I don't get all the comments i see about drudkh and their racism what the fuck is wrong with standing up for your own name of your tribe and further more the song titles have to do with nature and Sheveko and his poems only spoke ov the invaders that came to the Ukraine
Not true. Black metal is very simple genre, and if you add there too much elements it is not black metal anymore. Just like punk is not punk if you make it too complicated
@ihmemies2 Not true. Black metal has it's staples and elements, but branching out and adding other elements doesn't "unblackmetalify" it. That's the whole idea of black metal, to be different and separate from herd. And not all black metal is "very simple." Have you listened to Abigail Williams before? They're pretty damn technical.
@FLIPPITYFLOOP Feel your pain, bro, I always heard 'druudkhhh with a flat U and a 'kkkkkhhhh' like the beginning of the word 'Chanukah' (uh, the Jewish December festival, I think), but that's what they told me at Generation Records on Thompson Street in NYC; they could have been wrong. Luck! Great tune here, BTW, mass-murderous guitar tone. These guys could make a clown weep.
k really random question, but hopefully someone gets back to me on this. i fucking love this band and have 3 of their albums, but how do you say their name? ive pronounced it like "dr-uhd-kh", "dr-ood-kh", "dr-uhd", "dr-ood", someone help me out here im clueless :(
@FLIPPITYFLOOP I'm always just pronounced it "Druke", just duke with an R, and that seems to convey the message to people who listen to the band, but as far as the original pronounciation goes, I can't even find the word in Sanskrit dictionaries to look it up.
To those who like to argue that Drudkh is black metal and nothing but, I'd like to inform you that there is indeed melody, and a distinct absence of buzzing tremolo picking, early punk influences or blasting.
@Naggarmon They didn't release the lyrics to their first few albums. The ones that they did release were all Ukrainian poems, but my guess is you're best off looking on Dark Lyrics.
@hobodoctor Yeah bro I just had a look, Drudkh lyrics are indeed there on Dark Lyrics. Problem is; I can't understand Russian hahaha. Thanks anyway though man ^_^ translator anyone? lol
The quality is actually quite good for an underground Black Metal band and even more so considering when it was released. This is right on par with the "album copy". I own this CD. Learn your facts and stop posing.
Couldn't agree with you more, Sayujinse. This music is full of mysterious feelings, I can't believe someone actually came this close to the magic of nature...
The lame metal mags like Terrorizer are afraid that these guys are "racists". What pussies. They won't even review Graveland's cds because he's a "nazi". Why not let the fans simply decide who they like and they don't?
Honestly, Agalloch annoys me. It sound like some DnD nerds decided to make some metal. Maybe it's the vocals. And while minimalism in music can be pulled off, I don't think they do it well. They have a boring, uninspired sound.
That said, Hails to Drudkh on this album. Minimalist as hell, but with that entrancing quality I love.

I went through a phase of thinking Agalloch was beautiful and stuff, but I'm not a huge fan anymore. More than anything, the lyrics and singing bug me. The instrumentation is nice though. I always liked Agalloch's instrumental songs, I'll still play those sometimes.
@TheKvltist I did that once listening to Agalloch, I also skied down a really high mountain in Austria once with amazing views in every direction listening to Taake's Nattestid album; that was fucking good too

Black Metal doesn't HAVE to have blast beats. Black Metal is a form of expression. None of those "techniques" have to be present
