and suddently sucked me in ,my little brother and my cousant they were 12 years old me 18....
so i was innocent for a time and the water was rotating us and my cousant hit me thats how i woke up
i "swam" up took some air and incredible i was trowing my cousant betwen 1-2m i get out and see my little brother flowing above water i jumped and to took him
i dont know the full situation so i wont put a harsh comment .Im sure he knows about defencive swimming..Still he can be unlucky enough to get caught up like this..paddlers will know what im saying..Helmets helmets
it is so fun to see comments from smug assholes who are obviously better than everyone else at everything......... mabey when I see a video of you drowning I can point out your mistakes and say something pretentious like , silly "chap" he is drowning, that wouldent happen if it was me
Stupid K1 paddler.... I don't even see them wearing helmets. I don't get that at all.... This never surprises me, too many chaps out there with zero river knowledge. Take care, and paddle safe!!!
Not everyone is told this but never, no matter what the circumstance, put your feet on the bottom and walk the river! Always swim! Unless of course you a prof river walker or your doing river walking just swim d not put your feet down this is an all to common problem! NOT EVERYONE KNOWS OR IS TOLD THIS I DO UNDERSTAND THAT! BUT BARE IT IN MIND NOW! I couldn't bare to see such a sight myself, thats why there is so much emphisis
I was white water rafting and I got launched out with a big rapid and got sucked under the raft and was sucked under for 30 seconds and got huge cuts and bruises from hitting rocks, only reason I escaped was by crawling off the bottom.
Well there are certain exceptions for certain types of currents but where ever you ca help it don't walk on the floor. Obviously in your case you had to and its the same with other hydro cases but these techniques are also taught to the people that will be needing them.

Seems to me the paddler got stuck at the bottom of a rock and couldn't get out?
Guy obviously took a swim and apparently got his foot entrapped in some rocks. Probably thought he was close enough to shore to stand up. Thats a no no in moving water over your knees.
looks terrible to die by drowning... my uncle died 8 months ago doing this sport :(

@zonzeven Yes they did. they got in contact with the dam that was releasing the water for the race and they got it turned off
