@nopseudosleft56 It's a tomatillo, if you can't find them fresh there you might be able to find them canned. You could use green tomatoes instead, but the flavor is definitely different.
@glintzy Thankyou for taking the time to reply! I'll look for a canned version then, I'm intrigued! I hope I find them, this looks delicious. And while I've got your attention : congrats on your pregnancy, very happy for you! We're hoping to start a family soon too and I know I'm going to love watching your experience. :D
Glad to see another hubby cooks video! I have missed them as well as your other videos!! Congratulations on the baby, I have been meaning to comment for a while! I saw the other vid on my phone and it doesnt let me sign in to comment on there.. anyway hope things are going really well for you :)
gosh.... the green chili looks really yummy! yes i do believe your hubby is a for sure "KEEPER!!" btw the cute little chihuahua, was licking his chops due to the fact the the flavor was out of this world! LOL.... hugs <3
btw, this looks SO bomb. with some homemade tortillas...& bam, youre all set :) :) i cook this as well, except with my own little twists. in spanish, we call it "guiso de chile verde" :)
Aw your hubby is so lovely! This dish sounds yummy too! Does it matter what kind of beer? Like lager, beer etc? Love the little spoon holder thingy too, such a cool idea.
Looks yummy, thanks for sharing. We had your nachos dish last night, again. That was the 3rd time. It has become one of our favourite meals. You two rock. I hope you are feeling great now.
k, the thing I was like oohing and awwing was the lil holder you have on the stove for your dirty spoons, so you don't dirty the stove while cooking lol. I always place my spoons on the stove and find that it dries and its hard to clean the stove afterward but that is such a great idea!
please people a tiny amount of beer in that big pot of chili is going is NOT going to hurt anything, get off all your high horses. That being said, this looks totally yummo and I am def going to make it :)
Looks interesting! I don't eat pork, do you think it would be okay if I used morning star soy crumbles instead? :) Also, I wouldn't worry about losing weight after the baby. My boyfriends sister had lost a lot of weight before she got pregnant (she actually had weight loss surgery) and gained a decent amount of weight during her pregnancy but once she had her baby and breast fed it mostly all melted away. So go ahead, fatten yourself up! Its good for the baby LOL
No it isn't good to "fatten" up for the baby. It is good to gain a healthy amount while pregnant, but gaining too much causes health issues. The healthier you stay during pregnancy, the easier delivery and recovery from pregnancy.
@abundanceoflindsay I've heard that about breast feeding too! I think the crumbles would be ok, it has a lot of flavor going on so it will still be good.
@DraciaNightcat It didn't end up turning out very hot. It's always a gamble on what your peppers are going to be like, and ours were rather mild this time unfortunately lol.
Guys.. Step away from your keyboard and take a deep breath she already explained herself even though she really didn't have to. Lol SHEESH. Glad to see a video from you :) I love your Hubbys cooking videos!
I make a MEAN Chili Verde!! BTW, you don't need to process the tomatillos! Just plop them in the pot last & push them down so that the tops are barely sticking out. As they cook, they get mushy. About 45min to 1 hr, just stir it all up and they'll fall apart and mix all in, as you're stirring. This can also be made in a crock pot! Brown meat, put into crock, saute onions, jalapenos & garlic, then put in crock, add water to just below the top, put tomatillos on top. Cook on low for 8 or more hrs.
The idea that alcohol content is burnt off in the cooking process is actually a myth, Ted Allen talked about it once on that Food Myth show he had a couple years back.
Oh my osh I have been watching your videos for soooo long! I was so excited seeing the title about green chili until I realized it wasn't grean chilE, the actual chile from New Mexico which is where I'm from. We just went through Hatch Harvest Season and oh my gosh it is amazing!!! I HONESTLY want to send you some lol. I've sent it to so many people who do not live here. I'm going to contact you about this amazing subject! =] And I am so happy for you and your husband by the way!
LOL aww I love that he lets the dog taste it at the end :) This is a great video, you two are so cute! I'm so excited for the both of you with the little one on the way, good luck with everything!
Could I do this instead: La Victoria Thick 'N Chunky Medium Salsa Verde 16oz glass jar, and then add the pablano to it ? It has cilantro, onions, and garlic, I could add more fresh Onions and Garlic If I want...but would you subsitute the tomatillos and use this? All I would need is the pork shoulder and cumin =D
@bluetigressemoon I looked up the ingredients of that salsa brand, it seems like it would work out really well. You'll probably need to add quite a bit more water than we did because your salsa is going to be thicker than the fresh tomatillos, but overall I'd say give it a go. I'm actually rather intrigued, and will remember this for future use if I want to make it faster.
that looks delicious i am definitely making that cause i love 2 cook, i will be adding all fresh ingridients and my dog is definitey not going 2 taste it lol.
@candy1bar I didn't eat any of it, but only because I still had morning sickness really badly when he made it and the only thing I could stomach was super bland food. I could and would eat it now though, it cooked for nearly 2 hours, the alcohol content would be non-existent by then. Same kind of thing applies with beer battered fish, I've been eating that since I was like 4 lol.
How are you allowed to eat the chilli when there is beer in it and you are pregnant?! Also are you kind of bummed that you lost all the weight and now you are going to gain weight from begin pregnant ?
@makeupdiva4308 I bet she is so happy she lost weight first. I wish I had done that before I got pregnant but I didn't so when I was 30 pds overweight not pregnant and then 60 pds pregnant, geesh look out. I also had gestational diabetes probably because of my weight. Losing that weight before getting pregnant will bring nothing but good for Amy!
@makeupdiva4308 I didn't have any because I had morning sickness at that point, but I could have if I was feeling better because the alcohol content cooks out. I think losing the weight and being healthier helped me to become pregnant, so nope I'm not all that bummed. It is a bit daunting to have to do it over again, but I did it once, so I certainly can do it again. =)
@glintzy Actually alcohol never really cooks out. Some does, but most stays in there. Not that you could ever actually eat enough of this to do much harm anyway!
@glintzy you've started to live a healthier lifestyle that's a plus for you and hubby as well as your baby so you'll be making healthier food choices and you won't gain as much weight because of that !!! and that looks delicious !!! hope your morning sickness subsides soon!!
your husband's voice & accent sounds like this is an episode of a southern cooking show :) i'm hungryyy watching this :D missed u Glintzy. hope u are well :)
Looks delicious! How are you feeling now? Better, I hope! I'm almost 19 wks along with a baby boy and I'm EXHAUSTED all the time. Are you planning to do some baby item/nursery hauls? If so, I would be really interested! :)
@lulu5803 Aww congrats! I'm feeling much better, my sickness is finally gone! =) I'm planning on starting up my regular videos again this coming week. I can sympathize with you on the exhaustion, I have about 9 hours in me and then I need to sleep for 15 lmao. I do plan to do pregnancy related videos, and will probably show some things I get for the baby in them. I realize not everyone will be into it though, so I'll try to keep them spaced out a bit so I don't overwhelm anyone.
Loved this video. Nice to see hubby, and one that cooks. Hope you are feeling better. Early pregnancy can be draining. So happy for the both of you. You will both make wonderful parents. ;)
