EC took the blues to a wider public and to this day that is to his credit. Some people might even look for the original records by artists such as Elmore James, Howling Wolf, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy , Robert Johnson, JL Hooker ,The 3 kings etc. That is a good thing in a world dominated by auto tuned plastic pop/rap plastic teenage dummies.
This LP in '94 was the last record he did that impressed me. He should stick to this stuff really.
You won't convince me there is a better living guitarist, especially when Eric is playing the blues. The videos you have up here are some of the most intense guitar playing you will ever hear. I have seen him 20 times, and there's none better.
Wow! Nice fat slide sound out of an old ES-350T, like you see Chuck Berry holding in black and white pics from the fifties. Clapton always knows what to play, as well as how to play. I think he and SRV are the only white cats you can call bluesmen, and get no argument.
I think I'd at least make room on that list for Johnny Winter, Bob Margolin, Mike Bloomfield, and a couple of palefaces from the U.K.: Peter Green and Rory Gallagher. I doubt that anyone would question their credentials or sincerity,,,
GREAT vid, just a couple comments to the person who posted:
i steered away from this vid for a while because of the thumbnail image, it gave the impression (to me at least) that the whole video stayed at that camera position, never zooming in, kinda looking like a crappy bootleg video, which it isnt.
secondly, change the title to have Blues Before Sunriseas well, this is the only decent live video of it (imo) on youtube and it's not even in the title!
