@Divinity33372 If you keep the tools in the shed too long they will rust, become unusable and forgotten. Imagine a world with nobody getting their shit fixed, their garden planted, or their lawn mowed.
So in Sweden, prostitutes are forced, to say they were forced. Meanwhile the male traffickers, many of whom may actually have been real slaves as conscripts in armies, get prosecuted some more.
'No woman would ever choose prostitution, but many men will enslave and rape' - seems to be the trade-off the Swedes et al are trying to settle on for us all.
Put prostitutes in the highest tax bracket, and give them diplomas and grades to work towards like any other profession.
@tom181071 - 'No woman would ever choose prostitution, but many men will enslave and rape' - wow, you nailed it... and how offensive is that stuff? totally offensive. ugh. gross.
The Swedish Model is beyond stupid. I would rather it be legal or illegal for both parties. The forcing whores to church thing is just . . . wow. When I was little, I was a complete girly girl, so the tomboys would want to kick my ass, and as I got older, it got more and more into slut shaming.
@nikkiwindham "When I was little, I was a complete girly girl, so the tomboys would want to kick my ass, and as I got older, it got more and more into slut shaming." - It is misogyny. Even if someone has a problem with the "painted bird" type of chick, it is still inherent misogyny. It is girl-girl hate. It is not a form of protest against gender roles or bias, but rather, the complete conformity of it. Yet another reason I find antis are dangerous to human rights - especially, women's.
@dreamedblue I would later learn that the tomboys had it rough in other ways and been friends with them and understood that they had issues in this culture with not being feminine enough. In high school, I would wear miniskirts and high-heeled boots and look artsy/emo, and girls would confront me about their boyfriends looking at my ass when their boyfriends were these dumb asses I didn't want! It was all just like you said!
@nikkiwindham@dreamedblue - I was mostly girly girl - but for me the big revealing thing was when I dropped like 50 pounds (thanks to grief/stress) and all of a sudden I was one of "those types of women" and women who used to smile and wave at me were snarling and judging me by my appearance... we're all just a thyroid condition away from understanding how much women judge women by appearance...
@FeministWhore Sometimes it does just get ridiculous! This is why I'm a sex-positive feminist: I want to wear what I want and not be slut shamed by either men or women! Sometimes women will say something that you're supposed to take as a compliment, but they have this backhanded insult in there, e.g. "You must be really popular with the boys in your school.", "All your male teachers must give you good grades." and "I"m not going to let my husband see you! Hahaha!" Ugh!
@nikkiwindham Its funny how in a certain worldview a man judging you, controlling how you think, dress, or live is "wrong", but somehow it is A-Ok for a certain school of feminism to make those same choices for you...because, of course, they are doing it for your own good... ;-)
@dreamedblue@nikkiwindham "It is girl-girl hate", Hmm... is slut shaming a constituent part of what we call cattiness? Does cattiness equal in some way misogyny? When Nikki was in her miniskirt's and boots how do you tell the difference between a collection of individual defensive reaction vs a socialized group reaction?
Totally agree. All these new ridiculous laws do is yet again pass the onus on to another person. Nobody wants this hot potato.
If only people would remove the sex stigma that is attached to this issue maybe - just MAYBE they'd get down to protecting and empowering the people involved.
PS thanks for the oogling on my vid. Wanna cuddle?!?
Honestly, I'm thinking the Nevada model's idea for criminalizing making profit off of prostituted women is the way to go, here -- I think that's the key. Don't criminalize the customers. You can't end the demand. Ever. But you CAN end the exploitation (ie. people taking a large portion of the womens' earnings). Make the prostitutes independent contractors that work at a house that charges them a flat, mutually decided upon fee for the room they utilize and leave it at that. Am I crazy? o.O
Paranoia is GOOD!? I'm gonna start channeling Stalin ASAP. Some will be pleased.
Yeah, I'm gonna turn into a cheater. Suuuuure! Riiiiight! I hate being reduced to my genitalia. Talk about an extrapolation of objectification. Pullease!
I swear! Your videos make me militant. That is NOT a complaint. ツ
All true. All great points. The resentment is totally understandable too. But logistically, hate begets hate, and responding to hate with hate perpetuates hate...even if they don't merit sympathy. We are all in this together. <3 2 U
@Cashify I hear ya. I just don't equate militancy with hate. But can or do I equate sarcasm with hate? I need think about that. Because my comment was 88% snark. Your sentiments are not lost on me. I just happen to lub me zum FemistWhore.
@Cashify - Yeah I got a little resentment happening :-), ... and I'm tempted to say "i'm usually not like that" but I think it's more that usually I control myself better...
@alowlyapprentice - I subscribe to that "it's not paranioa if they're really out to get you" belief =) ... lol paranoia + cowardice has saved many lives!
