  • Uploader, are you still there? I'm going to be running a 9500 with this board :D

  • whats that blue string at your handwrist??

  • I realize this is like 2 years old, but I clicked on it since I bought the exact same mobo and CPU combo, haha. My mobo was jacked up though, can't run 4 sticks of ram and the onboard LAN didn't work. Funnily enough though, it actually did turn on and work fine with the 9850 in the M3A-H, on the BIOS it came with. Odd that it didn't work for you, but hopefully you didn't have the -other- issues I did.

  • CAT!

  • video idiot !!!

  • just imagine if he stepped on it

  • i have the same mobo, and i have a amd phenom II X4 940.

  • just a question. do you realy think that people will read that big a discription.

  • no.

  • @TAJNI2929 i just finnished to read

  • There is something weird here.

After some research i found that the M3A 770 is compatible only with the HD9850WCJ4BGH model, this is the 95W version and teorically it can't handle any 125W processors, while the M3A-H/HDMI is compatible with the 95W and 125W ones (HD9850XAJ4BGH/HD985ZXAJ4BGH).

From what i can see this is the 125W model, are you saying that it didnt work on the M3A-H/HDMI and is working on the M3a 770? lol

  • That's exactly what I'm saying... The "something weird here" feeling is exactly what I felt when I discovered this at home, and why I posted the vid.

The 125W model is, in fact, still working GREAT on my M3A 770 though, so at least I didn't have to send anything back.

  • And why do you have an anti-cat force field generator? Cats are cute!

  • what case have you?

  • It's an anti-cat force field generator.

  • anti-static wrist strap. Prevents ESD.

  • Rue Lawliet FTW!

    L pwns!

  • amd phenom x4 9950 2.6 black edtion + gf 9800 gt 512 mb and asus m3a is good ? or i will have problem with amd with NVidia ?

  • I really don't know. I haven't tried that combo, but good luck!

  • Brvoo NIce Movie Serios . AMD Rullz

What Videocard you use ? Bye

  • I've been using the following setup for almost a year now without a single hitch!

Asus M3A 770 (not the one in the vid)

    AMD Phenom X4 9850 BE

    XFX 8600GT - only 256 MB

    4 GB ADATA DDR2 800 ram

Either WD or Seagate 7200 RPM HDD...

    I forgot the PSU...

All in a CM Stacker Evolution 830 case with tons of quiet fans...

  • what does L have to do with any of this

  • The same thing cats have to do with it... :P

  • lol - exactly...

  • geiles lied..

  • WTF L ??? lol i clicked because i thought it was to do with DN xD

anyway cool and yeah i did read just thought i would say that xD

  • nice cat =) 5/5

  • Thanks. :) She's a diva, hog'n the spotlight. :P

  • Well for 1 your on top of a carpet while doing this, so you could have shorted it out :S?

  • it's on an anti-static bag, i'm wearing an anti-static wrist strap, and all of the components actually work, still to this day, except just not with eachother.

  • check if the boards compatible with it, if not im sure thered be some sort of update from the mobos sight to support it, i dont think your psu would have anything to do with it.

  • all peoples that have problems, i have self an m3n-h/hdmi whith an phenom 9950 and it works super and i am can overclock well also : D but i am had problem before i am updated my bios to version 1301 update the bios to 1301 and you will be fine.

  • are u shure??? im a little bit scared od updating, what if the elctricity go's down??

  • nope no fear only use only asus update utillity that thing and you will be fine...xD

  • my problem is not like that i wasnt able to install windows because it doesnt work from start... just rebooting every 15seconds on new motherboard...

  • if it is so for you the only thing you can do are to insert a old cpu like amd x2 cpus all fits and update the bios whith that(that i am did)

  • i dont have phenom i have am2 5600+ x2, and its and my nurves are fucked up:D! Should i update it threw flash?

  • no you should download asus utility asus update thing from asus website and that is the easiest way to update bios, and u must also download the update file to your motherboard..(whats your motherboard??)

  • you dont understad I DONT HAVE ANYYY WINDOWS BECAUSE I CANT ISTALL IT, BECAUSE VERY !SECONDS MY COMPUTER REBOOTS! Should i update it in that flash(dont know how its said). Motherboard is this one the vid!

  • What about the cat? She's doing all the hard job..

  • I had the same problem when i first installed it, but i fixed it by adding a second power connector i missed. Have you checked that there is a 4 pin p2 connector on the upper-left hand corner? Thats the socket i had to plug in.

  • Yes, I connected that one. The problem could only be the processor/mobo combo being incompatible, since the 5000 BE X2 processor works just fine in it, and the 9850 works just fine in a different board. I'd love to hear from someone who actually got this processor/mobo combo to work...

  • Have you tried asus's website for a bios update i have this board and there are several updates asus says its AM3 ready so your phenom should work

  • how the f... can you update bios if its shuting down and i cant get into bios setup and nothing like that??????

  • sometimes you can order a flashed bios and pull the old one. I try not to buy boards when they first come out, and try to get version 2 or 3 boards

  • not even falshing didnt helped... fucked up motherboard, i sent it back week ago! Expecting new one, I think the USB port was destroyed(not by me)XD...

  • so is that a Phenom quad core?

  • I had this exact problem with my new build (AMD Phenom 2.5GHZ BE, 4GB RAM on an M3A) , so, being the confused, stressed, computer building novice I was at the time, I took it to a computer shop. To my amazement, they fixed it and it only cost £10. They said it was something to do the the M3A's jumper settings. As they did everything, I am not too sure of what they changed.

  • do you know where i can find a list of motherboards compatible with AMD CPUs/Processors? I need find one for a school project if you know please tell me

  • lol the cat :D

  • Just update your bios after you install your 5000+BE and then your 9850 should be recognized and it will post.

  • yea was just about to say that

    this kids a fool

send it back and go its broke wow!

  • I put a 5000+ BE in to update the bios before even trying this. Read the vid info crackhead.

  • This is too my greatest Hoby!! i love building computers, i build them and sell them for the build price just for fun hehe

  • I TOO BUT I SELL THEM FOR MORE BECAUSE I BUILD REALLY ONLY THINGS WITH BRAND LIKE ASUS AMD etc ---TOO I HAVE A PAGE FOUND HERE IN GERMAN THERE I CAN BUY THINGS CHEAPER

  • I just noticed that we also have the same Zalman heatsink. We buy a lot of the same stuff!

  • I'm having the same exact problem. Did you end up just RMAing the CPU or board or what?

  • I swapped the CPU with a 5000+BE that was sitting in an Asus M3A770 board in another build. The 5000+ works fine in the 780g, and the 9850 works fine in the 770... lol - whatever works, I guess. If I didn't have that other board to try it in then I would have RMA'd it.

  • I actually just got it to post, but I had to use another AM2 processor (2x instead of the 4x Phenom). Surely there's a bios update or something that will fix the prob (I hope).

  • just built my computer with a m3n-hd/hdmi mobo

    amd 9950 phenom 2gb 800 ddr2 ram and a nvidia 9600gt

  • is a amd quad core 9950 socket am2+ compatable with a am2 socket???? jsut bought the processor!!!! do i have to get a new mobo???

  • Lmao is doing all of that on carpet

  • on an anti-static bag, while wearing an anti-static wrist strap, with an anti-static cat... :P

  • Cool

  • lol - ya, glad you enjoyed it.

Update: No problems with the 9850 + Asus M3A 770 mobo combo so far.

Note: With proper case-modification, you might be able to use a 9850 as a space heater.

  • your real good at making videos.

  • hey watsup, i got the same mobo u do and the m3a EMH DMI 780G micro atx doesnt support cpus above 95watts, so for a dual core cpu as of right now u can use no more than a 6000+ and for a quad core u can use no more than a 9650, u can however use all x3 edition cpus, amd will turn all of there cpus to 95watts

  • I haven't checked recently, but at the time I built, Asus was claiming compatibility with the M3A 780g + Phenom 9850 combo (with a bios upgrade). Everyone was skeptical so I tested it, and as you can see, it didn't work for me. The 9850 now lives on in my M3A 770, and a 500+ BE runs my 780g. :)

  • lol i like da cat who walks through! he looks sweet, great video, looks like it gonnna be a nice PC

  • does that board even work with 125w cpu?

  • I haven't checked lately, but back when I bought the board it was listed as compatible (with bios upgrade). However, it didn't work for me, and that's why I posted this vid. The 9850 is working in my M3A 770 board though...

  • upgr the bos

  • rd te mr nfo sxn. --->

  • i thought you did a very good part on the vid side

  • i know what is wrong...

This motherboard doesnt support cpu's that need more than 95 Watt's...

    sorry m8..

had the same problem at work :)

  • yep. It's official as far as I'm concerned, even though Asus will tell you different. No worries though, I've got a 5000+ Black Edition back in this board and it's working great. :)

As I've said elsewhere, the 9850 is running VERY well in an older Asus M3A 770... so far.

  • You are wrong aarrdbei. I have a AMD 64 X2 6000+ running and it takes 125WATTS

  • lol... indeed, i did to get it running again with the 6000+

The sad thing is, 2 weeks ago.

My mobo and CPU said BOOOOOOMMMM together in harmony -.-'

    Ah wel :P

  • You'll just fry the mosfet on the board with the 9850.

The wattage is too high for the m3a even if asus tends to say the opposite.

  • So far, it's running great on my M3A 770. I'll be sure to post an update if it fries the board... lol

  • i no, the asus m3a motherboard doesnot work with a quad core 9850, it will work with other smaller quad cores though

  • I have the same config. Boot/Reboot until it does post, then I flashed the BIOS from flash drive, and after bios version 604? the processor is supposedly fully supported. Although my graphics card never worked correctly,. and my integrated graphics are shaky at best.

  • nice cat xD

  • thats the cpu-pover-supply problem...

your board doesn't support thar kind of cpus

  • yep - but my Asus M3A 770 runs the Phenom 9850 just fine.

  • i have the exact same setup he has with 650watt powersupply, and a nvidia 9800 gtx works fine i got a really good air cooling setup though works fine

  • Update: Swapped a 5000+BE back into the M3A-H/HDMI and it runs great! Swapped the 9850 into an older M3A 770 and it seems to run great too, except now I'm working out issues related to that mobo + Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet driver, which has nothing to do with the 9850 CPU and has been addressed elsewhere. Will post performance results once I work through the stupid ethernet driver issue... -_-

  • I just sent you another message.Someone else was having the same issue.I just saw his post at newegg on this motherboard

in which he mentioned what made it work with the 9850BE.

  • i know for a fact its your motherboard.

  • I got the Gigabyte version of this board. That one has no issues right now from what i read. The only thing thats missing is Asus Express Gate, but thats in your model :p/

  • I hate to say but the poor board seems don't have enough juice (CPU PWM) to push Phenom 9850BE (power hungry puppy)

Maybe you should wait for ASUS 790GX / DFI 790GX board ( I saw them in Computex Taipei and they are releasing it within the summer )

The new board with 790GX do support 140W Phenom

  • Have you tried resetting bios with the jumper ?

Also go to the ASUS support forums for help too.

  • Yes I tried the 'clear cmos' jumper trick. I think what I'll do is try to drop that 9850 into an Asus M3A 770 board I've got, and put the 5000+BE back into the M3A-H/HDMI. Newegg is charging a 15% restocking fee to RMA the CPU because it's "incompatible", but I suspect it might actually be defective -- largely based on the fact that Asus lists 9850 as being compatible... just no time to monkey with it for a couple days yet.

  • I would have chosen the ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe Mainboard instead for the 9850 BE CPU since it's listed as supported on both AMD's and ASUS website. On ASUS website the M3A32-MVP Deluxe is listed has having support for up to 140 watt CPU's.

  • The worst part is that I KNEW 780g boards were having trouble with the 9850. I'm just stubborn and wanted to try it -- plus the Asus site had the 9850 listed as a supported CPU for this board... but thanks for the advice.

  • I wouldn't dare try a 9850 with a 780g board.Really I would only consider the 95 watt 9550 CPU (with No overclocking) with a 780g board.I have seen a lot of boards lately that claim support for the 9850 but only a very few that actually work right.I've seen support recently revoked on several boards too (Gigabyte ones).Another board that works with the 9850 is the MSI K9A2 Platinum. One also has to be careful in selecting the type of memory compatable both for the 9850 CPU and Mainboard.

  • Sorry can't help you with your computer problem, but thanks for using this song. It's my new favourite song and this is the only result on youtube!

  • lol - np, I noticed that too.

  • WHOA wait. I realized, maybe the mobo don't support the high watts of the 125W Phenom.

  • According to Asus, bios version 0504 or later supports the 9850. I had flashed to version 0602 before dropping in the 9850.

And with "4+1 Phase Power Design" I thought the board would be ok, but maybe not...? Thanks for the suggestions though.

  • I'm lost then....google the problem and see if anyone else has it...solution maybe there

  • Are you working in a CARPET?.......ur fucked if thats a carpet i see. Luckey mobo didnt get screwed. just RMA it

  • yes that's a CARPET, but I never set the board on it. I'm working on the anti-static bag that it came with. The mobo is fine since it runs a 5000BE with no problems at all. I'll RMA the CPU. Check out the "more info" link at top right for "more info".
