A lot of the current generation (and a few generations before!) owe their lives to the likes of Jackie Stewart, Fittipaldi and Lauda. A tragedy for Sir Jackie he couldnt save his good friend Francois.
Kinda sounds like the 1984 Us GP in Dallas, TX. Track was falling apart so bad they almost canceled the race (the heat was just breaking the temp track up)
