There's actually a lot of shooting, but the AVP series is more based around brick shitting moments and atmospheric horror. The audio files are used to fill the player in on exactly how shit went down, and, at least in AVP 2, they were a huge help to the story. While this video was pretty pointless, it really is worth picking up all the audio logs. They were really well done in AVP2.

I'll give the game the flashlight thing. Lore-wise, colonial marines are supposed to have a shoulder lamp, a gun lamp, and a helmet lamp, plus infrared on their helmets. They only show the shoulder one in the games. There's supposed to be two more lights, which I imagine would help a lot.

It's a game mechanic thing. Like I said earlier, colonial marines in the books and films get three flashlights and infrared readouts on every helmet. The muzzlelight, shoulder light, and helmet light were set up so that, in most situations, there's a least two lights on whatever you're doing.

The shitty flashlight mechanic is a horror game mainstay. I don't care for it either, but it's a real easy way to make shit spookier, so I can almost overlook it.

Marines are kinda boring to play and weak in multiplayer.

Aliens are pretty cool but jumping and climbing walls can get confusing

My own opinion of the game is that it was disappointing, because I hoped it would be great. But it is not that bad of a game either actually. It is neither great or abysmal, merely average. I still have fun playing it and I don't think my money was wasted on it, but I have to acknowlege its flaws too.

This game was made in like 1999 and was the SHHHHHHIIITTT, Idk now, they probably did fuck it up and made it sh1t. It doesn't seem scary at all!!! in the original the human campaign was very scary, well, for a 14 year old lol. Idk very dark and a lot of surprises that made me jump, it reminded me of silent hill... anyways, seems like they fucked it up this time around.... =\ , now it's like every other FPS out there. I sure hope you can play all 3 races in this one. If not they FUCKED UP!!
