Great song. To bad it was used with the image of a murderer and a coward. Yes Che was a murderer and a coward. I love at the end of his life he abandoned his me to die in the jungle and how he died begging like a dog.

During the Tour de France the radio plays French 'Chansons' on our national radio. One of the songs was this one. It seldom happens to me that I listen to a song for the first time and fall in love with it immediately. It happened to me with this song.
It's so beautiful! Too bad that my French sucks.

@peppin76 - Don't know where you are but here in the UK we had a DJ; Charlie Gillett- who sadly died recently - who used to do a lot of late-night stuff on Forces Radio and with the World Service, he played this once, and I too fell in love with it, scrabbled about looking for a tape, found one and got the last 40 second's recorded, which I have been humming to myself for years!!!!
Finally got round to google'ing it! It is very haunting - no?

May translate more poetically into one of your local (two?) languages, than it does into English? It seems a bit clumsy at the above link, but that's down to the translator, I've read very evocative translations of 'Fleurs du Mal' and very boring ones!!

@Smallscaleworld Actually, I finally did find a translation in my language (Dutch). Unfortunately it doesn't make me much wiser about the meaning of the lyrics haha. Maybe it has to do with the journey of life? Not sure.

Une chanson en espagnol annoncée comme étant chantée par Joan Baez alors que ça ne l'est pas évidemment. Mais ça attire les fans de Joan et c'est une bonne pub pour le Che).

Porqué dice "Manu Chao"? Esta cancion es de Noir Désir. Y... el Che... también llamado "carnicero" porque muy rapido paso de medico de la guerrilla cubana a las armas... y se dice que era a el al que le gustaba fusilar a los prisioneros...

the song has nothing to do with policy. It is about destinies, memory and time. It doesn't fit into communism in any way. I guess you needed music to express your adulation for Che Guevarra that wouldn't be the hasta siempre...

What Guevara represents for us Latin Americans is beyond anything, unfortunately comunism hasnt worked, but does democracy work?Not in my country (Brazil), not in the USA.. maybe in some places.. I dunno..
