im using a Pearl ELX export kit and snare. if you're looking for a similar sound from pearl in that price range, try the vision series, as the export series has been discontinued.

i can still find the export snare, but it may be easier to just get the whole vision kit

yup, and you're most likely getting better materials with the vision, as they use maple or birch, which are more popular then the ELX export's poplar.
