

    a. Not catholic, and

    b. has never talked to a priest.

What, are there no sincere priests or nuns? Is that what you think? Yes, I suppose mother Teresa and John Paul II risked their lives to save people for kicks.

  • @Alaskaslim

And one more thing, why would you take the word of this evil inst with a history of rape murder war torture carnage slavery poverty and stupidity inflicted on all the people who accepted it, yet you take the time to debate and argue with me, one who as far as you know is perfectly moral and upstanding person?

Coz it seems like strange double standard.

Let me guess, raised cath and cant bring yourself to question beloved authority figures?

  • Hypocrite has not got a christian bone in his body.

  • @cozener1 are you referring to yourself or a third party?

  • Catholics are the way of the future.

  • Catholics are a dying breed..

  • @jamesrp007 People have said that for nearly twenty centuries. The problem for you is that your side has and always will be wrong... Mwahahahaha...

  • A good man!

  • UNSCRUPULOUS HEATHENS CAN GATHER UP THE RELIGIOUSLY DELUDED AND USE THEM FOR MANY ILLICIT PURPOSES. IE. POLITICAL , FINANCIAL OR JUST TO GARNER AN INCOME FROM THEM AND LIVE IN THE LAP // REMOVE THE SCALES FROM YOUR EYES PEOPLE AND SEE YOU’VE BEEN DUPED.

  • Gerry Adams Paedo

  • Does your Buddha offer you salvation? Throwin' the baby out with the bathwater is what I say you're doin"

  • Gerry Adams. Paedophile supreme. Protecter of child murderers and sexual assaults.

  • came across this purely by accident...trying to choose my words carefully so as not to sound offensive but i do find his views on Christianity quite ironic.

  • @Flamorgan Yes Gerry loves the roman paedo church and the roman paedo church loves Gerry. Birds of a feather. Check out this Yank fraud on here who thinks he knows the score because he " visited Ardoyne ". F**king gong show m8.

  • gerry adams is a terrorist, murderer and a liar. This coming from a catholic

  • @haz464 Good on you for telling the truth a chara.

  • WHERE WERE THE BRAVE MEN OF THE RA WHEN ROME WAS SODOMISING OUR SONS AND ENSLAVING OUR WOMEN? THE RYAN REPORT, THE MURPHY REPORT, THE CLOYNE REPORT, THE FERNS REPORT.

  • A shortage of razors, yo!

  • The man has the blood of Irish people on his hands!

  • This cunt does not deserve to be on a Youtube channel promoting "thinking".

  • @90JFB Filthy language. No excuse.

  • Gerry is so creepy. Keep him away from your children.

  • @karezza6 Adams is an Anglo-Saxon name. Take a look at the man! Does he look Irish to you? To my mind, he looks Jewish.

There's definitely something fishy about that Gerry Adams fella...

  • @usagoodbyeisayhello It is possible to find out if he is Jewish if you'll pull down his nickers.

  • @jslasher1 LOL I'd rather just tickle his beard!

  • Gerry, its ok 2 b a Celtic free man.

  • Like so many other sicks Adams at one point wanted to be a catholic priest.

  • kook

  • @AnimalWelfare1000: If you think 1,000,000 people died in the invasion of Iraq, your math skills are even more limited then your moral sense.

As Blair stopped a mass murderer in the case of Saddam, I cogratulate him in that case. As he failed to stop this Adams psychopath & in fact dealt equivocally w/ him, I condemn him in that case. Since the British signed a treaty w/ an independent Ireland, people like Adams have no defense at all. It was just bigotted hatred.

  • @VictorLepanto Over 1,000,000 innocent iraqis were killed within the first few months of the invasion of Iraq, that was just from the initial bombing campaign. Why don't you educate yourself before you make ignorant statements.

  • @WorshipInTruth: Oh yeah, well, Saddam murdered a billion Americans on 9/11. See I can act like a petulant child making up meaningless absurd numbers just like you. A million Iraqis, you are too stupid.

  • @VictorLepanto First of all saddam had nothing to do with 9/11. Secondly, it is estimated by mainstream media sources that over a million iraqis have died as a result of the conflict since the U.S. invasion in 2003. The "Opinion Research Business" and other research groups calcuate that approximately 1.03 million iraqi's have died as a result of the war. This information is published by mainstream sources such as reuters.

  • @WorshipInTruth: You are just a child making up numbers to make yourself seem big in your own eyes. Most of the killing was done by the Islamiist & fellow Iraqis.

& Saddam killed a gazilllion Kurds, so everything we did was justified.

  • @VictorLepanto A gazillion kurds?? Laugh.... I am no fan of Saddam but the U.S. government has a much larger body count then Saddam and the crooks within the U.S. government are the ones that put Saddam into power to begin with. This world is full of crazy leaders and groups who committ murder and genocide daily, are we to wage constant war around the world with everybody? Please be practical.

  • @WorshipInTruth: I have no intention of discussing this issue w/ you. You are obviously a person so immersed in a paranoic fantasy world, it is useless. You dismiss the very real attrocities Saddam committed b/c you are to obsesssed by your paranoic hatreds.

  • @VictorLepanto I think you should at least be consistent.... China committs atrocities as well, should we go to war with them? If you were consistent with your principles we would be in the middle of World War 3. I am expressing hatred towards no one, I am an American patriot for crying out loud, you are the one with hatred and promoting strife and war mongering.

  • @WorshipInTruth: A foolish consistancy is the hobgobblin of little minds.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness several times. Both are highly talented men with thoughtful demeanors. While lesser men try to demonize them both they never fail to impress me. History will judge them both very well. The world needs more of them and I only regret that we do not have that quality of leadership here in the US.

  • @chairde I suppose if meeting with known terrorists and paedophile protectors "impresses" you, then what s left to say. But then again you are an American and we know how easily "impressed" you all are.

  • @runevidgeek3 I was in Belfast some time ago actuallly it was 1997 and stayed in the Ardyone area. They were the finest people I ever had the honor to meet. In fact I was also impressed with Derry as a city. The place is friendly and the people are very nice to Americans. I would encourage all Americans to visit the six counties. You are just bitter because the Good Friday Agreement changed everything.

  • @chairde WHO said anything about the people of Ardoyne? WHO? Word up . That is where I come from. My mother was born in Cranbrook Gardens..So you went for a visit. Whipping shit. And who said anything about the GA and how I feel about it? That s right. YOU SPIN DOCTOR. WE were talking about your LOVE for Gerry Adams and Martin Mc Guiness the known TERRORISTS AND PAEDOOPHILE PROTECTORS.

  • @runevidgeek3 You should lessen your salt intake and calm down. I also met Martin in New York City at a Clan na Gael meeting. A real gentleman he is and very smart. Wasn't Martin the head of education in the six counties for awhile? I sure he did a wonderful job as did Alex Maskey who was the Lord Mayor of Belfast. You live in Belfast so you must have appreciated Mayor Maskey when he was in office. Who is the Lord Mayor now? Isn't it a SF guy? Ah God Bless the GFA!

  • @chairde Not a bad diversion for a yank. Try sticking with the topic at hand Hoss.

  • @runevidgeek3 OK then, SF is a great political party and I admire the leaders like Gerry and Martin. The IRA men are Irish Patriots who fought for freedom and justice. The British do not and never did belong in the six counties. The only reason the GFA was signed by the UK was to get itself out of a bad situation. Is it clear now?

  • @chairde Sure Hoss you know all about it living comfortably in Yanksville,

The IR a KILLED more R catholics, than the British army and the protestant paramillitaries combined. Great protrectors of the Irish ...MY Arse.

  • @chairde Have you ever seen young women stripped naked, tied to a lampost with tar and feathers poured over them Hoss? Will I f**king well have. Crime? Talking to British soldiers..WHO would do such a thing? The great protectors of the Irish AKA the

IR a.. If I were you, I would catch myself on and comment on things I actually know something about.

  • @runevidgeek3 I challenge you to support your statement with facts. Name the girl and where this was done. Well you can't because you just pulled that nonsense out of your imagination.

  • @chairde Go f**k yourself you stupid yank bastard. There were more than one. It is well documented and I was there to witness it.

  • @runevidgeek3 So as usual you have no facts to back up your statements. That's because you don't have the common sense that God gave a duck. I bet you live in state housing and collect the dole. You are unemployed, undereducated and drink your life away in some pub. I have one question for you: Have you ever kissed a girl?

  • @chairde I am not interested in your autobiography yank. I never do battle with an UNARMED man. I could buy and sell you, you ignorant American f**ker.

  • @chairde As shoppers hurried home at dusk, they were startled to see two young men, aged 18 and 19, being marched through Belfast's Falls Road slum, heavily populated by Catholics. A group of angry members of the I.R.A. (the outlawed Irish Republican Army) tied the two boys to a lamppost and poured cold tar varnish and feathers over their shaved heads

  • @runevidgeek3 Never happened. Give some facts or go home.

  • @chairdeIn Seamus Heaney's poem Punishment, the tarring and feathering of Catholic women who fraternized with British soldiers during The Troubles in the 1970s is made reference to. Heaney juxtaposes this with the punishment of Iron Age bog body the Windeby Girl who was supposedly punished for infidelity, suggesting that the punishment meted to women in Northern Ireland is very much rooted in ancient tribal traditions. NOW F**K AWAY OFF YOU RIDICULOUS FRAUD.

  • @runevidgeek3 There are poems about all types of things and that doesn't make it real now does it. Try to stick to reality or simple don't post anything. Your anti Catholic rants simply have no basis in reality or rational thinking. You have yet to produce a name or a date or anything based in fact. I'll give you a real name and a real fact. My cousin Majella O'Hare was shot and killed by one of your "British" soldiers. Now look that up!

  • @chairde Aye you know everything Yankie doodle. Lets not forget you visited there. Your last comment tells me volumes about you. Now f**k away off you fraud, poser, wanna be.

YOU are the reason most of us hate the Americans, arrogant pricks with revisionist history,

  • @runevidgeek3 I know who I am. We Irish have always known who we are. It is you Orangies who are lost. You have no idea what the world is like and you see your little state slipping away day by day. There is nothing that you can say or do now to stop the six counties from slipping away into history and you know it. The Orange Halls are empty now and the next generation slips farther away from the "Union". It is just a matter of time.

  • @runevidgeek3 Hahaha "Word Up" are you trying to be hip. You watch too many rap videos.

  • @mcproductions91: The only think your proving is what an idiot you are.

  • @mcproductions91: Don't give me this crock about Sinn Fein just being a political party. It is no secret that the IRA & Sinn Fein are the same thing. He was a leader of the IRA, a terrorist organisation. He is culpable in all IRA murders.

  • @mcproductions91: I, like most people, have never set off a bomb in a crowd of people. This soulles bastard can't say that. He isn't just a murderer, he is a mass murderer. The main difference b/t him & Geoffry Dahmer (I mean beside the fact Dahmer killed fewer people) is that Dahmer had enough respect for his victims not to spout a bunch of self righteous political clap-trap over their mutilated corpses.

  • This man is no Catholic, as a murderer he is an excommunicant. Naturally such a man is "spiritual" rather then religious.

  • @VictorLepanto I thought the whole point of Christ's message was love and forgiveness so if Gerry did murder anyone, which he hasn't, then he would be welcomed into the church with open arms "Hate the sin not the sinner". Now if an atheist like myself knows this it really does speak volumes about yourself and other people like you.

    Sinn Féin Abú.

    Beidh Ár Lá Linn.

  • @hihellohowareyou1000 --Atheist = New Nazis

  • @PublicChristianity99 no it dosen't

  • If you all had FREEDOM OF RELIGION you could then tend to your own business and stop hating, killing, and all this non-sense. THOU SHALL NOT KILL is taught on both sides.

  • @VickyGoss Then teach that to margaret thatcher, the queen and the rest of britain...

  • @MichaelDeery1 Throughout history England has been known for forcing their religious views on people. That's one reason people left and went to America.

  • Respond to this video... People should definitely have a choice when it comes to something so personal.

  • @hihellohowareyou1000 --No sir we WONT.

  • People should read the book:- Rome Sweet Home by Scott Hahn

  • KILL IT WITH FIRE

  • @iFuckinHateCatholics --Long live the Catholic Church.

  • "We used to believe in trees"

  • He'll soon be chpping sticks with John Knox and King Billy!!

  • What a load of absolute bullshit!

  • Comment removed

  • very articulate man

  • My comment wasn't aimed at Gerry Adams or Sinn Fein. If you read the earlier post from AF you would see that.

  • Pity they don't denounce child abuse.

  • @mosttrophies don't come out with a stupid comment like that sinn féin and gerry adams have never supported child abuse and have always and will always denounce any form of abuse against anyone and especially against children

  • Maybe Adams should start paying more attention during Mass. I mean every priest I've ever met gives a dozen homilies a year denouncing abortion as a sin.

  • @UlstersDavo You cant criticise us Catholics when your in Hell for all eternity

  • adams finally admits he is a heretic

  • @brodiegr But is he an Anglo-Saxon, or a Jew?

    /watch?v=zwPy0tCjRn0

  • well there it is, he admits he beleives in other gods

  • This = Dillon O'Laughlin lol

  • It's nice to hear your admittance (albeit it reluctant and contradictory -but such is man) that a raw feel for nature predominantly fuels your sense of spirituality. The mad wee 'country' of the Vatican is certainly no avenue for this. I wish you good luck on your journey. Truth is like water, Gerry, it will always find its level.

  • that's a nice comment Richard.Pity it doesn't mean shit.

  • @UlstersDavo Why are u alive nigger? Take some advice.Get tf outta Ireland cos you're not welcome.Even england hates you.BTW Ulster is Irish.Hence Ulster, like Munster,Leinster.Sooner the better you coons are out of our great land.

  • Ask any Christian why do they not believe in Roman or Greek Gods? And they say there is no evidence. A rational answer.

  • wasn't he the man who tried to help Ireland? Am I wrong? I remember this man as a legend.

  • gerry, tell the truth your only worried about the british money not about the people who died for ireland and how much power you can have in your own back garden you have split ireland bigger than the british did

  • Part of Jesus message was that God existed even if some people do not belive. The Kingdom of God exists wheather you belive it or not.

  • @MrRN222 Just because you say it dont make it real......The whole World could believe in one God and it still wouldnt make it true......Proof is the only answer to the question and there has never ever been a single shred of it.

  • @MrRN222 Just like Narnia.

  • @SethMcFartlane hahaha

  • Cant be a fantasy if millions believe and live by it.. Id call more a nightmare to be honest

  • Religion is a fantasy.

  • @qwertypoiu4321 It is but as an atheist myself i cant deny there's powerful messages in terms of morals through teachings in various religions.

  • @spanglehoff Unfortunately, mostly the messages are: Kill the unbeliever.
