This is amazing and astounding! I had never knew the concept of collective knowledge and creativity and new ideas originating not just from one person, but simply put forth as it had came from one person..when it was really that one persons collection of others ideas combined! Very enlightening! lol
Hemingway, pre-internet of course, said something very similar, about how writers trying to do something new and great, often turn to other writers or literature people to help them but because everyone has only ever done the same thing, the writers won't really improve, and only by forging ahead alone can the writer do this. He didn't make the connection with outside professions adding to the writers creativity, but it still seems like he was onto the same idea.

This is why the internet is such an interesting and useful tool. It allows people from all walks of life and parts of the globe to converse and share ideas and thoughts. True, there are some down sides,, but that's true with any technology, especially ones in their infancy.
Freedom. Freedom would allow competition to drive innovation.
If you want people to befriend a wide variety of people, than remove all the restrictions on travel imposed by government. Remove all the licensing laws that force you to take the same exact training as everybody else, & to practice in a single geographic region. Remove regulations so the people that know what they're doing can determine best practices instead of some bureaucrat. Remove all the barriers to entry imposed by government
@666norton420 "Force is perspective-driven?" You mean, if I don't realize I am being forced, then no force is being used? Sorry, you in Canada are forced to pay for the Canadian health care system whether you like it or not. I've had Canadian friends ask to stay with me in the States to get health care they were denied in Canada. I have relatives who are Canadian physicians who only work part of the year and know the system is broken.
Anecdotal claims are interesting, but rather useless. The system in Canada is not without its problems, some of them serious indeed. However, it is also interesting that the Canadian system seems to outperform the US system by any measure related to health that one cares to examine; be it cost, infant mortality, life expectancy, etc.
Canada's healthcare system has one major problem, that is the time it takes to see a doctor for surgeries and operations. The U.S. is incredible in this department. You can be told you need knee surgery one day and have it done in less than a week. But you do make some great points otherwise.
Agreed, the issues with emergency room waits would be greatly reduced by properly funding primary care....which is far cheaper than leaving people no option other than going to the emergency room.
Long term care also needs greater funding....having chronic care patients taking up critical care beds is a very bad idea.....we need to do better.
@truthadvocate in this country, i'd say that the gov tell you how NOT to do things, not how to.
also, i have no idea how travel would make people befriend a wider range of others. i go on vacation.....and? most of the time, i just better understand what i hate certain aspects of their culture.
so, the whole of your comment makes little sense to me.

@truthadvocate Wonderful!! Right on!
Freedom works.
Govt control via force tends not to.
And all govt control is implemented by force.

@freesk8 i find your comment rather humorous, as most force is perspective driven.
some children are FORCED to eat their vegetable, others, like myself, are smart enough to understand they're good for us and eat them.
we're human beings.(stupid) what may be force to some may be common sense to others. take the heathcare views of the US verses ours in canada.

Break any victimless crime law and see the force.

@kshackleton exactly.
i have friends in the states, one of them was stabbed 4 yrs ago. he had to have surgery and stay a few nights.... 4 or 5k later, he leaves.
so, after being stabbed, he's actually more worried about how he's going to pay his bill than about his own health... after being stabbed.
but you're right freesk8, we're being forced into it and that is wrong....
*face palm*
