    @dandanny686860

Everyone who can't get it to work on Win 7, you have to run it through a VM. Windows Virtual PC with XP mode works fairly well.

  • It doesn`t work

  • Can you please tell me download it? the full game. Ive wasted an hour on it already and got nothing. it just says: This version of file is not compatible with the version of windows you are runniing. Check your computer system info is see if you need 32 or 64 bit. then contact the softwarer's publisher. And I also can't get how to used Dosbox

  • @Maylilyx the demo doesnt work for me either and I'm starting to loose hope? I have windows 7 so does that effect it??? If I buy it on amazon will it work or will it still not work? I don't want to loose my money. Also I might try Simearth if this doesnt work out what do you think?

  • 2:00 Wo-o-oah! I think we go some b-b-bad acting!

2:20 Nice, varied Gene pool. Good Idea.

  • This and sim ant were my first 2 video games... NOSTALGIA ENGAGE! Gaah! star trek, nostalgia again!

  • this game's manual was an actual book. loved it.

  • I have a fatal problem with LOAD/SAVE position. Sometimes SAVE point is OK, but often show up message: "Problem Loading SimLife Game File". I have in mind version for Windows of course. Do you not know what is the problem, please? Thanks! ;-)

  • i don't know why we don't see games like these from Maxis anymore. It's quite a shame. Instead they are making Sims expansions, Spore (a kids game with no depth) and Spore RPG (i'm sure they're be no depth there too) . what a shame.

  • Yeah, I don't know why but everytime I plays this game and one of my species reproduces I hear this muffled voice go "Ooo-la-la", and when a thing dies (even a plant!) it goes "Mmmph...". Is that the original sounds or did some no-lifer sell me his own moded piece of junk? Btw, one of the creatures I had in my beginner library was a rock lobster -.-

Please respond if this is normal

  • @MrBeesness

    Yes, that's normal.

LOL, the ooh-la-la sounds. That takes me back.

  • detail like this is what i hoped spore had... damn there is still nothing beating this damn old game.... to bad i cant get it to work on win7

  • I've used a program called DosBox to run SimLife and SimAnt, though neither has had sound.

  • 1000x better than spore, that game failed. Could've been good though...

  • It's like Spore, but you are not the creature, you are God.

  • looks a lot like simearth

  • I loved SimLife and messed around with it a lot as a kid when it first came out. But the intro music sounded way better on my computer. It was actually really pretty.

  • does someone know if there is something newer like this (not spore pls, it's not evolution game, but intelligent design game)

  • @danesbenoit civilization

  • i remember the stupid announcer going 'Ooh la-la!" every time animals would mate ...always made me laugh :D i also remember some of the pictures of the disasters would scare the crap out of me, especially the STD picture :/

  • I wish Spore was more like this.

Spore 2 with a 15+ age rating for the necessary intelligence

  • I can see how Spore takes in some of the gameplay of its predecessors. I used to play this game and I enjoyed it, but now I play Spore, this looks so old!

  • When I saw this game in stores I was all like, "That game is awesome! There is a half tiger half rhino! And a tucan kangaroo hybrid! Cool!"

    The game however, sucked balls.

  • @bjsparntz well... actually it's not fun to "play", but it's good if you are interested in evolution...

  • @Chirigami

Know what is even better if you are interested in evolution? Reading a fucking book about it and not playing this ball sucking game that sucks balls with its virtual mouth.

  • @bjsparntz

Well, I didn't say it was the greatest way to learn about evolution, of course... But I did have some fun with it. No need to get so aggressive.

  • that music hurts

  • This game is really a simulation of evolution and its alot of fun for people who are interested in evolution simulations. I played it 1992 I think and it was amazing and I still have it now on my computer. It works on windows xp very well but sometimes you will have graphic problems. So its a good idea to save frequently and restart it when that happens.

Its not really a game , its a simulation and eventhough it doesnt have graphics like "spores" a thousand times more fun.

  • Played it.

    did nothing.

    Won.

  • This is the best game for Amiga especially!

  • Where can I download this?

  • You dont. You buy it, on a CD!

  • would it work on xps? and I heard it really wasint that good.

  • Would it work on xp... WOULD IT WORK ON XPS? ARE YOU ON CRACK, OFCOURSE IT WOULD.

  • I think your on crack, its just a question calm your self.

  • I was just kidding, its just why wouldnt a game made in like the 90s work on Xp, made in like 2005?

  • well, from my experience games that where made for window's 95 never work on my xps.

  • Hmm.. That is odd.

  • woot i got a xps

  • simant was also cool it got me into insects AND videogames at the age of 2

  • The most fun I personally think it was possible to have with this game was to design a voracious, nigh indestructible, monstrous insect that bred like rabbits and ate EVERYTHING - plant and animal alike. Drop two of them on a vibrant eden world full of life and wait about 6-game months, and soon you'd have millions of them. Use the carrot tool to guide them and watch as they devour the biomass from the world's surface. Tyranids! I made Tyranids without even knowing it. Awesome.

  • I thought this game looked interesting since I first saw a port of it for sale at Circuit City as a kid, but never really looked into playing it. I fell in love when I played it on DOSBox for the first time last summer. Long live Maxis!

As for Spore, it wasn't what many were hoping for, but I liked it. SimLife kicks its ass to Mars and back though.

  • I totally agree with you, Maxis haven't been the same since EA took them over :\

I didn't really like SPORE very much, it's just the exact same thing over and over again

  • When me and my friend played this game we made an animal based off a kid we didn't like. It was funny.

  • I think it looks fun :) especcially because of how much control you have :)

  • LOL

  • I used to play this game on my dads mac when I was about 8. I actualy understood alot of it back then but I'm afraid if I picked it up now i wouldn't have a clue what I'd be doing :P I have some great memories of it tho, along with simant <3

  • loved simant. But this game bored the hell outta me...

  • I wonder if this game inspired Maxis to make Spore?

  • yea it did spore is just a wayyyyy cooler and waaayyyy better modernization of this

  • its the precurser to spore, an early version

  • Maxis likes it when you can create and control your own world (SimCity, SimLife, The Sims...)

I've never played this one but it looks cool. The music is terrible though.

  • holy shit the music doesnt play on my PC

  • This looks like a predecessor of "Impossible Creatures"

  • its cool but the music will make your head explode

  • its kinda cool.. make ur own crature.. and choose almost everything.. axept a good look

  • its my company now ^_^

  • MY GOD THE MUSIC!!!! AAAHHHGGGG

  • @Kane11213

    Why ? x)
