I rode this in Disneyland back in October for the first time. I'm not a fan of "Wind in the Willows" (the book), so I freely admit that the ride didn't get any real, unsarcastic reaction from me... until I found myself getting run over by a train and in hell. Fair play to the Imagineers for keeping riders on their toes.
@scottpilgremvsdepie It's cause it's heated. I also heard that people would spit on the painted metal Satan and the Cast Members would have to clean him off after closing.
Wen I was little my mom made me drive and I thought I was driving for real and was terrified and thought I drove horribly. In the hell room the heat in there...I thought I'd driven us to our deaths LOL. definitely a wild ride
I remember this ride! Use to scare the hell out of me when i was younger. So sad they took it out. Was a great ride. Wish i could ride it now, would have actually understood what was going on lol.
I remember this ride! Use to scare the hell out of me when i was younger. So sad they took it out. Was a great ride. Wish i could ride it now, would have actually understood what was going on lol.
WHAT"S all the fuss about the ride in being "scary" i went with my 7 year old sis (i was 11 then)..and we both loved it that we both helped ourselves to a second ride.....well i gotaa admit my face was turning red and worried in the train and fireworks part..but still..we loved it :] ppl's opinion's i guess ^-^
I went on this ride with my mom when I was 5. I remember being terrified and my mom frantically trying to comfort me. Talk about not being true to Wind in the Willows.
@darrencrisslovesme; scary as in 'wow, didn't expect a kid's ride to be this scary.' & never said i didn't like it. it's pretty awesome, especially the hell part.
@darrencrisslovesme cause i didn't think you or anyone else would care. obviously you do, so i'll just tell you everything from now on in complete detail so i don't look like a "fuckin retard."
does someone want to explain to me the hell part?? because i really dont understand why thats on a ride in dsneyland i dont like that they put that in there so if someone could explain it would be appreciated :)
I rodae this last Tuesday with my 20 year old cousin. We were both terrified of all the things that popped up so we closed out eyes the whole time. x]
@ultraelectera ohh ok i see now lolz n was that what disney land was called back then or was there a speret park aside from disneyland or ??? im confused lol
I think that the best part is that Disney puts people in Hell. They just do it. There is no exception. You are a crazy maniac, you go to Hell. Bye Bye Disney fairytale crap.
I love this ride my friend and i went on it and then 2 more of our friends went together and the last 2 went solo the 2 solo riders were screaming none stop it was funny, then the other 2 that went together were laughing then me and my friend were laughing at the screams it was funny we then herd other people screaming it was classic humor :D
That hades scene is not even in the movie itself. What the ride implies is having to pay for your reckless selfish behavior like the impulsive Mr. Toad.
LOVED this ride as a kid cuz it let me drive my own car. I haven't ridden it since then...but yesterday I took my girlfriend who has never ridden it to ride it....holy crap that ride is scary as hell!
I loved the movie when I was little... but when I went on this ride when I was seven, I was traumatized. That was the first and LAST time I went on this. I'm a little curious to try again now that it's been almost 16 years, but damn. I'm still scared.
Uhhhhhhh there is no hell part in the movie bit of Mr. Toad! What was Disney thinking? Maybe they put it in there for all the people who show up high to Disneyland as a reminder of what is to come for them. Hahaha
@cmbement Well, the thing about this ride is that none of this stuff happened in the movie. In the movie, we never saw what Mr. Toad did with his motorcar, we just know that he was a bit crazy with it. The ride is showing that missing scene in the movie where he drives around wreaking havoc with the car.
I remember riding this ride as a little kid (I was born 1990 and I went in 1995...so the ride was still up in Florida) and honestly this ride scared the CRAP out of me. lol I never enjoyed it but now that I'm older I'm like "Damn...I wanna ride it again but now it's in Cali." LOL
I used to like this ride when I was a kid. I'm glad it's still at DL. A coworker of mine told me that they removed the one at WDW. I bet more than half the people watching this video don't remember what the "E-Ticket" was. ;-)
@iknownothing34 It was about a year and a half ago. He was loud but not loud enough to be dramatic. When the ride ended. He put his hand on my shoulder and said " Bless your soul child " and we got off the cart. Then outside of the ride. He says " Please Lord. Protect me from the devil's image " or something like that. It was pretty odd.
My father said they got rid of the one in flordia due to it being so scary apparently he told me when he rode it that It had mr toad going to hell for his crimes or soemthing.
Since age 4 (and Im 50 now) this has always been my favorite ride. All of the "simple" rides are great and the lines are small. Toady, Pan, Dumbo, etc. all bring back great memories
@charlitunaman2002 I remember Petter Pan was my favorite as a child. Now I'm more into... say... Tower of Terror and such but I still love the oldies :)
@MiCross94 Peter Pan is a really great ride! I've been goin to D land for 50 years. Back then the only "terror" they had was the Matterhorn. At 50 years old, I still squeeze my fat butt, with my wife and son into Mr. Toad's and Peter Pan's cars.....oh, and don't forget Dumbo!
does that small statue of mr toad still have that wad of gum dripping from his mouth? i always laughed my ass off because it looked like something... LOL
does mr toad still have the gum dripping all out of his mouth? i laugh every time i go and see that :P if you know what i mean... looks like something else ahahha
i wish they would but there's no way they will. the many adventures of winie the pooh took its place and its wicked popular. i am however STOKED to go ride mr. toad at disneyland!
Oh man... Drunk driving & hell at Disneyland... why haven't they pulled this yet?! Hahaha, dont get me wrong, it's hilarious, I love it. I'm just surprised.
OH and the last time I went on this, the lights went on during the hell part, I overheard the car in front of say "Oh, so this is what hell looks like with the lights on" Hahaha, thought it was pretty funny.
I think the reason they haven't "pulled it", is because this is one of the Disney landmarks. Everyone who looks back on Disneyland can remember something about Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It's one of things like It's A Small World. Everyone can't stand how the song is stuck in your head for 3 hours afterward, but it's a landmark. I love it! I think they should do more of it! 20 000 Leagues ride revival for the win!!
@calisvideos My cousin who is 4 went on this ride. When you first step in youwould think it would be a fun silly ride which it is, but drink driving in disneyland? she could not stop crying for about an hour after that because of the devil at the end. They should at least have a warning sign :)
The strange thing about this ride was they cut it. The end wasn't going to hell. They did have a happy ending but they changed the ride in the early 90's. I always thought it was odd they cut the ride short. Its like your going to hell the end when the really ending was him getting his house back.
i is the scariest ride i have eve been on and i loved it even when i was 6. i was a horror enthusiast always sad is parents got hima SNES instead of a PS1...
This is a very underrated ride imo. First, I really like the exterior of the ride. The frog crest over the archway is cute and the building is actually one of the nicer ones in Fantasyland. As for the ride itself, the explosion room with the strobes is extremely cool, and the fact that you go to hell adds a nice subversive element. Plus it's one of the few original rides left. I hope Disneyland never gets rid of it like Magic Kingdom did.
Yeah I remember it being epic as a kid, but sadly they pulled it as I went there over break and it's gone. Also Alien Escape is now Stitches Escape... Hall of Presidents and Hall of Progress have new themes. Pirates of the Caribbean now has Johnny Depp all over it. In fact the only ride now that hasn't either been pulled or changed radically is the Haunted Mansion. Thanks Disney for destroying what was left of my childhood.
what was disney look like with heads popping out at 2 miles per hour old rides that dont even make sense to the current movies children are watching, or even a new president that everyone knows about come one now like really. well sorry for being modern.

This is one of my FAVORITE rides!
I mean, come on, you go to hell at Disneyland. That's pretty epic xD

The strange thing about this ride was they cut it. The end wasn't going to hell. They did have a happy ending but they changed the ride in the early 90's. I always thought it was odd they cut the ride short. Its like your going to hell the end when the really ending was him getting his house back.

Dude, I rode this ride in Disneyland CA when I was around five and I hated it! I got soooo scared!!!! And I found it VERY VERY weird. lol =]
I don't remember much about this ride except for the "Boom!" (flashing explosions things found at 1:43) part. Thanks for uploading this video though.

No, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is still at Disneyland. You may be thinking of the ride at Disney World, which closed in 1998.

They should release this on Blu-ray along with Fun and Fancy Free and Melody Time.

The best nonmatterhorn ride in fantasyland.
