  • you look like a Hobbit drinking out of that cup!

  • this VH retard knows nothing about acting he is not even worth responding to

  • Because of this video, I officially named myself Baby_Bitch_Butterfly on my message board...

  • ...Visual media used to portray an emotion or emotions or concept? Yup, it's art!

  • ugh role*

  • the dark knight damn it heath ledger made that movie let alone that fucking roll thats god damned art!

  • Han Solo is a great example of a character deeply influenced by the actor who played him.

  • SAY FUCKING AGAIN!!

  • Did those dishes ever get done? lol, good vid

  • I think the makeup artists for horror movies are the best artists.

  • I hope you didn't buy that mug for your wife.

  • my initals are PMS :(

  • As far as I'm concerned, if someone can create something that makes you feel, or makes you think about the world around you or anything like that it's art. So if an actor can make you do any of that through playing a character, than there is no way he isn't an artist.

  • Marlon Brando said that actors are not artists. He said acting is a trade. Says it in a Dick Cavett interview posted here on You Tube. And Brando was great no doubt.

  • @CelestialWoodway Would that be an argument from authority you are making there?

  • @TheGreatOldOnes Yes. As opposed to arguments made by douche bags on You tube with no acting experience.

  • @CelestialWoodway Quoting actors doesn't qualify as acting experience.

  • @Darkaero199 No shit assface!

  • @CelestialWoodway Wouldn't having an ass for a face require shit? You make no sense, sir.

  • I love your videos. You are such a DILF

  • Robert DeNiro is a artist. Raging Bull proved that to me.

  • tht name "virtual holicaust" makes me uncomfortable. please edit it out of your video. sir. thank you.

  • who's the real troll here?

  • snds good -- pls don't say - brad pitt or clooney

  • Art is such an arbitrary concept.

  • Comment removed

  • So, if I punch you in the face, you get mad at me, that is art? Nice!

  • Comment removed

  • That guy was totally contradicting himself. If people in videos are mere "actors" then he too would be an actor so why should we honor his opinion?

  • the ultimate paradox

  • HEh the fact that he said "That's It!" is fucking hilarious

  • it's kinda like saying the music composer is the artist and the instrumental performers are not.

  • I was seriously about to make that comparison, and then I looked at the recent comment on this, and I was like .. FUCK. That was supposed to be my brilliant comparison. Jerk. : p

  • Awh, did I hurt your feelings! LOLOL fail troll!!!! HAHHAHAH

  • Comment removed

  • Haha the fucking loser deletd his comments!

  • Why so hostile?

  • Personally I am constantly finding myself amazed at just how skillful a lot of actors are, ( I sort of have to remind myself, but that's what they do,... act ) to say it is not an art form would lead me to question what that persons definition of art is.

Anyhow, some of you actors sure are talented buggers!

  • I love that.

Maybe if I call you a nam...god I hope to be as fnny as you if I make videos.

  • I attended Mississippi school of the arts and Acting was a curriculum.

  • heath ledger as the joker is a prime example of art

  • @m00ph00 I am convinced that Heath Ledger ewnt "Alright that's the best I can do, time to make me immortal.

  • i had art lessons, and acteurs are artists...

  • Christian Bale is just an excellent craftsman. He's really, really good, but I've never seen him in a role where he moved me and made me forget that he was acting. Maybe he'll prove me wrong someday. And please, don't respond asking me if I've seen "Insert Name of Christian Bale Film", because I probably have. I kinda keep up with that stuff.

  • Have you seen All the Little Animals? It's not the greates of movies, but I think Bale did a great job. I saw movie at a time when I had no clue who he was. While watching it I believe he was a slow retarded kid. Not to mention, I was moved by certain scenes because of his acting. I know I'm doing what you said not to do but I don't give a shit.If you respond, great. If not oh well.

  • American Psycho was fucking briliant. I thought he metled perfectly into the movie

  • I'd like to throw in "The Machinist". Disturbingly brilliant. Performance art in a way.

  • fuck totally forgot about that movie but he plays briliant in that movie. Awesome dude

  • Ah, I should have known. I watched this directly AFTER your monologue video from Assassins, where I applauded your performance and proceeded to tell you that you should be an actor. The more I thought about it, the more I said "You know that piece was WAY too tailored to his style just to be an accident." I should have known you were an actor.

Anyway, you're awesome, I'm really enjoying your videos, and I agree with your point in the video. We're craftsmen to a point, after which it's art.

  • wow, that really is a gay cup

  • you are wrong about that director shit. coz i use to be a director and i puppeted all the fuckin movies. im not fuckin with you on this im serious. nigger!

  • You're a moron Chad. Kill yourself.

  • ...That director is fucking briliant. XD

  • Either ur a midget or thats a fuckin big mug :P

  • uberwolf69, I think that the mug is jsut that big......damn, thats a big mug XD.

  • @uberwolf69 That's a stupid fucking comment. Fuck you.

  • Is this guy is a troll I'm going to have to set his ass straight.

We trolls have our reputations to uphold after all.

  • Jack Sparrow is friggin brilliant xD

  • The weird twitches that Captain Sparrow has is obviously something actor-created. That shit's not some regular twitch that people do, and there's no reason a director would've had Depp incorporate it.

  • Depp is one of the best actors in the world because of that.

  • Not because of that. Have you seen The Ninth Gate? He was amazing in that movie.

  • Nope.

  • I like Depp but I wouldn't go as far as to say hes one of the best... I watch a lot of movies and I must say there are a lot of actors in his way :P

But he is a very versatile actor and thats what IMO is his most impressive feat

  • are con artists, artists? just curious lol I think it can be elevated to art

  • lol "bass ackwards"

  • As a writer's son, I say the writer's are the best artists of them all... however, in my own experience, actors, directors, and writers are all incredible artists. Although exec producers are for the most part just evil ^^; Bleh, I blame most crap to come out on the studio, unless it has Uwe Boll attached to it, in which case it's doomed from initial concept. By the way, I hate the man, but Tom Cruise in Rain Man is a horribly underrated acting job, he was better than Hoffman in that piece.

  • actors aren't artists? can you imagine how shit columbo would be without Peter Falk playing columbo? it wouldn't get anyhwere near what it is with him, that guy was a dickheaded-closed minded retarded fucked religious fuckwad who can't create shit himself so he has to rip he shit out other people's shit, fuck him and fuck his fucked up religious bullshit

  • I agree with you.

  • WOW...dats not even a coffee mug, its a coffee 5 gallon jug!!!

  • I have a biased belief that the writers are the most artistically responsible for a finished product.

  • that was some big cup in the beginning.

  • Very impressive video Paul. Artistry is not something that VH has any understanding of, judging from the evidence presented so far.

  • good video

  • That is the largest cup I have ever seen.

  • it's all about subscribers Paul?you gotta be happy with yourself!!!you're good!

  • THE IRONY , in this video is that PaulsEgo posted this video response because deep down he perfectly knows that it's the truth. I like the part where the guy says:"when a person gets on camera , they're not themselves , they're doing this "role". so true. and that's precisely what PaulsEgo is doing as soon as he opens his mouth.

  • True.

  • Do the dishes! :D

  • actors are indeed artists if you consider that it's the actors job to bring his character to life. with out the actor to do that a script is just another story and a director is just another person. i think that pretty much says it paul.

  • Actors have to use creativity to make it good. They almost have to have themselves belive that they are the character themselves to make it good. And when you watch a good movie (for example the matrix) suddenly you are forgetting that you are in the cinema, you are really getting into the film, and that is a piece by an artist, that means all those who participate to make the film are artists

  • Anyone who denies acting is artistry obviously hasn't seen Michael C Hall, Daniel Day Lewis, Al Pacino or Christian Bale act. Also look at Ledger's (regrettably) final performance in the Dark Knight. His performance as the Joker is captivating and on-screen there is not one ounce of Heath Ledger in that character.

  • You forgot Edward Norton ;)

    but yeah.

  • Marlon Brando, hello?

  • Yeah.. When VH first mentioned actors not being artists the first thing I thought was "Marlon Brando not an artist??!!"

  • I totally agree with you here. Actors are artists. Great video.

  • Nice work on straightening this issue out.

  • VH, is just very wrong. He obviously doesnt understand what an actor is. As an actress myself, the "art" of transforming words off of paper into real life requires prior-directing skills to get that part. Often during films, directors dont tell the actors every move, or tone and the ones that do, dont generally do well in Hollywood. ~Raven

  • that's so Raven!

  • I love Acting. Its a pure escape that somehow gives me energy for the BS in life. ARt is perspective. I saw an art piece with a black dot and white clouds painted around it. I thought for sure I was walking into a Woody Allen movie while passerby's stood and viewed with awe. ~Raven

  • I don't know why people give VH so much credit. He's not the brightest bulb. He stumbles on an OK idea every now and again, but most of the time ... yeah ...

  • and what ideas do you bring to the table? Except talking shit? Its so easy for fucking people to talk shit when they dont make videos.

  • This may come as a surprise to you, but some of us actually have lives and use the internet as merely an occasional distraction from the real world. I'm a second year law student. I really don't have the time (nor the desire really) to spend making videos. Plus, I wasn't "talking shit," I was expressing an opinion. You don't have to like it.

  • Yet you have time to watch over 1,400 videos, and leave negative comments on people's videos. Everyone has a life unless they are dead, and the Internet is part of the "real world". You are talking shit.. by saying he is stupid. You aren't very intelligent are you, boredgurl24? No wonder you are going into law..

  • Hmm ... your username pretty much sums up how I feel about your comment.

  • You and ThinkIGiveAShit have something going on, can I be a match-maker? ;)

  • you remind me of a smarter, more realistic version of the dude from the big lebowski. maybe im just high. we may never know?

  • I think the same thing! But he looks more like walter ;)

  • haha, he does. that is an extremly good movie

  • One of the best ever made.

  • skill in conducting any human activity

    -done

  • i totallllyyy sympathize with that cup

  • Could anyone argue that certain actors don't have an artistic ability to infuse roles they play with greater, more convincing realism and/or metaphor than they would have without them? The actor christopher walkens comes to my mind. He delivers consistently odd, memorable, one of a kind performances. I can remember a B-movie I saw with him in it. One of those awful shootem up action types.

  • The thing that stood out for be about that movie was, though bad, I was captivated whenever his character was on screen playing a secondary part.

  • Agree with your points. I want that hillarious mug too...

  • The question: "Is this art?" Is an old question. And it's a stupid question. The answer is always yes.

It's just like the question of beauty. Even if there's just one solitary person who believes something is beautiful, then it is. Beauty is not an objective judgment, nether is art.

  • @ 1:04

Either you are a giant, or that mug is abnormally gigantic!

    Also, great video...

  • the mug is just fucking huge.

  • I thought you would comment on this

  • What the...

How big are the beverage holders in his house? I've seen other videos of his in which he's drinking something, and the mugs and cups are always fucking huge. What the fuck?

  • big cups are the best!

you dont have to get up and refill them as often

  • Yes, well that as may be, they are still grossly oversized. You'd just end up drinking like a litre of coffee.

  • Nice reply :)

  • All artists are liars, they create images, situations, emotions or characters that are entirely made-up, and charge you money to experience them.

    What a scam. :)

  • Apart from the ones who are drawing/painting something that is already there. Like still life and portraits e.t.c.

  • it's still not the real thing though.

  • You must have a boring life

  • what about landscape painters?

  • it's not the real thing is it?

  • What about photographers?

  • the photo is real, the image inside is a copy of the light reflecting off another object at some point in time, and therefore is not an object in itself.

but then again, who's to say the original object is real or not?

  • Don't twist words.

Just because what someone creates may not be real doesn't mean its a lie. Unless its the artist intent to mislead you through their work, its not a lie.

Don't be philosophical and miss the point entirely, you're being over dramatic and propagating false information about artists; that's called lying.

  • Yes I'm being over dramatic aren't I? I'm SOO passionate about this point. [sarcasm]

I'm just pointing something out. No need to get so pissy lol

  • yes...i could not have rebutted his video better myself

  • Hey PaulsEgo... can you name some movies where you thought the acting was exceptionally good?

  • Personally, I think you'd have to point at the stages instead of the screen. There's some basic integrity that is taken away from acting thanks to bluescreens and fifteen takes.

  • probly best video , never thought ide say that coz u have so many gud ones.

  • I just watch VH's video. That is a very metrosexual voice for such a HUGE guy lol

  • Even though I play the roll often, I think directors are over rated. I think writers make the film. I'm one of those, too. No offense to VH, but he probably doesn't even know what exactly Cinematographer or Director of Photography/DP does. :-P

  • At a certain point, all creative expression merges into a communal art; at that point, there is no distinction between the various art forms. A film or mixed media work proves that. Therefore, acting is an art form. For that matter, anything done with panache could be said to be an artistic expression.

  • you look beat dude, get some rest

  • acting is truth of the character.

  • Good vid paul.."all of life questions are answered in the movies."

    -Grand Canyon

  • I want that cup... with a bit of facial hair.. uhm maybe not.

  • Great Vid Paul. Most people don't seem to realize that art is not WHAT you do, it is HOW you do it.

  • Nice vid. And make more please.

  • I agree that acting is an art-form, but I also think that the writers are the ones that deserve the most spotlight. (unless it's shitty writing, and the actor is so good it seems profound)

  • Dude! Where have you been all this time? I waited for your videos since like... ages!

  • Are you a theatre actor?

  • I totally lost it at "Rosarita refried beans." Had to back it up to hear what you said after that. XP

  • I think if con artists are artists, then actors have to be

  • I disagree with you paul because I think that being an artist requires creation and that acting is "making art" in the same way as reproducing painting is. The actor takes the art made by an artist and acts it.

But this is more a semantical debate than discution about art, words have nothing to do with definitions.

  • i think actors are artists...moreso in plays than at the movie but movies are seen as an art. also depends on the quality of the acting but in some movies you can really see the art.

  • ahh HA! i'm going to get a coffee cup like that just for laughs.

  • wow,I am a new subscribe I had no idea you were an actor. I thought you where a regular joe with a little bit of talent LOL. Have you done anything worth speaking of? Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks for the video response paul you have made me think about my position.

  • "Baby bitch butterfly?" Is that Big Money Hustla$ I'm sensing?

  • You're an actor. thats news to me!

  • I agree actors are artists. I didn't know you were an actor though what movie/play where you in?

  • lying? wtf are u talking about

  • I am so an artist!

*Grumbles and goes back to his actoring*

  • Right on! And besides, "art" and "artist" are really broad terms. The word artist only really implies one who is involved in the arts or creating art. It doesn't necessarily mean that they have to be good at it, lol! One might say that a photographer isn't an artist because they just point a camera and shoot, compared to a painter or sculptor, but it's apples and oranges. Is a crucifix in a jar of piss art? Some think so, others don't so it's really just a matter of opinion.

  • Directors are artists, writers are artists, actors are artists (Especially when they use lots of improvisation)...

  • I completely agree with you, Paul. When Pavarotti sang an opera he didn't write, was he still not being an artist? His interpretations contained traces of his persona. If a painter paints a picture of a building he did not design, is it still not a work of art?

Pacino, Spacey, De Niro, Walken - artists, all.

  • I was actually going to make a video response to VH's vid, because I strongly disbelieve with his position about acting not being art.

  • This is an awesome video. I'm not a good actor myself, but I know the kinds of people you're talking about and I couldn't agree more.

  • I'm totally with you, Paul. There's way too much passion and emotion in acting to deny its stature as an art-form.

  • I don't think actors are liars. Some might be. To me a liar implies deceit. Actors don't actually think they are making you believe they are actually that person in real life. I have never left a movie thinking Robert De niro actually was a mental taxi driver or that Al Pacino is a blind war veteran in real life.

  • But in the moment, do you not suspend disbelief? Of course you don't leave the theater thinking that Pacino is a Cuban mobster, but in the moment...

  • I get the same feeling as when I read a book(perhaps slightly different). I have at points left a movie wishing a character existed in real life lol. That is good acting and writing that causes that. Like the main character "Juno" from Juno. I was like "aww she is so charming I wish she was real". lol.

  • I said that on his video but I'll repeat it. Movies are collaborative efforts. I would say that some special effects in movies are even art. The character golem is a work of art that included the work of a voice actor, traditional artists who draw, graphic designers, animators etc. Several different people created that piece of art. Some actors are artists and some, some actors are bad at acting, perhaps that is poor art?

  • people dont want to acknowledge actors as artists or talented because they're so beaten by the constant media coverage of movie actors. Its easier to say fuck em all cause they get alot of credit not due to them for the mov
