I volunteer for an organization that helps greyhounds, and I've lived with greyhounds since I was five years old. Having as much experience with the dogs as I do and talking to hundreds of greyhound owners, I know they're living environment consists of only a small crate, they're fed diseased meat, given steroids and sometimes drugs to maintain their speed and energy, and once the tracks feel like they no longer have use for them, they give them to a rescue or euthanize them.Shame on Skechers.

Actually, PETA, Humane Society of the United States, and Grey2K are all organizations that haven't let their ignorance towards greyhounds (or animals in general) get in the way of their arrogance. Go visit a track, or talk to someone who actually has greyhounds before you assume they're starved, beaten and forced to run with cattle prods. We've got four, and have fostered at least 15 more. The vast majority of owners, trainers, transporters and breeders love their dogs, and treat them well.

Working Greyhounds don't live great lives at all. Up until recently, retired Greyhounds were routinely shot when they were finished racing, and their tattooed ears were cut off so they couldn't be traced backed to breeders/race owners. The majority of the dogs we see now are rescued Greyhounds, saved from that fate. Do a little reading up on it. Breeders and race owners love them because they are their bread & butter - they don't care about them otherwise.
This commercial is one of the cutest ever. Rates right up there with Spuds McKenzie & the Clydesdales. Never owned Skechers, but I have a pair now thanks to this. BTW, I raise and train racing greyhounds for a living and make a LOT of money doing it. Run, Mr. Quiggly, run!!!

We have had 3 retired racer greyhounds,and fostered others.The first one arrived to us from a track in Arizona 20 lbs. underweight. And terrified of men, esp. if they lifted their arms over their heads. Our 3rd,who is asleep on the sofa,arrived limping with a rear paw injury,we adopted her one week after she was pulled from her last race in Conn.(they have tattoos in their ears, you can look up their record).She has severe arthritis in the paw now.They crated most of the time.Skechers blew it.

Running this ad does NOT help those poor greyhounds who live in small crates all day and risk serious injury with no hope of vet care. Skechers has no idea how many people they have turned off by choosing to glamorize this dying "sport." That racetrack which is at Tucson Greyhound Park, is notorious for animal cruelty. The dogs live in cages that are barely big enough for them to stand up and turn around in. And they’re fed 4-D meat, which is the meat of downed and diseased animals. It’s not fit for consumption. Please stand up and boycott SKECHERS until the remove this Ad and agree not to run it on the Super Bowl

Skechers - I suppose stealing the "Toms" shoe idea wasnt enough ("Bobs"). Certainly using animals is an old trick of the marketing trade. Could ya be a bit more creative & clever? Actually, PETA, Humane Society of the United States, and Grey2K are all organizations that haven't let their ignorance towards greyhounds (or animals in general) get in the way of their arrogance. Go visit a track, or talk to someone who actually has greyhounds before you assume they're starved, beaten and forced to run with cattle prods. We've got four, and have fostered at least 15 more. The vast majority of owners, trainers, transporters and breeders love their dogs, and treat them well.

Working Greyhounds don't live great lives at all. Up until recently, retired Greyhounds were routinely shot when they were finished racing, and their tattooed ears were cut off so they couldn't be traced backed to breeders/race owners. The majority of the dogs we see now are rescued Greyhounds, saved from that fate. Do a little reading up on it. Breeders and race owners love them because they are their bread & butter - they don't care about them otherwise.

This commercial is one of the cutest ever. Rates right up there with Spuds McKenzie & the Clydesdales. Never owned Skechers, but I have a pair now thanks to this. BTW, I raise and train racing greyhounds for a living and make a LOT of money doing it. Run, Mr. Quiggly, run!!!

We have had 3 retired racer greyhounds,and fostered others.The first one arrived to us from a track in Arizona 20 lbs. underweight. And terrified of men, esp. if they lifted their arms over their heads. Our 3rd,who is asleep on the sofa,arrived limping with a rear paw injury,we adopted her one week after she was pulled from her last race in Conn.(they have tattoos in their ears, you can look up their record).She has severe arthritis in the paw now.They crated most of the time.Skechers blew it.

Skechers needs to rethink this... The reality is that greyhounds in Tucson, AZ are neglected and abused. Running this ad does NOT help those poor greyhounds who live in small crates all day and risk serious injury with no hope of vet care. If they choose to run this ad, my entire family and I will boycott them for life. I know many other people who feel the same way.

Skechers has no idea how many people they have turned off by choosing to glamorize this dying "sport." Thousands of greyhounds suffer major injuries each year— many are even euthanized for fractures that the owners and trainers just don't want to pay good money to treat. These are not crazy "animal libbers" or um, "bigoted fascists" who are boycotting Skechers, but people who love dogs and are tired of seeing these greyhounds crash and burn for a bit of senseless entertainment.
