Thanks Mark, Really found this helpful! Gave up golf for 3 and a half years and thought I could just go back and play of 12. Yeah right!! Read so much about grips stance, takeaways its messed me up.. Hopefully with your`e videos it`ll help me get back on track. Keep up the good work. Cheers
This is great theory and really helped me. However a simpler way of practicing this is to swing with a football held inbetween your knees. Or, if you are at the range a range bucket. This keeps the hips level and doesn't require you to strap a shaft to yourself.
i'm not trying to correct a pro but the shape of your shot is largely based on your grip. if you want to hit a hook, you need to see more knuckles on your left or top hand (for the right handed golfer) and if you want to hit a fade or a slice, see a one or two less knuckles on your left hand. hope that helps :)
@golfguy1995 very true and a great comment, please do remember this is video number 398 and I have many more which comment on the great points that you pick up on. This still is a great drill to cure your slice and I have lots of success with this with my students. Thanks for the comments and please do keep posting guys its all good.
hey mark. I recently started playing golfin april this year. I just turned 16 and i am a right hander off a 26 handicap. I have an 2 annoying problems. I used to be a big slicer but fixed that by making my grip more aggresive. The new problem is i do a big block right or a low hook left. Also with my driver i always drive it really low so its almost rolling and i use a 11.5 degree superflex brosnan. my dad says i slide down the line and im wondering if you can give me any more advice
@motty147 Why not ????? Are you afraid you'll look like a Dick !!!!!!!! All it shows others down the range is that you are prepared to work on something that you have a problem with, provided of course that you have a problem with a slice and an over the top downswing....Ive started working on some of Marks golf tips and they really work......Dont care what anyone else thinks.....and enjoy your golf......as they say practice makes perfect...
Hah, i've just started to play with my slice =) i just aim out on the left side, sometimes im outside of the courses left side and then coming back in and landing inbetween the middle and the right side of the fairway, i am however practiciing as much as i can on the range to get rid of that slice and hopefully eventually ill get it completly out of the way, but right now im playing the slice and i can at least play on the balls from my driver.. so im happy meanwhile.. =)
Nice one Mark. I have this trouble only with my driver. I'll be working on this in the coming weeks. I also had this discovered during a recent lesson, but this drill will help me at home. Cheers..

@golfguy1995 while this is true for intentionally shaping your shots, it is only half the truth for misshaping your shots and curing their faults

Can I use a shaft with a clubhead on the end? I don't have any shafts without the club, they all have heads on them.

Mark, dude, I AM NOT strapping a shaft to myself down the range!

@vcgwan71 Exactly right! I think it's MORE embarrassing to keep hitting slices! ;~)

awesome tip Mark. I struggle with swaying hips and this looks like it could help me keep them planted.

you could just put the shaft through your belt thingy?
