A white mind applies to anyone, not just people with white skin. If you have a "white mind" you feel that your views are the only truly valid views. Other cultures and other people's way of life are trampled over, in another example: as witnessed by the European settlers and the Native Americans in North and South America. There is a lot of "white mindedness" in religion as well, especially th e big religions: Christianity and Islam.
What I mean by this (religion) is that there are a lot of people that think their religion is the one TRUE religion, but people should have open minds and listen to what others have to say. So many bad things come from not seeing each other as brothers and sisters regardless of race/religion/culture. We should respect each other as human beings.
When we respect each other as human beings, we will see that we don't have to tear down one in order to build up another. Our spirits, our souls are all equal in the eyes of God. Human beings are on a journey to this truth... This life on earth is one long journey to truth. Love is THE most powerful thing. It's power is unequaled. Love overcomes ALL.

I don't know anything about that. It's just manners, nothing more, nothing less. I know a lot of (white) women who will reach out and touch a friend's hair. Folks need to make an effort. Read the history. Research. Immerse yourself with all of your heart and soul. A lot of answers you'll find within yourself, really. If you just THINK. Put yourself in another person's skin as best you can. and again...THINK. If you do this with sincerity, then something will awaken inside of you... awareness..and awareness leads to understanding and understanding leads to unity.

I still ask the question... especially if you are not African American/Black, why would you want to say the N word? why would you care if other blacks call themselves the N word. Sounds to me like its an issue amongst the people who are calling themselves the N word, a cultural hurdle WE need to jump over and leave it behind. Agreed. The whole black family never looks completely white in their makeup. The dad pulls it off a little bit, but the mom and the son just look very freaky. Also, their voices and accents give them away.
The other family does look black, though. It's easier to pass off as a black person with "white" features than as a white person with black features.

cont.. Hey Bruno, it's great that you have a positive outlook on life. HOWEVER, you cannot dismiss another person's perspective of the world when they have a completely different reality. You don't just sweep the past under a rug, it doesn't work that way. Acknowledgment of the past is VITAL in order to have a future in which reconciliation is possible. This white family had no clue and it was sad and frustrating to watch.

Yeah, I definitely appreciate the choice of families, too. There is a lot of ignorance out there and that definitely needed to be represented. I am glad that Renee was able to make friends with someone who did seem to get it. And yeah, I do like Bruno's philosophy, I carry that philosophy myself. But if only he could combine that philosophy with an open mind... now we'd be getting somewhere.. =)

A white mind applies to anyone, not just people with white skin. If you have a "white mind" you feel that your views are the only truly valid views. Other cultures and other people's way of life are trampled over, in another example: as witnessed by the European settlers and the Native Americans in North and South America. There is a lot of "white mindedness" in religion as well, especially th e big religions: Christianity and Islam.

I don't know anything about that. It's just manners, nothing more, nothing less. I know a lot of (white) women who will reach out and touch a friend's hair. It's not that big of a deal, I'm not going to try to see something negative where there is none. Carmen just overstepped her bounds a bit, in that the woman was a stranger. I think people are just people. We need to look more at the spiritual which is everlasting and less at the physical which is fleeting.
