i thought this show was kool, but all the talking took away from the music, alittle bit of talking is ok...but yall talked almost threw the whole thing, its very destracting from the music, and isnt music the reason that there is marching bands?
Trialsbyfire couldn't have said it better. From nightmares to airplanes, every year we throw out something no one could have seen coming. Our goal is to perform and entertain for eight minutes and we choose to go about this by performing a show completely different than a traditional marching band show. We may not have made state but I loved performing and practicing our show and can't wait to hear what our director has for us to perform next year.
Were wired differently. If you were taught by our director you would think differently. There is a difference. We like to be creative and out there. And yes, it does reflect the opinion of the band...seeing as we still have almost 200 kids in our band...somebody has to be different and show the audience that not every band is the same. Our band thinks in a totally different way than any other band, and that's what we love about it.
Yea it can be. Like telling somebody something thats and implying they dont know what their talking about if they disagree. It's music dude, its not some sort of track meet where judging groups is an exact science.
And they're kids at Sachse that show up before school and stay after school to make this stuff work. And for a lot of them, its a dream to be recognized as equal to those same groups you mentioned. But you fail to recognize any of that.
Thats the point @chocotastic. We are in the hardest area in the state of Texas. In any other area, we would have gone to state and placed pretty high.
even if i yall would have been torn up yall would have done something great for gisd and plus i went to state this year and no one had a original or unique show like yall did.
Trails, Does anybody get annoyed that yall dont march a more tradional show or does your opinion about solely making the show enjoyable to watch and unique reflect the general opinion of the band? I'm just asking cuz if our directors made us do that type of show half of our band would quit...
Well, like we say, we're not all about going to state. We want to entertain and as our band director always says "create something that wasn't there before". We want to be different. Plenty of bands play and march traditionally. We try to take what other bands do and flip it upside down lol. Either you like it or you don't. We don't mind which really.
But good luck at state. You guys have an amazing band and I know you'll do well.

Im from Coppell and I didnt really like the show. Your technique is good and the music sounds fine but I find the voice-overs to be distracting from the overall preformance. You guys have a fine band program but marching a show with a cheesy theme isnt going to get you anywhere. Look at our show, Duncanville's, and Berkner's, like anonymous said earlier, there all very traditional and very musical. For a UIL competition I just don't think this is the way to go.
I got to Rowlett. But I have to say, this is very entertaining! The TAKS theme is something you wouldn't expect, but I like it. Also very clean, and well preformed. Congrats @ Area, and how you did.
Well it started out as a joke. But it ended up being our show. Long story, but I think it was a good idea. It was really creative and I loved performing it.
Someone needs to post this long story of why Goodwin picked this show. I miss story time with Goodwin when it came to telling us why he picked the show he picked.
how come you didnt put sasche on the area finals we added soo much stuff to the show u should by the dvd and put our show on youtube that would be awsome
we try to be different, that's the whole point of the show. who wants a gross marching old-time marching band? and we tied for fourth, and would have gone to state if that ONE judge wouldn't have screwed us over on music.. >:P
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
they cant make state with anything like this notice how on sturday berkner, coppel, and duncanville had all normal marching and playing shows.and made state.
Notice how they're all huge and have always been top 10 state performers. And how we came in tied for fourth in the Area. We go out there trying to perform and entertain, knowing that some people may hate our show. We're okay wity that. We just want to do the best that we can do and leave everything that we have out on the field. And we definitely did it last night. And if the judges didn't see it our way, great. But you can't say that these kind of shows can't make state.
Whether we go to state or not, I think most of us have had a good time performing this show. And it is really different, which is why we like it. We like to stand out, and if people hate us and our show, we really don't care lol. Everybody has their own opinions.
Yeah that's blue shades. That was really fun to play.
And anybody that goes to sachse will tell you: "It's never about the rating; it's about putting on an entertaining show." All of our shows are love-it-or-hate-it ordeals. From "Pirates" to the freaking TAKS test, you either love it or you don't. I will agree, at times the voice-overs take away from the music, but nonetheless, the band plays pretty dang well. We're not that famous, yet we're almost always in the conversation. That's cool.
Being a Sachse alumnus, I can say that all of the musical references to the last four to five shows are just too funny.
It really brings back a lot of memories from high school band. It was a great show and I hope that it can make state competition. If it does, I will be sure to go see it.
it sounded like someone was being rude and talking through the whole show...
the marching was clean, but still the speaking was distracting from the music...im not saying that talking during the show is bad, but its just distracting cuz half the time it's mixed in with the music and it totally takes away from the music...at times
Wow. This has got to be the most amazing show I have ever seen. And I am certainly not biased in any way. Hah. We choose to be different because we like to entertain. I will say to you Rowlett people that I love your show this year, even though you did steal an entire movement from our show three years ago :) But that's alright. Again, I love your show. We just like to be different and have fun with what we do. If that gets us to state, great. If not, oh well.
wow that's a pretty good and clean high school drum line. and about ihaveprettyeyes comment your fuckin stupid. the color guard doesn't have to be on the field the whole time. look at pit there not technically on the field....dumbass
Wow. Talk about rude AND with horrible grammar. Yeah the colorguard can be off of the field, so can the band, but there is absolutely no reason to call someone a dumbass or stupid. Pit is off of the field for a reason: they would just get in the way, nor can they move easily. Please take your immature comments away from here.
??????? don't know what your problem is by cracking down on me. ihaveprettyeyes makes a stupid and rude comment about Sachse not making state and I'm here to correct them, i don't need you explaining stuff i already know to me -.-...
Why? Because so far you are the only one cussing someone out for asking questions. ihaveprettyeyes did in no way make a rude comment, she was just unsure of the rules and was inquiring hence the questions. Oh and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. She doesn't think Sachse will go to state, so what? Why don't you prove ihaveprettyeyes wrong and GO to state!
See other marching bands are just pretty little apples and oranges. One would expect Sachse to fit into that cookie cutter shape but we prefer to be Buicks. Its hard to compare apples and Buicks and that exactly what the director wants. The shows are NOT cheesy, there just plain different. That more than you can say about Stock Marching Shows that you pull off the shelf.
Actually most of the music is from more that just the last 3 years. There are parts from every show Sachse has done, and all of the music Goodwin personally arranges himself. That is more than you can say about Rowlett! Also there is drill from previous years too, but you would never know that unless you were in Sachse's Band. Goodwin wants to be different. If Goodwin had to do a show like every other marching band out there who buys their shows(Rowlett) he wouldn't be in this business.

yeah I agree. you would think that the last couple times they tried to get to state with those chessy shows and it didn't work their director would learn. oh well, they're a good band but they need to make a name and get out of these type shows.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
not to mention, why do they get to be special and not have their guard actually on the field? shouldn't they technically be disqualified for that? i don't think they'll make it to state with that...

Think about the top 5 in Sachse's area: Duncanville, Coppell, Berkner, Rowlett, and then Sachse.
Do you REALLY think Sachse should have made it into the top three in that Area?
