That is too advanced for a 101 class. Spanish is hard. Especially the damn "I, You, He/She, We, They" parts. They have like, 100 different versions of what we only have five of in English.

What you're thinking of is conjugations, and you have that in English too: I run, I ran, I had ran, I've/have run, I am running, I was running, I will be running, I will run, and that's just some of the nominative case so far. And yes, you would learn that in a Spanish 101 (or Spanish 1 in high school) class.
