  • your all fools, you hail something that would torture your soul for eternity without a second thought, i have fought with the daemons of the other world. seen the horrors that they possess, and you all sit here behind your screens giving them more power. fucking cretins. gather your own power and fight them! you have the strength in your true soul.

  • @MadProgresser

    Cool story bro.

  • @Fishandchipsguvnah you just proved my point......

  • Hail Cthulhu

  • Cthulhu 2012!!!

  • Ia!

  • Awesomeness!

  • great band!

  • I loved the story and i love this band :3

  • Cthulhu on guitar?...\m/O_o\m/

  • Cthulhu is hardly 'metal' in fact i seriously doubt that many of the people who play the awful dissonant noise that some call 'metal music' which is neither metal, nor music - have even READ the story entitled The Call of Cthulhu? In the story his form is actually described as being like 'plastic'.. bursting as a bubble when the boat runs over his body during the escape. The ONLY connection between Cthulhu and metal music is that they are both horrible, and could cause insanity.

  • @Mikanojo I have read each and every Lovecraft story ever published, and H.P.'s descriptions of cultic seances do read a lot like a 19th century description of a 20th century heavy metal concert.

  • @BusterXXXL Do you mean the orgiastic ululations of half-naked primitives, like those described in the Call of Cthulhu? In metal concerts.. only the mosh pit, viewed naively from a distance might appear similar - but honestly the cultists are better organized. A 'seance' is nothing like that. A 'seance' is a much more civilized, hobbyist pastime of the 19th century upper class who were attempting to either communicate with the spirits of the dead, or fleece gullible people, or both.

  • @Mikanojo I think it would make more of a difference if you put your hateful opinion somewhere that matters.

  • @VioletAnarchist If you cannot cope with an honest difference of opinion, especially an educated one, then really you should not be on YouTube. There is no hate in pointing out that there is really no connection between Lovecraft's Cthulhu and metal music.

  • @Mikanojo Ok, I'll put it this way. I think it would make more of a difference if you put your peaceful, loving opinion somewhere that matters.

Seriously, dude. You don't need to sound smart on YOUTUBE.

  • @VioletAnarchist YouTube with its curious recommendations system brought me here because i had been watching Lovecraft / Cthulhu videos.. aside from the name and the horror aspects.. i just honestly do not see a connection. i do understand that most metal bands celebrate filth and horror in their music.. many metal band names will have some form of sadism / killer or Satanic evil connect.. black, sabbath, death/"deth" Reich/"ryche" cannibal, corpse..

  • @Mikanojo The writings of Lovecraft have inspired many different kinds of musicians over the years, in all genres of music. I've even heard Lovecraftian jazz bands and so forth. No single genre of music is more or less suited to having Lovecraftian influences than any other. But Bal Sagoth is certainly one of the best "Lovecraftian" metal bands, because the band's entire lyrical concept is heavily influenced by the pulp horror, fantasy and sci-fi of the 1930s.

  • @Asmodeus8797 Now i understand.. so what makes this metal band "Lovecraftian" is that the group has stated that their music is inspired by the writing of Lovecraft - not because they were intending to create music that was in any way associated with the story Call of Cthulhu or with Cthulhu or with Lovecraft.. they just like his writing and cite it as inspiration - OK.

  • @Mikanojo I don't care. No one else does. Put it somewhere where people do.

  • @VioletAnarchist If it does not matter to you then why do you continue to spend your time writing to me just to tell me you do not care? Seriously why drag this on just to be annoying? lol Shoo.. go do some thing you do care about.

  • @VioletAnarchist I like to listen to this song over and over. It's because Cthulu is just so metal. I don't see a problem with telling you that you're an arrogant, pseudo-intellectual prick who acts like good grammar makes you intelligent and gets irate because cthulu is in a metal song while I'm listening to Cthulu metal.

  • Thanks for posting pics of the band!

  • Alright, 3:32 is the bomb. Who's the artist? (And please don't say Cthulhu...)

  • AND THERE FELL A GREAT STAR FROM THE HEAVENS BURNING, OLDER THAN THE SPHINX OR BABYLON! Love this song! :)

  • HAIL CTHULHU!

  • Cthulhu was here before the time of us mere mortals, he is the metal! whorship him!

  • you say it wrong... Lovecraft, himself, said that the closest we could come to saying Cthulhu, is by putting the tip of your tongue at the roof of your mouth and coughing KUHLOOLOO.

  • Hey man, you should allow this to be played on iPods. Go to the settings and change it.

I hate the fact I can't rock out to this 24/7

  • @Jwatson626 do you know anything? stfu. you conformist pig. go to some faggy as Black veil brides video and talk about your pop music. we who follow the occult dont need poser assholes talking about modern culture. fuck off, sincerely the bunch of people who say fuck you:)

  • Cthulhu is said to be worshiped by degenerate, almost bestial men. But I doubt even them would find such a cacophony pleasing.

  • Oh Cthulhu, How your influence has spread. Lovecraft.... one of the best writers of horror of all time. Hands down.

  • kutulu rules!!!! not only the seas he rules the metalheadz

  • Kutulu"s real you Know!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @jwatson626 WTF?!

ti parlo in italiano sperando tu capisca: questo è un gran gruppo e se non ti piace affari tuoi, abbi rispetto

ossia, in inglese: this is a really great band; so if you don't like, shut up, and just have respect.

  • @jwatson626

    ALWAYS!

  • Hell yeah, This is some serious mothafucking metal!!!!! I always listen to this song while fucking my girlfriend, it makes me extremely horny \m/ Hail Cthulhu

  • @PowerDarkMetal

    "\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/"

  • Still incredibly epic.

I'm completely out of the arrogance and elitism within metal now. But Bal-Sagoth will always make me ejaculate.

  • Cthulhu fhtagn.

  • I'a Cthulhu! Once the stars are right its your rightful time to rule us! We shall worship you until the end of time! The human race as its despiteful civilized selves has come to an end! Let us take our rightful place in this world and become the savage beasts we are! There is no God or Devil! There us only Cthulhu and the Outer Gods!

  • Hail Cthulhu! R'lyeh shall rise again!!!!

  • f. awesome!

  • Hail Cthulhu!

  • What's he say at 2:06?

  • It's:

    Kutulu, Absu,

    Kutulu, Nar Mattaru

  • Isnt Nar Matturu a Sumerian god..? I'm sure Nile have mentioned him at some point..

  • @Anubiss86- It wouldn't surprise me. Absu is a Mesopotamian god, and Lovecraft took the name Dagon from an old Semitic god, though He was related to grain and agriculture, not gribbly fish people.

  • Haha I know Lovecraft did kinda twist the mythology of most things ;p although I thought Dagon was also Meso/Sumerian..? Still, can't really fault a classic horror writer like Lovecraft. Some of the things that ran through his head.. He was WAY before his time lol!

  • @misternarf That was in Mesopotamia, but in Levant, for Phoenicians and Philistines, who are maritime peoples, Dagon was indeed related to the sea...

  • @Asmodeus8797

    Hail Dagon.

    Hail Yog Sathoth.

    Hail Azathoth.

    Hail Cthulhu.

  • @ZombieBite1991

    Dagon at first palce?!

    Ia Ia Yog Sothoth!

    Ia Ia Azatoth!

    Ia Ia Cthulhu!

    :)

  • @DontSendMeSpam

    haha no kidding

  • Cthulhu is more metal than you will ever dream of being.

  • @bobthemaneater And he dreams of eating you!

  • @bobthemaneater cthulhu for the win

  • This argument is over and I won, I wont waste my time any longer with the likes of you. Go ahead, try to justify yourself to me even after I stop replying, it's only proof you need to prove something and get in the last word. I'm simply replying to end this argument, because you've boughten no good points to the table.

  • And then you have the people who ONLY like old metal to make a 'I'm a real metal head" statement, who gives a fucking shit. and you clearly are denying anything to do with lovecraft simply because I like them and you don't like a band influenced by them, only because you want to make a point. You're quite transparent. Very, rather.

  • You sound like a fucking child. 'us black metallers'

I'm 17 and I'm not where as fucking dumb, blind ignorant and well, pathetic as you are. I have nothing against people who dress a certain way, but when they back it up by 'it's a life style' are just immature, and need to grow up. People dress a certain way for the reactions they get from it. It's all a childs game and completely meaningless.

  • And Lovecraft's horror came from his dreams, things unconceived by human kind. complete out of this world and uncomprehendable.

  • No... you're not a real man... no matter how hard you try to convince yourself. I don't dress like anything because I'm better than you, I have no care for social status and materialism as I see a lot of people in those categories drown in their own egotism and have NO gain what so ever. Only a loss, a loss of sense of self. No one really cares if you dress like that you know.. MOST of the people in black metal bands.. don't dress like that off of stage, if you haven't noticed.

  • Just because you listen to one band that was maybe considered black metal in their time doesn't mean you know shit about the genre. Want to know why? Because they're only small roots of what it's evolved into and how it's depicted today, also, for a guy who's over hmm.. 30? You're quite ignorant and fucking stupid.

  • and you're wrong again it was Lacrimosa that brought the black metal in.

  • Rofl you're a fucking dumb ass of course he's dead but his works have been more recognized you idiot. Nearly ALL HORROR WORKS and even video games have some sort of reference or influence from Lovecraft stories.

  • Comment removed

  • Whitesnake a black metal originator? R.L. Stine an influential horror writer?

JWatson626 is clearly having a giggle, and delights in people taking the bait. ;)

  • If you think they are black metal you are indeed living in a fantasy. These guys probably never even met Mortiis. They could use some vocal lessons from Ville Vallo, too.

  • You just made yourself look extremely pathetic. By the way.

  • I did? You're the one that said Lovecraft is the most influential horror writer. EVERYONE who knows anything about literature knows that R.L STINE is the most influential horror writer of the 21st Century.

I did some research for you, by the way. HP Lovecraft is DEAD. You obviously do not know this.

  • You know fucking shit about Black Metal. Clearly you know NOTHING of H.P. Lovecraft either.

  • I know everything about Black Metal and I've never heard of any H.P. Lovecraft so they're obviously not important. They must suck if you like them anyway.

  • No man you know shit and HP lovecraft isn't a fucking band dumb ass

  • Singer, drummer, whatever. I don't care who he is. If he's friends with you he's obviously retarded.

  • POSEUR!

  • Yeah, Mr. Scorn is indeed a poser.

  • You have no idea.

  • mind = blown

  • He has such a bad ass speaking voice

  • I pronounce it Tulu, like in the story 'The Mound.' I remember someone (someone smart) saying that the 'cth' sound used to be pronounced with a 't' sound, and the pronouncement changed over time. Lovecraft used lots of archaic spelling, and used unnecessary letters to give an exotic feel to his words.

  • A quote from one of Lovecraft's own letters:

"The actual sound - as nearly as human organs could imitate it or human letters record it - may be taken as something like Khlul'-hloo, with the first syllable pronounced gutturally and very thickly."

  • That doesn't help at all. Can we just call him Kool-Aid Man to make it easier?

  • kool video

  • This is one of the fastest damn Death Metal songs out there...fucking love it!

  • Except it's black metal, not death metal.

  • That's fascinating! Based on what criteria, exactly? Other than a hipster's knee-jerk "people like this so I won't to be edgy and unique" mentality?

What do you consider to be good, "real" bands? Examples, of a few and why, please.

  • Stop trying to troll retard.

  • awesome pics!

  • i think im going to buy this song just because its about Kutulu!

  • There are many ways to "properly" spell the name.

Just like in Norse Paganism... I've seen Baldr primarily, but Balder and Baldur are also popular.

  • Yep, "Cthulhu" can be spelled Thu Thu, Kluu Kluu, Kutulu... alot of ways.

    Just remember the 'u' s.

  • C-T-H-U-L-H-U...but since there are a thousand variant spaellings, its kind of a moot point.

  • It´s true, but "The Highpriest" have many names but nearly prunonced in the same way!: "Kuh-Toolh-Ohh".

  • Be sure to check out Cthulu Dawn by Cradle of Filth too =)

  • yes he is seperated from are universe but has the capibility to come back. he just knows its not his time.

  • Yeah, I know quite a few girls who like this stuff, too. :)

  • In all the aeons of time there was never once a female who liked this band.

  • Yeah, I am not allowed to play Bal-Sagoth in the presence of my sister anymore. Females suck at listening to good music.

  • True that. P-P-P-POKER FACE PUH PUH POKER FAAACE

  • sweet goodness that is a kickass tune!!!!!!!!

  • Interesting. The epic tone that these guys take certainly embodies the scope of Lovecraft's work..but I think the main problem is that it seems like it should be more...solemn. Or make some of the instrumentals kind of slimy sounding. Listen to The Serpent's Kiss by Symphony X and you'll understand what I'm getting at. Great stuff, seems almost like a direct soundtrack to a Lovecraft compilation!

  • A bit too fast paced maybe.....

  • I always had this question in my head, can you kill a old one????? reply if you can answer

  • Only if you're the mighty CTHULHUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Well, they are listed in the Call of Cthulhu (d20) Monster Manual, so theoretically: yes. If you have a band of epic-level characters, that is.

  • Ia Ia Cthulhu F'taghn!!!

  • me and ethel love to cha-cha to this! we've been life partners since 1942!

  • Mighty stuff

  • Six Score And Ten Oblations To A Malefic Avatar is my favorite from this album

  • Bal-Sagoth good which does in the keyboard timbre, compares Rhapsody not to be inferior.

  • Such a magical song! LOVE IT!

  • I was shackled to the Trilithon of Kutulu once.....

  • Was it fun?

  • i was pretty much typing that into the comment box... then i saw your comment :p

  • What is a Trilithon anyways?

  • it's like an ancient stone structure consisting of two vertical stones and one horizontal stone, similar to what you see at Stonehenge.

  • Out of foam from the sea this band came and ruled! O thee sea creatures rise and take thee souls of mortal man!

  • Shego shego ul draphix' sta bal sagoth bal morgh !!!

  • Ia Ia Cthulhu Fhtagn!!!

  • Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn
