Thanks to blue5522 for uploading. I like this; the harmonies are great, and Ellen has a pretty decent voice. But I was disappointed by the announcer talking over the song, and the abrupt ending. The "Girls" deserved better!
I am a gay man sooo.. into this lesbian duo. In my ignorant 20's I used to make fun when they came to town. "oh, I guess we won't go to the bar tonight it'll be a gaggle of lesbians" after the show but someone gave me a CD I now own them all and can't believe I missed all the performances of these extremely talented women! Betcher sweet ass I'm in the front row next time they come to Minneapolis!
oh gosh, I haven't seen them play for years, this clip really brightened my morning. and Ellen didn't do so bad on the harmonizing. lucky you Ellen! :))
god i love them! they started singin closer to fine and ellen joined them and all i could do was grin from ear to ear. thanks for posting this!! you just made my day!!
very cool indeed. i saw melissa play in irvine, ca. back in 1996 or so, and ellen...yes ellen (prior to her coming OUT) got on stage with melissa and sang ACDC's "you shook me all nite long" it was sooo cool...i too wish she would sing more often. and p.s. i have met amy and emily twice (my ex. went to school at emory in GA. and knew them a bit) NICE, NICE gals...sooo down to earth...
wooo, how powerful that would have been. I didn't know that ellen could sing, but the indigo trio really made me smile. 'You shook me all night long' - how true was that!
THat was so fricken cool! Thanks for uploading this. Ah the Indigo Girls they are amazing. I wish they had started with Closer to Fine just so that we could see the whole thing with Ellen and Amy and Emily singing together.
The Indigo Girls are life long friends who have been performing together since the mid '80's. The album that hit is big was their self titled album that debuted in 1989.
Way back in the the mid-late 80s. Theres one or two pics on the internet of melissa and indigo girls on stage with their guitars and one with amy and melissa singing into the same microphone but without their guitars.I assume from the same gig. They're both in black and white. They should definitley tour together these days- itd be completely sold out! lol.
The first song performed is 'Perfect World' from Indigo Girl's 2004 album 'All That We Let In' released on Epic Records.
The second song performed is 'Closer To Fine' from Indigo Girl's 1989 album 'Indigo Girls' released on Epic Records. The same song also appears on their 2000 album 'Retrospective' released on Epic Records.
Awesome! Ellen, Amy and Emily are to me, my best friends that I have yet to meet. The Indigo Girls are pure class. They give so much joy and inspiration through their music. Love them forever! And Ellen, congratulations on the wedding! ;o)
I love Amy, Emily & Ellen, so this is brilliant! Thank you so much for uploading! I hate it when they cut things of though, ellen singing along was so cool, why not air the whole song? (I know, out of time probably, but still =P)
I just love Ellen too much ... :-)

Ellen you finally suck in my opinion due to how this video from the best band ever is crappy...I am shocked
themusicloverforever 1 year ago
Amy and Emily, you don't have to wait any longer.
"Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you too
There is one way to ask her
It don't take a word
Not a single word
Go on and kiss the girl"
Just do it!

Ellen was living every lesbian's dream! (Or at least mine!) To get to sing "closer to fine" WITH the Indigo Girls! Good gawd! Lucky bird!
aeyana78 2 years ago 14
Hey, I'm straight and I have that dream too!
I've sang that song with the Indigo Girls lots of times. They just weren't with me.

Famous, popular, rich, ultra successful, married to a beautiful wife, sang "Closer to Fine" with the Indigo Girls etc.
Yep, she's definitely living the lesbian dream. As much as I love Ellen, I'm a tad jealous of her ;).

Closer to Fine has to be one of my favorite songs in existence.
