Original Motion Picture Soundtrack " Uncle Joe Shannon " I have the LP and the VHS tape and the paper back book. Tracks are: Sea Scape Evening Concert ( listen for the triple C at the end ) Fire Tragedy Alone Again Uncle Joe ( Theme Frome Uncle Joe Shannon ) Music recorded for " Gosses Club " scenes performed by: Piano; Mike Melvoin Drums: Steve Schaeffer Bass: Chuck Berghoffer Guitar: Dan ferguson Trumpet: Al Aarons Tenor Saxophone: Anthony Ortega
LOL Maynard has about a billion old tracks like this going around. I had a mixtape someone gave to me in high school that introduced me to Maynard (I'm a sax player) and I cannot find ANY of those old songs anymore, unfortunately, and I lost the tape.
I have this same cassette. Bought it out of the bargain bin many years ago. The movie "uncle Joe shannon" that this music came from apparantly was a flop according to what I've read about it. good music though.
Yes, it is Uncle Joe Shannon. I saw it back around 1979 or so. It starred Burt Young, and was unfortunately a complete box office disaster. But for a trumpet player, it does have it's moments, and in fact, I bought a copy of the video off EBAY about 4 years ago. There is a song with Maynard playing with a symphony that is truly unique, where he squeals up to a triple C at the end. I heard it in the theater, and stayed for a second showing so I could hear it again!
It's "just" a Double C. What you thought was Maynard putting another octave on the last note is the sound of someone in the crowd whistling during the applause. Still, it's Maynard and it's GREAT.
Sad story: What prompted my youtube search for this movie and music is that I was going through old boxes from my childhood in my basement, and I came across the record album for this movie's soundtrack! I was ecstatic! But when I took the record out, it was completely warped. :-(
Bought this when it came out on vinyl. Still have it!
