@OweMe1Cannoli hey man!! thanks for comment i'm the guitar player in this project, it's so good that people like our work, making tribute to one of the greatest bands of all time :)
Nope - I'm not playing a fretless. I played a 2007 Tobias Killer-B 4-string bass for the audio recording, and then played my 1978 Rickenbacker 4001 which also has frets through both a guitar and bass amp for the video taping portion of my video clip.

No I am not aware. Sorry for my ignorants. I think the gentleman who is singing has a great voice. He has a very bright sound. It is just personal taste of wanting it darkier at the moment . I may want my coffee with cream tomorrow instead of black . He dos hit the lower notes very well to. His vioce reminds me of the lead singer of YES. Can`t wait to here the second cover. Thanks for the info. And I did not have hold the H key so long . That was rude.
Um....are you aware that this virtual band is doing only LIVE versions of these Kansas songs, so we purposely are not doing more layers of each performance than just one like you would hear Kansas live???
BTW - do you feel the same about our second cover SONG FOR AMERICA?? We added a new lead singer after this first cover.
The band is over the top. The vocal needs more power , more layers. A base, and tenor multi track would make this out of this word. Good going guys. Make it like Queen did to BR
As a huge Kansas fan, and this being my favorite Kansas song, and also being a prog keyboardist hailing originally from Topeka, Kansas AND as someone who never comments on youtube, I have got to say - This is FREAKING BRILLIANT!!!!
This is from my nephew Mark in collaboration with "OurVirtualKansas"...I am promoting further collaboration...not sure the song, not sure the venue...but you guys RoCk!
hey gracias carnales!! ke bueno ke les gusto espero ke el prox iwal lo vean y les guste tanto como este!! cuidese saludos desde las choapas!! y de part de todos mis compañeros de banda!! grax otra vez por el comentario!
Tremendous job men. What a brave and rare bunch of musicians you are to cover Kansas so perfectly. I can't wait for the Song For America cover. Let me know if you need any help with the lead vocal parts. I have the means. Steve Walshe vocals are my forte. I'll be standing by.
Yes - Al, we've deliberated about it and we think we'll give you a shot at the Walsh vocals for our rendition of Song For America. Give me a shout if you need more info - thanks.
To all above my last reply - thank you so much for the very kind words. It was a project of love by all of us for a band we all admire and respect tremendously. I'm personally very thrilled to be just a part of all the talented guys who all worked together to get this song done. I can also now say that the next song will be "Song For America" completed sometime in the beginning of the new year. Jerry, George, Roland, and myself will definitely be back. Hope the others will be with us as well.
Neal...you guys did a helluva job on this one! Good luck with SFA, I will be looking forward to hearing it. I am a member of EMP (EMPProject here on youtube) and we have plans to do SFA as well as sort of a 4th of July celebration thingie. We have been really good at doing things for Christmas and so we're going to try for something in the mid-year range this year...LOL. Keep Rawkin, Bro...I LOVE your Rick!
Wow- that was exceptional for your first try at a collab. Sounds great! Jerry and Neal- great work bros. Your singer sounds like Jon Anderson from Yes. Very talented bunch- and such an ambitious song to do. Great work!
Thanks to all for leaving such kind compliments and words of encouragement. The next song is being planned out now and hopefully will get started doing the whole process once again. I can only hope that we collectively can produce a new song with a new video and perhaps begin to expand all aspects of our collective efforts. And just in case anyone would like to know -none of us have ever done this type of video collaboration before. It continues to be an amazing learning experience for us all.
Der Musikstil erinnert mich an Dream Theater. Gelungene Heavy Metal Ballade! Ihr hättet von meinem Video aus Maulbronn ruhig noch mehr Szenen nutzen können. Also, weiterhin viel Erfolg mit eurer Band.
For those of us that do not read or understand German...A computer translation of the comment is as follows...
"The music style reminds one me of Dream theater. Gelungene Heavy Metal ballad! You would have been able to use quietly yet more scenes of my video out of Maulbronn. Therefore, further much take place by means of your volumes."
Mikimerki has provided some of the background, "Mariabronn" scenes from Maulbronn Abbey.
A less automatic, less hilarious, free translation:
"The musical style reminds me of Dream Theater. You did very well with this heavy metal ballad! Could have used even more scenes from my Maulbronn video if you liked. I wish you all the best for your band. "
Thanks, miki. I don't think it's heavy metal, nor is it a ballad. But you are right, Kansas has been a main inspiration for Dream Theater.
Thanks to all who've stopped by from the Musicians Collaboration Website! I'm sure I can speak for the group when I say the kind words are greatly appreciated. Thanks and take care, Neal
Very nice...maybe next time you'll pick a song that's not so basic and easy to play...No seriously great job....so much going on, I got a headache just imagining the logistical stuff getting such a complex song recorded mixed and edited...Great job!!
Wow, wow, wow!!! This is even better than I expected!! Great work by all of you guys! The special effects and the sound are fantastic, too. In my opinion you are one of the best cover bands there is and I'm looking forward to your next work :-)
This put me to tears ! Each of you should be very proud of what you have done here. The worlds 1st internet Kansas band. Put together by a drummer who had a vision and made it happen ! I am so happy for you Jerry .. I knew when George was at the helm this was going to be great ..... AND GREAT IT IS !!
Totally awesome Jerry!!!! You've assembled quite a group of musicians there! I see you got George on the keys and The guitar player smokes as well as the violin player. The bass player is awesome and I don't know what people expect from your vocalist! I mean come on Walsh is a one in a million singer and some pretty big shoes to fill! Great first project! I can't wait for the next one!....Rick
