  • looks like a constant stream of flights coming onto scope. Must make trying to remember your holds a nightmare.

  • Holy shit and that's just one ATC controlling all those targets? Damn. Hats off.

  • Tracon.....You say "No, pilots just dont control themselves into or out of an airport"...I counter with...NO, AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS DONT FLY THE AIRPLANE FOR US......even though some of them act like they do. No disrespect intended since you guys do a great job....but I had to counter your point because People shouldn't think Air Traffic Controllers "Fly" the airplane for us. Cheers.

  • Good point, but to be sure, without ATC pilots would have real problems. It would be like removing lanes and speed limits and letting the drivers figure it out from there.

  • That is the best music selection I have ever seen on YouTube. From a Nashville music industry professional and low-time pilot.

  • @littlelion1972

+1 I laughed when I heard it lol.

  • @ rob--it also takes years for atc-er's to get that six fig

  • Great job!!!

    Greetings from Mexico.

ATC Eduardo Lee, at MEX ACC

  • Yay 1:06

  • stress is what drives us to this. if you've ever been on position talking to 25 aircraft on one freq, in small congested airspace you would truely understand why we push for better benifits. most controllers love their jobs, and want these benifits to help make the job enviornment less stressful and therefor much safer. safety is key here. so the title on this video in the begininig is approproate.

  • to RobertPrentice...yes ATC has many benifits...you are right. lets make a slight comparrison. humor me if you will. how much money and benefits does a surgeon make? well i know they are the top paid in the country. a surgeon saves how many lives daily? how many lives does ATC save daily? yeah we dont require a rediculous amount of school. but essentially we are both in the buisness of saving lives. we want to be treated the same. btw most controllers only make it a few years past retirement.

  • The opening of this video says (air traffic controllers) "deserve better treatment." I'm not sure exactly what the author means. Air traffic controllers are exceptionally well treated federal employees: 1. Six figure salary 2. Only work ~4 hours per shift and can sleep, play games, etc. the rest of the time 3. Strong federal union benefits 4. Mandatory retirement age of 56. All these perks for a job that does not require a college degree! I'm surprised more burger-flippers don't apply!

  • More burger flippers don't apply because it is not as simple a task as you think. Controlling is all mental power, with a little talking. So saying "XXXyyy winds XXX @ XX RWY XX cleared to land" is pretty simple, but the thought process that goes behind spacing and timing is immense! Burger flippers need not apply!!!!

  • Message for RobertPrentice:

Understand that the 4 pts you are making refference is about U.S. ATC´s, you may know the reallity about other countries like Mexico where there´s nothing like you wrote at your message and no matter what are the conditions we always do our best, also i agree with the point of view of dizdevil05

  • cool... usa air territory

  • lmfao best song choice for this video OMG

  • are you phuckin kiddin me....WTF

  • What's the name of the background music?

  • gotta keep them sperated?

  • the song is "come out and play" by the offspring

  • give me a brake

  • We need to Get this

  • LOL, the guys at Rooster Teeth semed to like the music XD

  • Well Burnie did, anyway. haha

  • I have to agree with Mr. Burns. this song is good.

  • Song choice is amazing, 5/5

  • AND NO HIT'S THAT'S UNBELIEVEBLE

  • :you gotta keep em separated" hahahahahaaaa.a.a

  • haha, i love how in the beggining it said you gotta keep em seperated, and you DO!!

  • haha, i love how in the beggining it said you gotta keep em seperated, and you DO!!

  • ===1000

  • i'm watching this after being for 18 hours, i thought the title read: 'Paedophile Air Traffic Control'

Seriously though after a second read, great skills, i get swrewed up on VATSIM with just 4 A/C on approuch, ground is easy.

  • Practice makes perfect. Eventually you'll figure out the pattern to use to control lots of aircraft at the same time. But of course, in the real world, it is way, way much more harder.

  • skills!

  • hah hah nice job.

  • heavy traffic?...hohum...nice music though

  • nice but I work for NATS in england ... take a look at Londons airspace and see what congested airspace means ^^ ... 5 major London airports and no space (england is rather small for it's 60 million people :D)

  • you work for nats? I've been looking into how to get into doing a course with them but their website is confusing. How did you go about getting into it?

  • i applied 2 1/2 years ago to become an ATCO ... i'm not sure what their website looks like now, but i went to their recruitment site and filled in an online application form ... good luck it's a brilliant job !!

  • How bout go 25 miles NE of PHL and you got the hardest airspace in the world for TMA/TRACON. The N90 Tracon, JFK LGA EWR are within 10 miles of eachother plus TEB in the middle and MMU and TTN and FRG all within 10 miles of the Major guys, NY Is the hardest, Plus philly 25 SW. London can't be compared to the N90 Tracon

  • As no one has worked both, you're kind of right, they can't be compared, because no body knows.Ever worked in the London TMA yourself?LL,KK,LC,GW,SS,SC,LF,KB etc,I can list airfields too,and quote passenger numbers but whats the point?I'll bet the atco at a private strip on a Saturday in summer is having just as tough a time as those of us with more staff and better equipment in the larger centres.

  • Yeah, definitely a tough job, to keep them separated. The song should be the ATC anthem.

  • Must have been bad weather, I saw at least three airplanes go missed approach at PHL after they switched to 9R.

  • nevermind, there are just soo many arrivals and departures that they just blend at the airport

  • u gotta keep 'em separated

  • ruined with music FFS

  • I thought the music was fitting, "Keep em' seperated" LOL

  • the air traffic controllers deserve much beter treatment than havin bad computers there the ones that make the diffrence

  • This video is sick.... My ATSAT study inspiration! OKC... Watch out!!

  • Good Luck!

  • Looks like an old Atari game or something.

I fly through Philly a few times a week, keep up the good work!

  • anyway you look at it..its a clusterfuck

  • OMG that airspace is crowded.

  • Boy. FAA and its OLD technology, old system. They should follow the tracks of Eurocontrol.

  • old system... STARS only came out in 2003. This video doesn't do the system justice to see the whole thing. This doesn't show any detail.

  • Radar service from the Tracon is only givin in the Air, what the hell are you ganna do when they land? show them how to get to there car and then to taco bell? your a freakin Noob

  • damm i am a pilot and i never get scared about fly but since i saw this video change my mind!!! nice video :P

  • I get a little nervy when the little green dots just drop from the screen lol

  • well the blips dont move that fast, but its a great vid, and no kaka either!!!

  • Man I can't wait! Starting my schooling for En-Route in September! Waited a freaking year on the list!

  • CCBC?

  • Yulp!

  • what song is that ?

  • Song is "Keep Em' Seperated" by Offspring

  • thanks a lot Tracon, by the way cool nick! i love atc too

  • Tracon the band is Offspring but the title of the song is "Come Out And Play".

    Yer ATC buddy!!!

  • good job guys... keep us afloat

  • You guys are METAL MOVIN MUTHAS~~~~!!!!!!!!!

  • was this an atc vid or a promo for the offspring????

vid sucked, i like atc, not has-been wannabe rockers

  • ATC related, the lyrics went with the message so I used it. Im not a big fan of the offspring either.

  • Is this at the tower or TRACON?

  • TRACON

  • hay whens the time you tell the center you need 15 miles in trail

  • When saturation starts to kick in and the concrete cant take anymore. Usually when the boat gets turned as well.

  • and is this before or after bunts goes into the hold?

  • This is while BUNTS is holding

  • Should point out there's a severe shortage of ATCs now due to Bush administration's cuts to their pay/benefits. Many are working manditory overtime in already stressful conditions.

The Lexington, KY accident last summer illustrates this.

  • graet video

  • nice video ... although I must say that operations in the UK are more complex as there is much less airspace to work in than in the US ... feedback welcome ... a NATS controller myself (Approach)

  • I can probably agree with that statement in comparison to the Mid West or West. But in the northeast it can get hairy with usable strata especially in the Summer with tons of Mesoscale complexes sweeping across. That video may look like there is a little space (I should have turned the video map up a little) but that's about 4 different facilites worth in traffic.

  • I saw a couple gaps on final...you guys are wasting airspace!! Looks IFR to me, or is that all Class Bravo airspace? Where are the dinks??? Come on over to SCT and we'll show you that PLUS a couple dozen VFR flibs buzzing around making life miserable!!

Nice job...definitely not a stupervisor working that push!!

  • Hey! Us VFR guys have a heard enough time! You IFRs take life for granted.

  • Nice vid thanks

  • Nice job on the sequencing,

  • On behalf of all the people on those planes, thanks for keeping 'em separated. :-)

  • Kind of reminds me of the movie Babe.
