Considering that the songs were written for the shows and the Partridge Family wasn't actually a group, the music is incredibly good. David Cassidy was a legitimate talent in his own write and the songwriters and actual musicians/backing singers deserve a lot of credit for some fine work.
Do you remember the episode when Laurie had to get braces? Her boyfriend in that episode was none other than Luke Skywalker hisself, Mark Hamill. May the Force be with you, Laurie.
Forget the teen idol crap....WHO could have made these songs HITS? Only David Cassidy.I've always thought he had the best voice I've ever heard.TALENT....pure and simple!
This is one of favorite songs from SOUND MAGAZINE album. I have every episode of the Partridge family and every album recorded on DVD and CD. I was ten when the show was on prime time Fridays after the Brady Bunch. Oh!!! what nice memories from the 1970s. Thanks for posting.

I'm still hoping for the reunion movie, meanwhile I hope someone can find the SNL episode when Susan Dey does a spoof on the Partridge Family. I want to see that again.
It's too bad music isn't written and sung like this anymore. Music today just doesn't resonate through you like these songs do. There are some songs today that sound ok, but when you really listen to them, they have made up artificial feelings attached to them. Oh and that rap crap really sucks. I don't care what anyone says, that's no where close to music. Relly nice video, thanks for sharing.
One of my favorites too...I would love to hear this song without the lyrics, just rack only because I am sure it would sound great...not that I dont like David's vocals, but the music was played by the Wrecking Crew, alot of whom played on most of the Beach Boys hits...great stuff!
I love this song! David Cassidy still looks good! HallMark Channel shows "The Partridge Family" early weekend mornings I believe from 6-8 AM! I came upon it while falling asleep in front of my TV Friday night and being awakened by "Together We're Better."
Happy Birthday to David Cassidy!! Hard to believe he's 60 years old. Where have the years gone?? I never missed an episode of The Partridge Family and I bought every album they made. Such happy times.
@mgrella63 I too miss those days - they were so carefree and people were a lot happier. Maybe it was because we were a lot more innocent than today's generation. The first and second album of the Partridge Family are the best. I remember I had to save all my dimes and nickels to be able to buy them. And I didn't even have a record player, so I would go over to my friend's house to listen to them. Good ol' days. And I was madly in love with Susan Dey. Thanks for your comment.

I loved this show as a kid. But looking at these photos and others on this site, it now comes to me that I never realized just how pretty Susan Dey was.
According to a TV movie about David Cassidy I'd seen not too long ago, Susan was in love with him at one point but it was not reciprocated.
One can only guess what it felt like to be making this fine old show.
Yer right. Cant remember that much. I think I was around 8 years old 1973ish??. But lemme try. This was the TV line-up prime time ABC New York. It was the Nanny and professor 7pm. 7:30pm Brady Bunch. 8pm. Cant remember what night during the week. I kinda remember Apples got popular like 1976 took over on NBC?? I think.. Been a long time people. Cant remember.
Friday nights on ABC with Partridge Family and Brady Bunch made my kiddom memorable in many ways. Of the two the Partridge Family was far superior. Better looking cast, better story lines, drier comedy and THE MUSIC. Those were the days...
I was extracting the urine when I made that comment, as if you were having a crush on other boys on your street, double meaning etc. I love making comments in youtube and other sites to get reply's. I was trying to figure out how you knew where I was from....you looked at my account. Anyway, I also had a crush on her, the long dark hair pretty face. MIndy from Mork and Mindy also was a beauty. And there is two n's in guinness. Best of luck to you and your's......
God Almighty, this takes me back in time! I was actually a member of their fan club when I was just 8 y.o. I filled in the entry blank that was in TV Guide. I had a huge crush on Susan Dey, along with every other kid on my street! Thanks for bringing back such a great memory!!!
do you know how much they would make if you sell them? (they are on cd) because in the 70's and 80's people were trying to GET RID of them. NOW they want to find them to sell them...thinking someone would pay a lot of money? HEY THEY RE-ISSUED BRADY BUNCH ON VINYL!!!
My favorite from "Sound Magazine"! When I went home from my first semester of college (ulp! - 1980) this song played over and over in my head on the flight home.
This is My Favorite Partridge Family song of All Time!! I used to watch this show mostly to hear the Music! I knew the episode by the songs that were sung on them. I would be Like "Hey it's the Sunshine episode!" or "All right!! The episode with Singing my Song in it!" They don't make good stuff like this anymore! :(
@MsYounghippie We tried!! Check out our free CD and let us know what you think!! Yes, we recorded it too because it's one of our favorite songs too!! Link is in our video description!!
This is such a passionate and emotional song and David really put it over the top with his beautiful phrasing of the lyrics! He sings it with such emotion, amazing when you consider how young he was. Speaking of lineups, not sure if this was when PF was on Fri. or after switch to Sat., but does anyone remember Ghost Story/Circle of Fear series? My sis and I used to watch PF, go play for awhile, then come back and watch GS/COF. My fave episode was the one Susan guest starred on.
Watched the PF every friday night at my aunt & uncles. Precious memories. Makes me miss them terribly. Im 49 and STILL love to hear their songs. What a wonderful time. You young people do not know what you missed by not being here in the 70's.
YES!!..Im 46 also, and yes that was the best Friday line up ever!!..ahh,havent read the rest here, but Im assuming I remember right..Brady Bunch-Partridge-Mary Tyler Moore-Rhoda and then last but not least The Carol Burnette show?!!
When the PF credits rolled at the beginning, my older sister opened her window. When the credits got to David Cassidy, she would lean her head out the window and shriek at the top of her lungs because she had such a terrible thing for him.
49, here. Sound Magazine was my favourite album, probably because it was the one I owned. I loved both Susan Dey AND Shirley Jones! (And I wanted David's hair!)
Probably my favorite of their songs, too. Memories of that ABC Friday night lineup: Brady Bunch, Nanny & The Professor, Partridge Family, Room 222 and Love, American Style... I'm 47 now, and I'll bet there isn't a guy my age who DIDN'T have a crush on Susan Dey back around 1972.
caljees, we are both members of club 47! I would say the Partridges were right at the top of the mountain peak with this song, it's one of my favorites too. The first three PF albums are classics, especially Sound Magazine. After that things slowly went downhill, there were still some good songs but they never duplicated the greatness of those first three LP's.
caljees, I'm 46 and you are indeed correct about Susan Dey. In addition to all the other reasons to love her, she picked up the Rolling Stones on her braces. Whatta woman.
good is good, and this is good music, extremely well crafted, produced and performed. I am shocked how well it holds up, really. Obviously nostqalgia is a big part of the appeal for most of us, but the stuff holds it own.

Go fuck yourself to death, you goddamned stupid twit.
I remember when you told me I'd return, you knew even then, something I had to learn, it's so far and yet, it's right there where you live, it's something that you get only when you give........
I love this song, have been singing it all my life with my recollection of lyrics from Grade 2. WOOHOO, now I can see what they were supposed to be, and what they meant!
Great song! Man, I can sit here for hours and listen to all these songs! Hey, maybe Susan Dey is watching all these songs, reading all the positive comments, and realize what a fan club she still has out here! Think reunion, right SumerKis38?!?!
Ditto..also listen to "that'll be the day" these 2 songs are great together. then try to get ''plantlife" "what a world" and get all 3 for a great trio of songs.let me know what you think.
In the Mid-West, there was a radio station that played Partridge Family songs (2003). I couldn't believe it! I called the station and they said they get requests ALL the time for those songs.
It would be hard to pick a favorite Partridge Family song... too many great ones to choose from. But this could be the one, lol. That bridge section is beautiful and unforgettable, and the way it transitions back into the main body of the song elevates the mood of the listener. Beautiful, great stuff... and David's voice is a very, very large part of that.
Love it! I agree who cares what others think? like what you like, I say, and be proud of it! David Cassidy, oh yes! Bay City Rollers, yes! Leif Garrett yes! :)
Evidently he was a pita. So they replaced him between seasons. At that time they said that his family was moving to another state. But he was uncontrollable and didn't get along with others.
I am 44 and have been singing this song all my life! It stuck in my head from when I used to watch the Partridge Family....wow this is the first time I have actually heard it since the 70's. Thank you! I still think it is a pretty song. And I still love their music, although I am too embarrassed to tell most people.
It's one of my favorites. I stopped worrying about what people thought when I say or have said about what type of music I listen too lol. I love this music. I have all my life and will continue too lol =)
:) Oh, I know. I also still like some of the Bay City Rollers music! I don't know which is worse. I am so glad this is here, I enjoy listening to it, and my ancient record player couldn't possibly produce anything close with those dusty scratched albums I kept. LOL thank you!
You should listen more CAREfully. I'm from this is era as well, but I have 2 kids from the world as it is now. Now we have IrAq and places that you probably had'nt even realized existed. (Ever heard of Tibet)?? In Europe our teens are still trying to make a better place. The largest problem is the US....
Anyone can see that the Bush Administration misadventures were mistakes, but how is it you can call the U.S. "the largest problem"? Would you rather the Russians, Chinese or Muslim terrorists were world superpowers? As for your teens, you anoint them a little too easily. They're just teens, I know. I've spent time in Italy, France, Spain and England, and found them to be just as self absorbed as teens anywhere else. "Peace and love" from an armchair; volunteering--not!
Go Danny B.! I listen to him on KZOK every weekday, he is awesome.

A good song...
Nothing "world changing", but why does the world need to be changed?
This TV Show was a decent show - OK, fine, nothing destructive - the audience liked it.
The actor(s) who went through hell being obsessed with the character on this TV show - this shouldn't have happened.
Actors "act" - they should not be forced to be the character they play.
I wish David Cassidy and all actors all the best. In this case you did an good job.
Have a good life.

What about the 1680s?

If it were a word, it would be spelled 'gorgeosity'. Not to be confused with "George's city".

good is good, and this is good music, extremely well crafted, produced and performed. I am shocked how well it holds up, really. Obviously nostqalgia is a big part of the appeal for most of us, but the stuff holds it own.

Great song! Man, I can sit here for hours and listen to all these songs! Hey, maybe Susan Dey is watching all these songs, reading all the positive comments, and realize what a fan club she still has out here! Think reunion, right SumerKis38?!?!

How did they handle the change with Chris :
From Jeremy to Brian ? Can't remember why Jeremy left ?
ilikegia 3 years ago
Evidently he was a pita. So they replaced him between seasons. At that time they said that his family was moving to another state. But he was uncontrollable and didn't get along with others.

I am 44 and have been singing this song all my life! It stuck in my head from when I used to watch the Partridge Family....wow this is the first time I have actually heard it since the 70's. Thank you! I still think it is a pretty song. And I still love their music, although I am too embarrassed to tell most people.
nobodysgirlforever 3 years ago 2
It's one of my favorites. I stopped worrying about what people thought when I say or have said about what type of music I listen too lol. I love this music. I have all my life and will continue too lol =)
SumerKis38 3 years ago
:) Oh, I know. I also still like some of the Bay City Rollers music! I don't know which is worse. I am so glad this is here, I enjoy listening to it, and my ancient record player couldn't possibly produce anything close with those dusty scratched albums I kept. LOL thank you!

My generation, all about LOVE and peace, trying to make the world a better place. unlike todays teens, with the violent rap music full of hate.
salad103 3 years ago
You should listen more CAREfully. I'm from this is era as well, but I have 2 kids from the world as it is now. Now we have IrAq and places that you probably had'nt even realized existed. (Ever heard of Tibet)?? In Europe our teens are still trying to make a better place. The largest problem is the US....
JuliamadaboutJames 3 years ago
we protested vietnam, fought for civil rights. things changed,we made difference, helped change this country, todays kids dont give a damn.
salad103 3 years ago
@JuliamadaboutJames
