  • the 1968-1974 Ford Escort was assembled in

    Halewood England

    Saarlouis, Germany

    Nazareth, Israel

    Homebush, Australia

    New Zealand

    Taiwan

    Genk, Belgium

  • mk1&2 escorts have always been extremely tail happy

  • If he didn't get the rear wheel in the dirt, he probably would have made it.

  • It wasnt the original car that was crashed - it was a replica that was built for Ford. The original car was registered FEV 1H whilst the replica, & the one that was crahsed, was registered H1 FEV.

  • @fatboy69s Spot on mate. The original was driven by Hannu Mikkola and Gunnar palm. 25 years later they built this car for the anniversary rally and it was again driven by Hannu Mikkola. And he won it again :)

  • What's with all this childish cheering in recent times, when people crash?

  • @CodeTwo2 I hate people who do that

  • GUTTED. :(

  • Good effort for pushing it too the limit (and a bit further). It's what it's built to do.

  • oops :D thumbs up for the vid!

  • a bit too wide maybe. ain't taking anyones side here but that corner has caught many drivers.

  • @880316RR Very true. I expect there will be more here on sunday, not long now wooo

  • dad schöne auto

  • It's always easy to comment on someone else from the internet. Other people are actually out there doing it.

  • who are you talking to?

  • unlucky

  • Unfortunately, it's not really a replica.. It's a "true-fake" works car.

Reg plate is the inverse of that of 1970 Escort.

It is a Mk1 rebuilt by Ford in 1994 to take part in the historic London-Mexico rally.

It has characteristics comparable to FEV 1H who won the rally in 1970.

But let us not be worried, the car will be restored soon !

  • Whey Owen! stick to the focus rs

  • @TheHartattack09 Apparently he could'nt drive that either !!

  • Who was driving it? I say driving...

  • Owen Norris, he's an Art Editor for Top Gear Magazine!!! lol

  • I know the guys at Ford Heritage, and I've seen the car in the metal, both pre and post crash. It's a craying shame, but when a journo who is used to traction control, ABS and power steering tries to drive a proper car, this happens. He shouldn't have been pushing it so hard, he might not have ran out talent that way.

The guys at Ford are hoping to rebuild it though, thankfully.

  • yes it is a replica but it has still one loads of rallys before it went to the historic centre...the reg is H1 FEV the origional one was FEV 1H

  • That's right, you are very informed sir.

  • wen't to a rally the other week, a mk1 escorts tyre came off going round the course, sparks everywhere, next stage he just quickly put it on, no excuses..

  • Oops!

  • That's one of Ford's Historic cars! It's a museum piece... Nice to see it get some use. It's a shame that it crashed.

  • it's not the original car, it's a Replica, the original is in a museum.

  • The plate seems to be the same...

  • trust me, it is not the original. Ford built a replica for events like this.

  • I didn't know that. Thanks!

  • The original is FEV 1H, this one is H1 FEV, but it still has 20 years of history and was worth nearly a quarter of a million.
