I remember seeing this on "When Good Times Go Bad" I was gob smacked when seeing this! Thinking "What the f**k!?" It kind of put me off looping coasters for abit although at the time of seeing this I didn't ride them. But when ever I saw a looping coaster at a theme park I went to I refused to go on it, cos I remember watching the incident on TV! However I found it hard to imagine how a ride like that could get stuck in a loop! Like theres to much gravity in order for it to happen!
So I'm guessing the reason they didn't just give it a shove was because:
A. missing a wheel it wasn't going to roll too easy
B. missing a wheel there is a chance of derailing that and other cars
C. the two points above leaving an unpredictable situation to not end up in disaster, while at least upside down and stopped they know what they are dealing with
Why didn't they just push the train? Either it would valley in the tunnel or make it up to the mid brake run. I rather get out of it right-side-up than upside-down 60ft above ground.

@J4D3W0LF69 Roller coasters are safe, but in this case a wheel failed, most accidents are the rider's fault for not following rules or dumb people that lose something and try to get it in a restricted zone, then get injured or killed.

Wow. What happened was it was balanced JUST right. Normally since it's so heavy, any little weight would cause it to roll it one way or the other. But because it was right on the money in the middle, the weight pushed it onto the loop, kind of lodging it in place. o_o;
Holy fuck I was on that ride and it got stopped upside down. But five minutes later it got going again and everyone was fine. They stopped the ride and ran tests on it and an hour later everyone was back on it.
@jonrev yeah it would of stop in the tunnel because it wouldnt make it up the hill on the other side from the speed it will get from the drop off the loop.

A guide wheel that runs along side the track that is separated from the axle of the last car on the train that prevents the train from derailing got stuck. So instead of the train being derailed (which should have happened but didnt due to the guide wheel) it just brought the coaster to a gentle stop in possibly the worst place on the track.
One of the safety wheels were holding the entire cars on the track read wikipedia , if there wasn't any safets wheels, the last car would have fallen straight to the ground. If they tried to rock the train back and forth the whole train probably fallen off the track

They are designed to prevent the train from comming off the track in negative force situations, such as airtime hills, or, in this case, a stuck train. They're more than strong enough to hold the entire train up with a full capacity.

That's not the first time that happened. I went on the same ride, and it practically got stuck on the loop for about 10 seconds then zoomed back down and got stuck again on the track.

The problem is that black demon rollercoaster train! The Red or yellow one was ok! If you went to Six Flags Great America and ride the demon when it done going fast! You came slowing down on track you see on other side of track you see black demon rollercoaster! Yesterday on July 10, 2009 there were a mechanic problem with Red & yellow demon rollercoaster! They tested it out but it was ok!
That ride was the Cajun Cliffhanger, and someone else on YT has footage of it from when it was featured on a Discovery Channel special. You'll have to search it because YT doesnt allow links in comments.
Also, she did not "lose" her foot, her toes were crushed.
