Silver price fluctuates alot, in the early and late 90s it was from 8.00 to 10.00 ounce then 2000 dropped to 2.00 an ounce. I wouldn't spend 4K in silver, because should the currency be debased to the point of worthlessness, I wouldn't accept your silver either, it'd end up being barter. And I can't do anything with silver in such event.Maybe a tooth filling LOL. I do have a few ounces of silver because I collect pure silver and coins as well for fun, right now, its a bubble. Beware.

Bought several physical ounces of troy ingots for 2.00 an ounce. Buying now, is insane. All it takes is one country or large firm to dump the market with the stuff and prices plummet. As a family we have farmed that land for nearly 100 years. As far as protection goes, I am not worried. It is so far off the beaten path, that we would know if someone was coming. The natural water sources, and well on our land provide clean drinking water. If things go bad, come on over, and I'll give you a safe place to stay, and a meal.

Can't eat silver or gold. I have a year supply of food for each member of my family, over 40,000 variety heirloom seeds, 1,000's of rounds of ammo, all the necessary survival gear for any season, multiple safe bug out locations, and faith in God. I have extra over the counter medicine like aspirin, I have lots of toothpaste, soap, chlorine, etc. I keep adding to that. How long will that last. Found a website where a lady made pads out of absorbent material like terry cloth. Think about how the pioneers survived. They didn't have modern stuff like we do. It is insame. I got friends and family that are still putting into their 401K, 457K, 301B's, paying off credit cards, life insurance and other worthless paper and digital account BS. This stuff is worthless! I can't wake up people that even believe that the economy IS going to crash! At first, silver won't matter. You need a safe or defensible location, food, water, guns and ammo, + meds, & 1st aid supplies. When/If things settle down you will need seeds, tools, basic camping supplies (if you are rural on the run), a bike for trnsport. After awhile, silver and copper may be critical. I hope that period is brief until things settle down enough for reasonable people to find new ways to interact and trade either goods or commodity real money (gold, silver, copper, nickel).

The way it works is a person comes into my shop and wants to buy 10 oz of silver; I call my supplier and ask his price for 10 ozs. I then add my premium to my in house silver sell it and order immediate replacement.

I was at a coin show in Vegas on Friday, every dealer asked me if I had anything to sell. Many are looking for product to sell. They seem very much in need of more inventory. The show was very busy.
It is my business to buy and sell. If I sell 100 ozs. of silver in a day I make about 3% profit and immediately re purchase the silver from my supplier. I am the owner of a small coin shop in sw Louisiana. In the last two weeks I have sold over $40k in silver bullion to people who are finally waking up to what is coming. I think that most folks realize that things are bad, but I don't think that they understand we are on the verge of total financial collapse as a nation. Today, when a young man came in to sell me 65 oz. of silver, I convinced him not to sell. That doesn't make good business sense..but ...in this case it was the right thing to do

Silver price fluctuates alot, in the early and late 90s it was from 8.00 to 10.00 ounce then 2000 dropped to 2.00 an ounce. I wouldn't spend 4K in silver, because should the currency be debased to the point of worthlessness, I wouldn't accept your silver either, it'd end up being barter. And I can't do anything with silver in such event.Maybe a tooth filling LOL. I do have a few ounces of silver because I collect pure silver and coins as well for fun, right now, its a bubble. Beware.

Bought several physical ounces of troy ingots for 2.00 an ounce. Buying now, is insane. All it takes is one country or large firm to dump the market with the stuff and prices plummet. And in crazy end of currency scenario, barter will be the currency not jewelery, metals, or anything else. Good luck.

As a family we have farmed that land for nearly 100 years. As far as protection goes, I am not worried. It is so far off the beaten path, that we would know if someone was coming. The natural water sources, and well on our land provide clean drinking water. If things go bad, come on over, and I'll give you a safe place to stay, and a meal.

Can't eat silver or gold. I have a year supply of food for each member of my family, over 40,000 variety heirloom seeds, 1,000's of rounds of ammo, all the necessary survival gear for any season, multiple safe bug out locations, and faith in God. @firstlinesucks in a market meltdown scenario, shiny metals will have zero value. Gold might be valuable after currency(and humanity) is restablished. But in an actual economic meltdown, gold and silver are about as valuable as rocks.
First of all, the economy isnt tanking, but if you honestly believe it is... buy canned food, buy seeds. Or like you said, fishing rods... if you actually believe in the doomsday, precious metals are the worst investment.

can too consume silver orally [drink, not eat]. colloidal silver is a natural antibiotic/antibacterial compound that can be used in the absence of or, preferably imho, instead of antibiotics to treat infections, prevent infections etc. an extremely valuable thing to have on hand in terms of prep. I have extra over the counter medicine like aspirin, I have lots of toothpaste, soap, chlorine, etc. I keep adding to that. If the the economy tanks and food shortage and riots what ever occur i assume the banks will be vitually closed and chaos on the streets. @42apostate - You are right. You can't eat silver, but you can't eat paper products either. I would stock up on food and water first, then paper products in case of a water shortage. How long will that last. Found a website where a lady made pads out of absorbent material like terry cloth. Think about how the pioneers survived. They didn't have modern stuff like we do. When the toilet paper runs out, what will you use. Old magazines and catalogs like great grampa did. Think, prepare wisely.

At first, silver won't matter. You need a safe or defensible location, food, water, guns and ammo, + meds, & 1st aid supplies. When/If things settle down you will need seeds, tools, basic camping supplies (if you are rural on the run), a bike for trnsport. After awhile, silver and copper may be critical. I hope that period is brief until things settle down enough for reasonable people to find new ways to interact and trade either goods or commodity real money (gold, silver, copper, nickel).

Im not arguing but i am playing devils advocate here. If there is a total collapse will metals have any value to any one who does not have an actual use or personal value for them? I understand silver has lots of health benefits. Will electronics have much value if there is no food? The richest people who are better off now than ever. Will most likely take it with marshal law. The way it works is a person comes into my shop and wants to buy 10 oz of silver; I call my supplier and ask his price for 10 ozs. I then add my premium to my in house silver sell it and order immediate replacement.

It is my business to buy and sell. If I sell 100 ozs. of silver in a day I make about 3% profit and immediately re purchase the silver from my supplier. If you are thinking in dollars, you will lose. That has been a temporary issue before, but now is rampant. Silver is up 350% in less than 10 years. I'm from Canada, and as much as I hate to see what will happen when the SHTF, I can't but sympathize with the millions ill prepared. I have 100 oz's of silver on delivery now, and another 100 ordered today. Not sure if this will be enough...but will be better then nothing. Am not sure what it means to the Canadian and Global economies, but it can't be good. I commend you on your tireless effort to inform the the masses of people. People here too are clueless. I am the owner of a small coin shop in sw Louisiana. In the last two weeks I have sold over $40k in silver bullion to people who are finally waking up to what is coming. I think that most folks realize that things are bad, but I don't think that they understand we are on the verge of total financial collapse as a nation. Today, when a young man came in to sell me 65 oz. of silver, I convinced him not to sell. That doesn't make good business sense..but ...in this case it was the right thing to do
