I took my mate to this race this year, because he's never seen the V8's before. We were sitting at the last corner, and I asked him just as this race was starting what he thought and his response was "It's pretty cool, but no-one's died yet"
Dunno why the fireman was so slow in walking over once the firetruck turned up.. Lucky the driver could get out by himself. Emergency services at V8 supercars appear useless.
@aventino68 Apparently he walked cos he was "assessing the situation" if the car was gonna blow up or not, that's what the V8SC PR team told me on twitter anyway
you forget, this is youtube: where everyone owns a bugatti veyron, takes a different celebrity to bed each night, benches 3x their own weight, and has an IQ of 180
The cars fuel is mainly ethanol, (About 60%) which burns clearly so they were rolling him around on the floor as a safety precaution in case ethanol was actually burning on him. Yes it is what Ricky Bobby did in Talladega Knights but that was a parody, ethanol flame are very dangerous.
I love watching the first 5 seconds over and over to see the marshall jumping around like an old lady signalling a bus that she has just seen appear 2 kilometres away.
Anyone know that is on that cardboard he is waving?
The car stalled with the clutch to the ground. Karl never had a chance to lift his foot. The engine failed before he could do anything. Hope his hands get better really quick.
@Jujub801 Actually it was second degree burns on his hands and first degree on his face. Fortunately his protective gear prevented it from being serious, considering the scale of the incident. Luckily he was back for the next race. Being an aussie he saw the lighter side of the incident, just like I did. watch?v=XNbtxeXL7N8
Worrying to see a car catch fire like that in this day and age, but great to see the fireproof gear doing it's job and all the teams pitcrews helping put the flames out. Glad everyone was okay.
its shocking that those cars have enough power to launch from the start and cause so much damage. its good that everyone is alright and well done to the marshals who were straight in there. (did anyone else notice a mashel tackle the driver to the ground and the driver was like wtf man and gets up, lol)
@hornsbymoto1 No, he was doing the right thing. Getting him to roll to put the flames out, there is no better way. That marshall knows what he is doing. PS, the V8 supercars dont really have that much power. Well, 600hp at the flywheel is a decent amount, but still, alot of street cars surpass that. Even my own car does.
@BarraJZZ20 These things are up around 650bhp these days,And with a Kerb weight of around 1350kg's they move along alright....Lowndes did a 10.81 second quarter mile a couple of years back,Which is superfast for a car that's set up for a circuit!!!!
@BarraJZZ20, i know it was the right thing but it was funny how the guy jumped back up and was like gtfo me man my hands hurt! the marshall put the driver to the ground as its what you are supposed to do at the scene, just incase of fractures or damage to the spinal cord.
Unbelievable accident. Great job by safety crews and the cars safety systems and drivers suits. Could have been so much worse, like the lamborghini crash recently at Brno...
Pretty sure both drivers are ok, Steve was interviewed after the incident in good spirits. Karl's been taken to hospital for burns treatment but I believe it's only minor and more precautionary than serious

Was Skaife having a pull at the start and trying to find his dick?
There is a massive hit and explosion and he gets excited 3 seconds later.
Channel 7 you suck with all your ad breaks during the V8's

19 gallons of the similar type of fuel they run in Cup,
the smart ass comments /quotes from Talladega Nights are not funny here, if the guy had died I wonder if you'd be making them.
racefan32 10 months ago
@batrajzz20 I highly doubt that your car has 600hp to the fly, most street cars don't have 600hp a few fast cars and a lot of supercars due.

maybe they'll start protecting the fuel cells better now.
mammoth66689 10 months ago
@mammoth66689 That wouldnt make too much of a difference though. An impact like that would easily destroy a fuel cell, no matter how strong.
