  • This video has zero information. It's 10 minutes long, the first 7 minutes are all self-promotion, and then when they finally get around to talking about how to break a stall, the only advice they have is "keep going." What a waste of time to someone who's trying to lose weight. GIMME THE INFO AND QUIT WASTING TIME WITH YOUR STUPID MUGGING FOR THE CAMERA!!!

  • I've been on a stall since induction - its been 4 weeks now. :-( I'm still stuck on less than 20g carbs wondering whether I should move to OWL or not.

  • Great information. I keep having a weight yoyo problem (it fluctuates). But this is only my second week. Maybe in getting nervous because Im not use to it . I was on the diet a few years ago and it looks like this is happening earlier than I expected . If you have any advice its greatly appreciated .

  • Just keep at it, buddy! Keep working the plan EXACTLY as prescribed and re-read the book again. Sometimes we allow bad habits to creep back in and don't even realize it. YOU CAN DO IT!

  • I completely agree! This has happened to me. I have lost approx 90lb on the Atkins diet - I started Nov 08' - March 09'. I exercised on my treatmill and went for walks. Started at 26 1/2 stone.. I am now 20 stone 2lb. I am finding my weight loss has stopped so I have started the Atkins induction to get me on a roll again : ) I brought your e-book yesturday too.

    At what point in 2004 did you hit your stall? Halfway, in the beginning? Just curious because I have recently started Atkins again and have been feeling great, but have concerns about my goals being derailed before the summer!

  • I started my weight loss on January 1st and began my stall around mid-May. It lasted through the beginning of August until my weight started going down again. But the neat thing is I lost about 7 inches while I was "stalled." So don't let it discourage you if the scale isn't moving. You're gonna do great!

  • I was transitioning from Induction to OWL and probably did it too fast.  That's when I realized I couldn't eat more than 35g net carbs and still lose weight.

  • You hit the nail on the head with this video...its true we sometimes think we need to adjust our WOE with stalls and tend to do stupid things as a result (ie. question this WOL, cut out fat, etc.) I try to think about the other benefits of this WOE like feeling good and looking good and healthy, vibrant skin and hair, less illness etc.  There are so many other benefits besides weightloss!

  • Perspective when you're living this way is EVERYTHING! I never lose sight of the fact I am eating healthier than I EVER did before livin' la vida low-carb!

  • Hello Jimmy, HELP Please!!! I have stalled over the past 3 weeks. I noticed in your 6 week sample menu that you do not eating many fruits and veggies? I am eating salads, low carb veggies and strawberries every day as my carb intake could this be the reason I am stalling? I am also eating Stoffers Sugar Free chocolates and Atkins bars, do these cause weight stalls. Please let me know your thoughts, thank you... I want to start losing again...   • You may back off of the berries and make sure your veggies are the green leafy kind. Also, back off the chocolates and bars for now to see how they impact you. They very well could be your culprit. Don't panic, Dan, because the stress hormone cortisol can stall you too!

  • God bless you for this segment...I've been on a stall for about a month now, plateau at 55 pounds (30-40 away from my goal) and it's really been tough not seeing the scale go down.

    I have no intention of giving up, but I have had some 'all or nothing' thinking creeping in on me. Thanks for your post on this very important topic for me!

  • Keep at it, Clyde! It's tempting to think you've failed when the weight loss stalls, but don't give up! You're doing GREAT and will prevail.

  • OMG I am still waiting for take off. The runway is getting over crowded and the plane has been stalled for...11 weeks:( I am still going crazy here!!! Yes I am still losing inches but even that is slowing down. The pharmasist said I could stall for up to 4 months...is this true??!!

  • Go back and read the book of the plan you are following, follow that plan EXACTLY as prescribed by the author, and then DO IT! If what you are doing isn't working, then find something else that will. DON'T GIVE UP!!!

    I've been in this game since 2002 however took a 6 month hiatus (read binge) when I had a very traumatic breakup. Back lowcarbing since January 2007 to shed the 40lbs I put on. However been stalled the past 6 months!!!!

    Your shows, podcast and blog encourage me to keep on livin la vida low carb to lose the last 20ls. I'll just keep on keepin on!

  • Hey Jimmy, 11 weeks on the Induction phase. The last 2 weeks I have lost zero. It was disappointing and I was angry sometimes but I weighed in on Friday and I lost 6 lbs in one week. I knew I would have a breakthrough eventually and it happened. Recently I increased my workouts from 30 to 45 min. and I knew that was probably causing the slowdown. Like you, however, I kept loosing inches. I have gone from the second hole on my belt to the sixth. Keep 'em comin, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Christine.

  • Thanks for the inspiration Jimmy! I am currently in a stall. It's been almost three weeks. I've been losing and gaining the same 2 pounds. Very frustrating!!! Thanks for your help. I didn't know if I needed to change something or what, but maybe I just need to be patient. BTW, I like the new intro.

I am soaking up all the "stall" encouragement I can get now so that when I finally do stall, and I know it will happen, I can be prepared to keep on keeping on. My DH had a stall for about 3 weeks, up and down about 1lb, I kept telling him what you said about your 10 week stall. It got him thru, and now he is losing again. Thanks so much for all your sharing.

  • I'm needing to ask this as I'm getting so many different opinions - what is your view on net carbs and sugar alcohols? do you exclude them entirely from your net count? :)

  • Personally, Christa, I subtract all of them because they don't impact me. But for some people, sugar alcohols are metabolized in part. So some people prefer to count HALF of them in their net carbs. It's YOUR choice about what works for you. GREAT QUESTION!

  • Just keep an eye on it and monitor your weight. You'll be just fine!

  • It's hard but I think in the end it's worth it. So, hopefully I'll pull out of this stall a little quicker than 10 weeks, but for now I'm sticking with it. Just the higher energy levels are worth it. So, thanks, and keep at it everyone.

  • Energy is the best part of this lifestyle change. People always talk about how awful you feel on low-carb, but other than the first week or so it's been AMAZING!

  • There was a week when I was losing a solid pound a day for a week. Unfortunately for the last 10 days or so I've been at a steady 204 plus or minus 1 or 2 pounds. Just wanted to say it's really admirable you made it through 10 weeks, and I'm planning on incorporating an intensive workout program that I've used to great success in the past called Power 90.

  • Exercise will work for you, but keep in mind you will be building muscle and that it weighs more than fat. So if the scale doesn't move, you know why. KEEP IT UP!!!

  • Hey guys, my name's Craig, and I'm 16. I've been doing Atkins for I think about a month now rather strictly. The first 3 weeks I went from 225 to 205.

I lost 25 lbs in the first month and then nothing... but the good things is I did not gain any wieght... I know what I did wrong so I am ready to move forward to lose some more... never going to give up... besides regardless of weight loss I know I am eating healthy and feel great... Thanks Again...   • It's funny the intangibles you can enjoy when you start eating this way and get "stuck," Tony. On my low-fat diet I felt so deprived during those stalls, but low-carb is so pleasurable it wasn't a big deal. The payoff was so worth it!
