Scott tennant (the player here) wrote a tutorial book called pumping nylon.. i think this clip is from the accompanying dvd and hence the bench press etc. he is an excellent player and teacher and deserves the urmost respect. You have it from me..you mighty fine player!
Perfect tremolo. Agree with Rexicano. Where is the vibrato? Perhaps as this comes from an educational video, he is playing it straight and clear. Either way, I don't find it very evocative.
Does anyone know a vid where scott Tennant is playing a song in this same Background, but its more upbeat,it alternates and Fixed Position, the song was writtin by King James George. I cant find it,it was the best song Ive heard him play
There is a dvd that can be purchased along with his Pumping Nylon instructional book. I don't have the dvd, but I think that is where you would find what you are looking for. By the way, the instructional book is a great supplement to other technique studies. I am far from good yet, but the exercises have improved my playing considerably.
Scott is my favorite guitarist at the moment :D everyone who have played this piece their selves should know how insanely hard it is to play it as fast as this guy does !! love it <3
this shouldnt be perceived as "fast", scott even writes in his method book on the subject of tremolo that you should percieve tremolo as one motion, and once you master the technique you dont struggle to play brilliantly fast, it is in fact easier to play tremolo quickly rather than slow, but you cant play it fast unless you CAN play it slow :)
man i just cant seem to get the speed that these guys get, im getting a pretty consistent tremolo, although tremolo on the b string is still a big challenge, but recuerdos doesnt sound good at 125 bpm. dang it!
tremolo is a bit about speed ;) very slow tremolo doesn't sound as musical as very fast tremolo, so:P Sven, if you wanna play this fast then you really gotta practice preparation! get your fingers back on the "tremolo string" as fast as possible. this helped me a lot at least!
i think scott tennant plays a bit fast, rdla is "andante" and should be played at <100 bpm in my opinion. so Sven, if you've reached a good tremolo at that speed, you can be very proud of yourself ;-).
actually it sounds faster than he's actually playing it, like he says himself in pumping nylon, play your tremolo very stacato and it will sound like you are playing it faster, however it takes a degree of control to achieve that level
I just want to encourage guitarists who learn tremolo and can't play like the professionals by now. I know by myself that it's a lot of practice but everyone can be proud of himself if he reached an even tremolo at about 100 bpm. Please don't get me wrong: I admire people like Scott Tennant for their engagement, but it's up to me if I prefer slower interpretations or not.
It is ok to insult. However, I would suggest you to make proper use of punctuation and english rules. Otherwise your insult may mean something else, and you may not desire it to be so.
I disagree. His tremolo is very fluid and musical. He is very relaxed and although he uses retards the tremolo is always very even - a very difficult thing to do.
robbwr...lol...u dont look like ur feeling ur playing in ur videos where u tap on one string and play metal riffs...this is like that just WAY harder.
robbwr, i don't think he looks bored, i think he looks like he's CONCENTRATING. do you know how fuckin hard this song is? it's a grade nine piece, for fuck's sake. do you want him to do a stage dive and then crowd surf while he's doing it? ... retard
that would defeat the purpose. the tone generate at a low part of a classical guitar is so it gets that wood like sounding string. Playing over the whole would still sound great because scott tennant is the best
Scott Tenant es uno de los cuatro guitarristas que forman el cuarteto de guitarra de Los Angeles, él es un exalumno de Pepe Romero y un muy buen guitarrista.
LOL! God is she overrated. At least Ana Vidovic will replace her as the female classical guitarist of choice. Much better sound and technique. And humble.
You are not famous enough but I give you A+

someone mentioned guitar which is excellent.
what make of guitar are you using?
rowallanrob28 2 years ago
i like the weights that form the backdrop NOT!
rowallanrob28 2 years ago 2
What is best about this is the use of rubato...that's really the hard part after you get your tremolo done which is super fine here.
What I miss is some vibrato. Just a little would send it over the top for me.
Guitar tone is fantastic.

The only other song that Scott is playing on that DVD (with this background) is the Frog Galliard by John Dowland. Maybe you confused the composers?

Just keep it at 125 bpm and keep that consistancy. Be patient and the speed will come if you are relaxed. I know what you mean about the 2nd string.
Watch Tennant's lesson on tremolo if you haven't.

I really like Jim Greeninger's version. This sounds very rushed if you listen to his, which sounds like a lullaby.
Doggman311 4 years ago
A lullaby is for putting babies to sleep. By playing this faster, Idk, does it make you go to sleep?
