For example the hood scoop on this car not functional (why put it on?) the lambo doors are what you call insta-rice since this car is obviously not a lambo. The bumper way over the top and offers no significant function other teh looking overdone; then there's the big spoiler.. and fender vents.. rice

@unincideal yeah i agree with you, they can make powerful vehicles but its something about the rumble of american muscle and the sheer raw power that you can actually feel and hear that makes me prefer american muscle. I mean I dont prefer it just because im american (im actually full italian ) but I love the styling, the interior the power and sound. what im saying is you never see japanese cars compete in the lemans, and thats where the top car manufacturers compete. but I do like SOME.

I believe my 1st project was the cost of the car + ~$3,000. The amount of time I had to put into prep, modification, fitment, paint, etc. was near 200-300 hours, and that was my father who had already completed dozens of restorations. Its a commitment.
Now with a career and being 10 years later my wife and I spend more time on performance. We have binders 3" thick of receipts, schematics, invoices, etc. Budgets have grown but the idea is the same. We both can say, " I did that."

I don't know OrangeSyn, but I can appreciate the effort and creativity. I don't care if this is "just" a Cavalier or not. At age 19 my first custom was a Dodge Stratus. Performance wise it was stock, but I did make tasteful body modifications along with audio and video.
When I see a project like this one, I get what the creator's goal was: create art.
I'm assuming all the kids that rice out cars and go for looks over function have never ridden in a torque monster that pulls you back in your seat or a car with handling like a go kart that pulls those Gs around corners.
Former ricer here, once I ridden in an STi I knew the way I was modding my car was wrong.

Modifying a car is all about making something you like, learning/improving, and enjoying it.
Take it from a guy thats built some pretty formidable cars for show or performance. If you don't have the money its difficult to do a lot of performance upgrades, especially if your base vehicle wasn't built to be more than a commuter car.
Sure its a Cavalier & probably isn't fast, but at least its creative. I'm sure quite a few of the YouTube Jockeys w/ bad comments haven't modified anything...
I wouldn't put the car or the owner down too much. I actually made a vehicle with similar stylings when I first started college. Now that I have my degrees I own vehicles that are light years beyond that in terms of effort, a more mature stylization, and power whether I bought it off the dealership lot or made the other that way myself.
Everyone has to start from somewhere. Keep in mind some people like this guy may never be able to afford a pony, sport, or supercar.

The first car I ever did was a 2.4L Dodge Stratus 1998. I took a turbo from a PT Cruiser and added it. It was what it was. I really enjoyed it.

Very nice, I have a 1999 sunfire convertible i want to get done up like that someday. i have 4 sunfires and i will say, that once you get past some of the electrical issues with the security systems, they are decent cars for what they are. nice to see some J body supporters out there. keep up the good work and beautiful car. something to take pride in. it might not be a jaguar, but for the money, they are fun as hell.

Ok well, coming form a former camaro owner and current mustang owner I say this. That car is a hell of a lot better than either I have owned. I'd happily trade that 79Z28 and My 02GT for this. I was honestly thinking about buying a cavalier for this very same reason, not for speed, just for show. I think you officially sold me my friend, Two thumbs up.

I believe my 1st project was the cost of the car + ~$3,000. The amount of time I had to put into prep, modification, fitment, paint, etc. was near 200-300 hours, and that was my father who had already completed dozens of restorations. Its a commitment.
Now with a career and being 10 years later my wife and I spend more time on performance. We have binders 3" thick of receipts, schematics, invoices, etc. Budgets have grown but the idea is the same. We both can say, " I did that."

I don't know OrangeSyn, but I can appreciate the effort and creativity. I don't care if this is "just" a Cavalier or not. At age 19 my first custom was a Dodge Stratus. Performance wise it was stock, but I did make tasteful body modifications along with audio and video.
When I see a project like this one, I get what the creator's goal was: create art.

Modifying a car is all about making something you like, learning/improving, and enjoying it.
Take it from a guy thats built some pretty formidable cars for show or performance. If you don't have the money its difficult to do a lot of performance upgrades, especially if your base vehicle wasn't built to be more than a commuter car.
Sure its a Cavalier & probably isn't fast, but at least its creative. I'm sure quite a few of the YouTube Jockeys w/ bad comments haven't modified anything...

I wouldn't put the car or the owner down too much. I actually made a vehicle with similar stylings when I first started college. Now that I have my degrees I own vehicles that are light years beyond that in terms of effort, a more mature stylization, and power whether I bought it off the dealership lot or made the other that way myself.
Everyone has to start from somewhere. Keep in mind some people like this guy may never be able to afford a pony, sport, or supercar.

Thats awesome! I didn't mean to imply that you didn't own or could afford other cars. There are some that X or Y car is the limit to what their finances can bring them, and if they do quality work on it regardless of what it is I can respect that.
The first car I ever did was a 2.4L Dodge Stratus 1998. I took a turbo from a PT Cruiser and added it. It was what it was. I really enjoyed it.
Now days my wife & I own a 06 Roush Stage 3 w/ TVS & P-51 engine, RX-8, 09 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS...

Second of all they are called this when they have an engine that tops out at around 110-120mph but they think their car is the fastest thing in the world. Ricers were origionally people who had an engine smaller than a V8 but wanted to race. so stfu.

Very nice, I have a 1999 sunfire convertible i want to get done up like that someday. i have 4 sunfires and i will say, that once you get past some of the electrical issues with the security systems, they are decent cars for what they are. nice to see some J body supporters out there. keep up the good work and beautiful car. something to take pride in. it might not be a jaguar, but for the money, they are fun as hell.
