I remember the first time i saw one of these in person at the range. everyone else was shooting "pop, pop, pop, POW POW pop pop..." and then out of no where "... KA_BOOM!!!" every one stopped shooting and leaned back to look down the range to see what the hell happened. the guy let me shoot it once, and keep the brass. now im the proud owner of one of these fine firearms. LOVE it.
@CanadAssassiN ya a 9mm wont save what about a fucking 500 magnum.... actually i think it was the same add i clicked it and it was a guy talking about martial arts and hand to hand fighting ... so a 9mm wont save me but a karate chop will ...
@zboyco Just curious why the recoil is so much lighter on the 460 when both loads have similar Muzzle energy. I know the 500 has slightly more on the high end but I am sure you could handload and get the same results. Is it just because it is a different type of recoil (Sharp kick vs. Push kind of recoil)? Just wondering as my 460 comes in the mail today and I can't wait to try it but I don't know anyone with a 500 to compare it to. Thanks.
@Deerslayer2k9 reason most likely is the weight of the bullets. ususally the heavier grain projectile the more felt recoil. these were 200 grain 460 mag loads. the 500 fires up to 700 grain while the heaviest 460 mag load ive seen were 400 grain. there are some 500 mag reduced recoil loads that feel like 460 mag recoil
@Deerslayer2k9 not to mention you know the 460 has less recoil because he is firing 1 handed, its not a very smart decision to fire a 500 with one hand
@JimmehBoy321 I am pretty sure if he is experienced firing a 460 with one hand he could do the same with the 500. I have fired my 460 one handed and while it is loud and there is a lot of concussion the porting in the end of the barrel keeps muzzle rise way down it is more of a straight back sharp push. A follow up shot can be made however it doesn't know you very far off target surprisingly. I would compare it to an unported 44 magnum. Jimmeh do you even own or have you shot?
Hey man, do you have the brass round compensator/ muzzle brake (4 slots), The manual says to use the brass brake for the .460, and 454 Casul rounds, and the lead brake (3 slots) for the .45 Long Colt. It looks like you are using the .45 LC brake for the brass, I was just checking it out.
Holy shit, according to wikipedia the .460S&W can (depending on the exact load of course) equal or even better the 7.62x51mm NATO round for muzzle energy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is just soooo bad ass. As Clint would say, "Turn your head into hash" nothing like 12 grand in foot pounds going through you. That could bust open an engine block like butter.

@Antarath I think they mean more of hand to hand self defense. As in it happens too fast to pull out a gun.

Has the .500 S&W more recoil or is it the same?
Germanikus86 1 year ago
@Germanikus86 i would say the 460 mag has half the felt recoil than the 500
zboyco 1 year ago
@zboyco and with that extra speed on the round is a better weapon

the 4 port brake is for non jacketed lead bullets and the 3 port for jacketed. i only use jacketed so i use the 3 port brake

@zboyco
LOL! Sh#t! I better check that out, I think I been shooting mine in reverse then. LOL!
I was using 3 for lead, and 4 for Jacketed!

The shockwave from a Mauser 98 nearly knocked me off my feet. But revolvers are the sickest!

You can see the shockwave of the bullet like heat waves on asphalt on a hot summer day in Arizaona!
