man u made me cry this is the last game show music that my brother heard b4 he died and he loved game shows ending music w/o gameshow network interupting the credits and the music thank you so much
This show is SOOO much fun to play along with and I've played downloadable pc versions of it which sadly are no longer available online. If only somehow a network now a days could gain the rights to it.
Chuck Woolery's wardrobe is Furnished by Pierre Cardin... very stylish ...!! how awesome I haven't heard the name Pierre Cardin in forever!! God I Miss this show and Chuck and his stylish Suits.
Hmm...near the end of the show, the cube swiveled around to the crossword board. Were they getting ready to film another show after that show finished filming? I didn't usually see that happen during the closes, so I'm curious if that was a goof-up of the producers to show that or if that usually happened from time to time to see it suddenly turn like that.
well it depends on where they're at when the show closes out. On some eps. (this is all during the July 1984-spring '86 straddled eps.) if the show ends during the Crossword round, they'll just leave the cube at the crossword round side of it. Other than that, they usually like to swivel the cube from being at the Sprint round's side to the Crossword round's side to let viewers know that the RG logo was coming.
If GSN got the rights to Scrabble, most likely, no. They don't show the Fremantle logo on old Goodson-Todman productions (Match Game, Family Feud, Password Plus, etc) -- it's all removed by the Credit Crunch.
Um, you're wrong. Some shows by G-T still has the G-T and Mark Goodson logos shown and intact on the credit crunch. Such as "Match Game 77" and "Password". Even sometimes on Dawson's version of "Family Feud" during the 80s.
Another thing, FremantleMedia North America does own this game show. But the Reg Grundy game shows weren't included in the package because Grundy wasn't bought by Pearson Television until 1995.
Because of the credit crunches, *MOST* times the G-T logo wouldn't get to be shown. In the rare event they let the credits role long enough, I assume they'd let it remain the old RG logo.

@godgundam10 Or maybe they should put Hasbro Studios on there after the Reg Grundy logo. Hasbro is the best toy company ever to put "Scrabble" on the map. Hasbro made toys along with "GI Joe", "The Transformers", "My Little Pony", "Mr. Potato Head" and many others as part of the Hasbro franchise. "Scrabble" is part of the Hasbro bandwagon. I hope if Hasbro gets it right, they will get reruns of the classic game show on any station like the Hub where they run "Family Game Night".
fyi, this Reg Grundy logo was a brass casting about 3 feet across, swiveling on a platform, it was very heavy!.....we later switched to an animated version when the technology was available.

@palmercomm Or maybe the Hub would get the rights to air the 1980's version of "Scrabble", maybe Hasbro Studios will be a distribution to the classic 80's cartoon shows like "GI Joe", "The Transformers" and "My Little Pony & Friends". All three shows are produced by Hasbro Productions, Sunbow and Marvel Productions. "Scrabble" is from Reg Grundy Productions and distributed by Hasbro, and Hasbro is the makers of "Scrabble". That would be four shows made by Hasbro.
Wow, lot of time left at the end of that show. Wonder if it was mistimed. Great to see full credits. Nowadays that is all shrunk back in tiny font that runs at hyperspeed so you can't read it anyway.
Interesting observation dwiller1, but I wouldn't be so quick to blame mistiming on a producer. There are lots of variables on how quickly or slowly a game show can move along.
Wouldn't surprise if that's Alan Kalter (currently the announcer of "The Late Show with David Letterman", and even did "Pyramid" in New York City shortly after Bob Clayton died).

from July 1984 until sometime in 1986, Jay Stewart was your announcer on Scrabble. Charlie Tuna was a sub-announcer in 1985 before he permanently became the announcer from sometime in 1986 until March 1990 and for the '93 revival.

It's too bad they didn't have the cube rotate around or have any flashing animations in the 1993 version.

If all this was taped, ya should've included the USA Update, the commercial that followed it, the bumper, and the Pyramid Intro!

I remember getting super excited by this time during the Game Show Block! I always loved the Pyramid!

BTW, if GSN or another channel got the rights to air Scrabble, the Fremantle logo would be shown after the video faded to black, right?

Does Fremantle have the rights?

That's strange. Why didn't you use the Grundy Trapezoid (used in Australia)?
palmercomm 3 years ago
BTW, would you please add this boatload of information to the respective Wikipedia pages?
palmercomm 3 years ago
actually the Australian Grundy TV logo is an icosahedron, I'm totally serious....so there!..:)

OK. So, do you know where they're keeping all the Scrabble tapes? Maybe they can finally go to GSN.
