My top Canadian bands are April Wine, Rush, The Tragically Hip and the Guess Who. Not in any order though, I can't decide who I like the best, they're all so amazing.
The last time I saw them was at the Granada Theatre in Sherbrooke a couple of summers back. These guys, like thier music, just does not get old. It's too bad Jim Clench didn't hang around. I was so glad when he and Myles put thier differences behind them and got back to work. C'est ls vie, I guess. I wonder what Jim's doing now?
Best band that ever was! I actually met Miles Goodwin at the Montreal airport when I was 17, in 1983. I happened to be totaly obsessed with him at the time and could not believe that I was standing next to him! I will never forget that day, and just wish that I would have not sounded like an idiot!
Im canadian and i grew up on april wine when i was in junior high. Also guess who, Glass Tiger, now theres so much canadian talent, half of hollywood is canadian or married to one!
I have been a fan of this band since the early 70s. I saw them twice in Ottawa in the early 80s, and my son attended his first rock concert at 6 weeks of age in the mid 90s in Gloucester at the Gloucester Fair.
I live in the US now and there is no April Wine music here... nice to find it here, and see that after 30 or so years, they've still got it!
these guys just nail live concerts. man jerry mercer before they were playing was just wandering beside the stage near he washrooms with his tsicks in hand... i was the only one that recognized him, i was like, woah... so i went up and shook his hand and stuff
I saw April Wine in Dallas TX at the old Bronco Bowl in 2001, and some players from the Dallas Stars Hockey team and Dimebag Darrel of Pantera showed up to see them too! It was a BIG surprise to play this song, which was a favorite ever since I heard years ago on an import copy of "Greatest Hits".
April Wine had a bit of a following in the States but it was exponential Canada. Unlike "Rush" "The Guess Who" "the Band" and others this Canadian Band didn't quite take off. As a young Canuck in the mid 70s this was an anthem.

Myles STILL sings STELLAR! What a voice! Yes most underated Canadian band, but they are easily LEGENDARY.
speedburnervideo 2 years ago
@cuddlerbuddy AW could of made it at an International had they not screwed up at a crucial transition stage in around 1981.

They are only known for their 78-86 Capitol albums here in the USA. Its sad that Big Tree never gave them the push they deserved.
