40 mans weren't hard, just nobody knew what the fuck they were doing. Warlocks would just fucking shadow bolt and hope it was good damage. Nobody knew what the hell they were doing and you have 40 of those people. Giant cluster fucks of nobody having any idea what is good and what is bad.

We all have DPS meters and formulas and shit now so everything is tuned WAY up to account for that and it still feels easier.

No, things were more gear dependent. Talents and skills weren't as set-up as they are nowadays with cookie-cutter rotations n' shit. Back then, there were certain know-how's and of course there specific ways to do good dps, but not at all like Burning Crusade and Wrath.

That's the same reason why the non-hardcore guilds got stuck on Hydross in SSC because you needed two tanks with full resist sets and finding two reliable people like that isn't easy to find. Good riddance to the BS resist sets.
