I am from country where people are forced to have insurance under a threat of fees and even confiscation of property; a country where public health service is so awkward that only poorest of the poor go there and receive horrible and corrupt parody on health care. Health care is similar to a classroom environment. Here is what I mean. Current wisdom is such that low achieving students, when introduced into a high achieving class, will rise to the level of the high achievers. From experience I have never seen that work. What happens is the achievement of the whole class goes down. That is what will happen with the overall quality of health care.

There were thousands of them with many different offers but you could easily get a year of coverage for one day's wages. If you were too poor to even afford that, there were shriner's hospitals and many other charities willing to help you out.

Also, if it were to be at government expense, the money would have to come from somewhere, so you have two options, either get it from taxes, OR just print the money. Just printing more money decreases the value of the dollar and bring us back to an awful economy which is why in Bush's term the economy collapsed because the war in Iraq cost so much and nobody in congress and nobody in the white house had an idea what the hell was the fucking problem.
You have to be pretty stupid and uneducated to not know that the United States of America is the only industrialized country in the world that does not have a Universal Health Care Option, if you call everything socialist, then i presume you are calling All of Europe, Brasil, Canada, Mexico and Australia socialist countries. Also, if you are complaining about costs, China has universal health care and has 1.3 billion people which is roughly around 4 times the size of the US' population.
So what is your point..? Are you implying that because all these other countries have this health care option the United States should also implement this plan? In case you yourself lacked a certain degree of basic education, the United States was established by those who wished to break away from the normality of their local cultures and environments.

You apparently have no clue as to what Mr. Crawford is referring to by death counselors. You're under the impression that you will be given choice of care if you're approaching death. Seniors will not have a choice should they become ill (nothing to do with close to death). You're expendable. You will be sent to a "death counselor", not given medical treatment. You're considered to be at the end stage of life, therefore too costly for treatment according to this administration's plan!
Before you disregard what Mr. Crawford is speaking about - educate yourself. The better educated you are the better chances you have of protecting your rights as you enjoy them now.

Whatever the problems with health care, it is not the government's place to be involved. It is a proven fact that most of what the government becomes involved with is grossly mismanaged and overly costly. Go to a country that has socialized medicine. I have bought Health Insurance when I was in-between jobs. I didn't have any problem finding a provider. The coverage was acceptable and cost a little than I would pay when imployed. Some times you just have to bite the bullet.

In 2007 a survey showed that Australia is number 1 in healthcare. If cost is a concern for you, healthcare costs in percentage per GDP in US is 16.1% in comparison with Australia's 8.7%. Those are the facts. If we want to be the best we should learn when to stop leading and start following.

I am from country where people are forced to have insurance under a threat of fees and even confiscation of property; a country where public health service is so awkward that only poorest of the poor go there and receive horrible and corrupt parody on health care. The same system that is going to be put in place is going to save many lives, this is what it means to be free, if I was under some insurance there would be some glitch which meant I wouldn't be able to get certain drugs or certain scans.
Part of your salary should be going towards this, like it goes towards policing and like it goes towards pensions.

I appreciate his comments, but ALL our industrial peers have the equivalent (one way or the other) of Medicare, covering ALL with low cost or no cost for care and medications.
Only in USA do 700,000 PER YEAR go bankrupt because of medical bills. The death counseling he mentions has been largely debunked. I've studied proposed health ins revisions, and that has been raised as a legitimate issue.

Current wisdom is such that low achieving students, when introduced into a high achieving class, will rise to the level of the high achievers. From experience I have never seen that work. What happens is the achievement of the whole class goes down. That is what will happen with the overall quality of health care.

@ebonics4everyone Not so. Back before the 30's, before the government got involved in healthcare, mutual aid societies were abundant. There were thousands of them with many different offers but you could easily get a year of coverage for one day's wages. If you were too poor to even afford that, there were shriner's hospitals and many other charities willing to help you out.
When the AMA got their state granted monopoly, first thing they did was do away with all that.

Of course, and I completely agree with you about the temp. changes in earth's geologic past. I took enough geology in college to understand the earths past and why it was hot and cold at different moments. I have to disagree with your 2nd point though. We can warm the earth by emitting incredible amounts of green house gasses and we could possibly cool it by putting giant reflectors in outer space. Though I think the 2nd option isn't technically feasible at the moment.

Even the scientists are afraid to publish the truth. The data is so compelling. Who wants to believe an asteroid is coming to destroy the earth? Any descent scientist would be scared to death to make such a report. A similar circumstance exists with climate scientists. Go look at the data. Inform yourself of the facts. Doctors don't want the plan because they know it costs them money which means they won't be able to purchase their $50,000 cars which they don't need. Also, if it were to be at government expense, the money would have to come from somewhere, so you have two options, either get it from taxes, OR just print the money. Just printing more money decreases the value of the dollar and bring us back to an awful economy which is why in Bush's term the economy collapsed because the war in Iraq cost so much and nobody in congress and nobody in the white house had an idea what the hell was the fucking problem.

The idea of unversal health care foreveryone is a lofty goal...AND a good one...but anyone who has read the details of the bill will know that it is NOT a good bill. It should be scrubbed of all these socialist paragraphs. The devil is in the details...and this man has got the details out on the table. The Politicians owe it to all Americans and the illegal aliens to have them removed...before I will agree with it.

How about all the children with NO COVERAGE AT ALL that are currently suffering? Yeah... I supposed they should all suffer so this guy can putz around for another five years before dying

All children to age 25 or 28 are covered under the CHIP program.

The right amazes me. It's like the entire concept of sharing is foreign to them. How about all the children with NO COVERAGE AT ALL that are currently suffering?

If you feel like sharing with everyone write a donation check to the government. No one is stopping you. Libs are notorious for spending everyone elses money. Don't you think I have younger family that I prefer to give my hard earned money to? What a moron!!

Hello!!! I took care of my children, did without when I didn't have it and now I can't afford health insurance, but I'm not stretching out MY hand for help! I pay for it as best I can so why should I have to pay for someone else's children or them for that matter???
If you can't afford to take care of them...DON'T HAVE THEM!!!!! This goes for ALL the illegals too! If you want our way of life, then go about it the right way and become a US Citizen!

I have bought Health Insurance when I was in-between jobs. I didn't have any problem finding a provider. The coverage was acceptable and cost a little than I would pay when imployed. Some times you just have to bite the bullet.
Remember what ever you ask the government for ...you will surely pay for in one way or another.
