a child should never fall into the water unsupervised...never go near harmful water with a baby..it's not common sense it's responsiblity..& respecting thier lives..I would so NOT do this with my daughter..but hey that's just me
Teaching infants how to back float is a great thing ONLY when taught by a professional who is well trained by well researched program. Please research your instructor and any program thoroughly BEFORE enrolling your child in any swim program.
I think this is disgusting, It makes me sick as a mommy to see that a parent would do this to their helpless baby!! Wait until the child is old enough to walk and talk before bringing them into a pool and letting go!!
why is it 'disgusting'? the whole point is to give a child the chance of survival in the water should they fall in unexpectedly - I teach baby swimming in the same way and we achieve fab results every week - watch a class taking place and become a convert!!
why risk? what's the risk? A responsible parent is right there. if a babe takes a bit of water and coughs pick it up wait for the cough to pass and try again...not much risk..and the benefits! think of those!
This is the same method that I have been teaching for 4 years and it is less dangerous than putting your baby in a bath tub because the soap in bath tubs leaves residue in your ear that can cause ear infections where as chlorine dries out your ear.
It does not cause ear damage. I teach this method at the swim school I work at if you do it correctly than they can save themselves. Why not have a professional try it who knows what they're doing?
